Cheap Ryanair Tix = Wishful Thinking
Well, at least I had hope for about twenty-four hours. Remember yesterday's post about the ~$13 tickets to Europe on Ryanair (here)? Looks like its not actually happening. I was pretty disappointed when I read it in the Globe today, then I was reminded by Bloggery Reader Todd about it so I figured I better make a post.Do imminent $13 airfares between Boston and London sound too good to be true?

Ryanair will also try to break into the German domestic market for the first time with flights between Frankfurt and Berlin. The French internal travel market has proved a difficult hunting ground for cut-price airlines, faced with the dominance of the national carrier, Air France, and, above all, with the success of the TGV – the high-speed rail services run by the state-owned SNCF.

Ryanair sorprende ancora: da low cost a no cost

Ryanair: TAR conferma meno voli a Ciampino
Ciampino-Ryanair: Aumentano i sostenitori dello scalo
Why Ryanair is here to stay
It’s an accepted fact that the North West coast of Sardinian and in particular the Alghero area have significantly benefited since the arrival of low cost airline Ryanair back in the year 2000. Single handedly Ryanair marketed the beautiful island of Sardinian to the rest of Europe and in doing so Alghero’s economy has boomed. Here are some astonishing facts: 1. In the year 1999 less than 590,000 passengers passed through Alghero Airport. We expect to see 1,300,000 passengers this year up 21% on 2006. 2. In 1999 over 80% of passengers were Italian nationals. In 2007 we expect to see international passengers to account for more than 60% of total passengers. 3. Since 2000 Ryanair have been responsible for the employment of over 400 Sardinians directly and countless thousands more indirectly in the growing hotel and catering tourism industry. The Alghero Estates team are often asked our opinion on the Ryanair factor and if they will continue flying to Alghero for the mid to

Ryanair has declared a price war on its no-frills rivals by launching its biggest ever seat sale. The airline, which is now quoting all of its fares inclusive of taxes, is offering 10 million seats across Europe from just £10. Around 3.5 million seats will be offered for £10, including taxes, with another 3.5 million for £15 and the rest for £20. Ryanair believes the seat sale will help it reach its target of carrying more than 52 million customers this year compared with 42 million in 2006. It also announced that if passengers find a cheaper fare on the same route with any other airline, it will pay double the difference between the two fares, even though it expects the move to cost the airline around £1 million. Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary accepted the moves would put downward pressure on both prices and profits but said it would help consumers and damage competitors. His pledge came just hours after rival Easyjet vowed to slash its fares to fill seats due to falling passenger

      Ireland Trip: RYANAIR
The original idea was to fly in London (Gatwick), and then take the train/ferry systems to arrive in Ireland. But Dan was discussing the trip with his family and one person suggested that we fly into Dublin since it's "dirt cheap." After doing some investigatory work, I found out that they were indeed correct.Currently, Ryanair is offering airfare (all taxes included) from Gatwick to Dublin for 10 GBP (or approximately $20 US). By flying into Dublin, we will be saving about $20 each way. I wish I knew about their cheap service earlier, since they are offering this special for all serviced locations. Hypothetically, we could fly from Dublin to anywhere in Spain for $20. If you're planning a trip to Europe from May to Oct, then you should get your tickets now since the deal ends April

With taxes included it would be 79 kr for a one way ticket and 158 kr for a return ticket. When I hear Ryanair I see a Sir Montgomery Cecil in front of me. I hate this shit! Getting cheaper flights on Ryanair
We’re just getting organised for a trip to Belfast next week and have been pricing the flights on Skyscanner as that’s a much, much easier way to pick out the cheap flights compared to trying to do it directly on the Ryanair site. As usual, it’s cheaper and more convenient for us to fly out of Carcassonne and back to Girona. Most people wouldn’t think of doing that as the historic assumption has always been that return flights are cheaper. That was certainly true in the days before discount airlines but although discount airlines will normally let you book a return ticket, in practice their flights are actually priced as one-way. So, in our case, if you were flying from Dublin to the Pyrenees, the cheapest thing to do is usually to fly from Dublin to Girona and then fly back to Dublin from Carcassonne. The one complication in this scenario if you’re coming here is that international dropoffs of cars can be expensive so you need to price in that aspect of y

Ryanair offers MPs money saving advice
Michael O’Leary, head of low cost airline Ryanair, wants to help the British taxpayer save money on MPs travel expenses to and from Westminster. Civic minded O’Leary has advised the Falkirk MP Eric Joyce that he could greatly reduce his travel expenses of over £30,000 by flying with Ryanair. However it is not exactly comparing like with like as it is much further to travel to Glasgow Prestwick airport from Joyce’s constituency in Falkirk than to Edinburgh airport. I would estimate that the journey to Prestwick would take at least one hour more than to Edinburgh.  The far flung locations of airports used by Ryanair is one of the potential catches of the low cost airlines.  Just be sure that you always check the exact location of your arrival airport when you book you flight.

Ryanair profits rise (but so do reports of dangerous landings)
Travel Daily today reports that Ryanair is to open it’s 19th base in Dusseldorf, Germany as Ryanair’s growth continues. However there have several alleged dangerous landings by Ryanair craft, the most recent where flying very low on approach to landing triggered two cockpit alarms and led to complaints by local residents. The pilots’ union claims that Ryanair’s cost saving 25 minute turnaround time can put pilots under too much pressure. This just re-inforces my concerns about low prices and the constant competitive pressures which could lead to corner cutting. What price do you put on safety?
