Ryan Adams is one of the most prolific artists working today. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes that's a bad thing. On his latest album with the Cardinals, Cardinology, Adams strikes the right balance. Sprinkled amongst the country ditties are some gritty rockers. "Go Easy" and "Magick" show Adams with some attitude. He lets his inner metal head out with very good results. He so

Folk singer Ryan Adams stole my signature move and took Mandy Moore out for a date yesterday - to the the comic book store. Now there's two things I love more than life itself: boobs and comics. And right now Rick Moranis' mutant love child has his hands on both. Had I known Mandy Moore was into my secret obsession, I would've asked...
Going on about Bryan Adams, who strangely shares a birthday with him, Ryan continues: “I seriously could give six shits about Bryan Adams or [“Summer of ’69”]. In my opinion he is not a serious artist. His songs have ‘implied target market audience’ written all over them and in fact he is quite embarrassing in general”
The big news of the day is that Velvet Revolver kicked singer Scott Weiland's ass out of the group for not being “100% committed.” Did they mean not being 100% committed to doing anything but tons of heroin? The real question is, though: does anybody actually care? If somebody can sing us a Velvet Revolver song, we’ll give you a

Ryan Adams is bored. Officially bored and wants some attention. I guess Lost Highway won’t be releasing the majority of his material, like the stuff he recently posted on Vimeo. In these two videos we see Ryan sing a few songs, if you can call them that. The first one is [...]

I look beyond the cover story of this month's particularly strong Interview magazine (August Issue: White Stripes cover!) reveals one hell of an exchange between Ryan Adams and the Arcade Fire. Adams has appeared here before, but never as the interviewer and we see him here as the hipster fan who is eager to find out more about the band whose new album, "Neon Bible" he loves. Turnabout is fair play!ARCADE FIRERYAN ADAMSHere are is an excerpt of the piece - very conversational:Ryan Adams: Did you guys have it in mind to record Neon Bible outside of a regular recording studio before you made the album, or was making it in the church a happy accident?Win Butler of Arcade Fire: It was definitely a bit of a happy accident. Once we found the space, it became clear that it would be a great place to make a record.Ryan Adams: The acoustics are unreal too.Jeremy Gara of Arcade Fire: They were actually a bit nightmarish at first because of the reverb. You would hit a snare drum and it wouldn'

We are big Ryan Adams fans here at ENS, even when he does some of the crazy things he is notorious for doing. But these first two samples from his upcoming album, Easy Tiger, are well, just beautiful. Although you won’t notice unless you listen real close, Sheryl Crow is providing backing vocals on the song Two, (of which we are still waiting for the Rob Base mashup).
Easy Tiger gets a release on June 26th from Lost Highway.

I published this show waaaaaaaaay on back in October of last year when this blog was equally as good, just far less read than it is now. Every so often, I look back and republish something cool - like this live Ryan Adams gig from 2006 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a spiced up live show - An interesting reference to the band The Killers. The 2003 set list contains a few songs that RA no longer seems interested playing live. Ultimately what you have here is pretty damn cool.Enjoy...On fire: In 2003, Ryan Adams was playing Rock with a different set of Killers.Ok - in a nutshell: The year is 2003 and Ryan Adams is touring to support the Rock N Roll album. He has had a great year business-wise but makes one mistake when he elects to name his backing band for the tour "The Killers." This did not rest well with another existing band of "Killers" starring Brandon Flowers. The result was a cease and desist order from their label issued to Mr. Adams. But for several nights on tour - including

"Prolific" is an understatement. Critics will often rattle off on Adams' inability to edit himself, to narrow his catalogue from consistently above average to focused genius. There's also the argument that Adams is more songwriter than singer, and ...
