Rushing to the Great Wall of China
In my capacity as the UK Director of Operations for One World Tours Limited, I am often asked about the destinations I have been to and how it all began in the first place. 10 years ago I embarked on my second trip around the world and I suppose you could say that this is where it truly all began. Here is my first experience of China.I thought that visiting the Seven Wonders of the world in eight days would be a fun and challenging thing to do. Having decided with my sponsors the airlines and a chain of leading world-wide hotels it was decided that the Seven Wonders of the World were the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Golden Gate Bridge, The Empire State Building, Sydney Opera House and the Pyramids of Egypt. This would notch up a staggering 42,000 miles

      Waterfall or rushing river
Time to set goals for the new year coming soon.  This makes me think of a canoe trip I took many years ago with my husband up in Concord, NH.  I was facing backwards and didn't seen a tree down and rapids so I didn't know what was coming and we hit rapids.  The canoe tipped over and I was pinned under it.  This makes me think of how I can't look at past experiences and accomplishments or rest on my laurels so to speak.  It is a time to look forward to what can be accomplished with anticipation.  There are past weight loss goals met but time for new ones for sure.  There are properties sold but time to sell new properties.  There are lots of things I have done and some I haven't.  Time for new things to stretch for.  I have to press forward but oh how I fall back.So here are my affirmations:I am looking forward not backward.  I am striving for more things.  I know I am doing more -- More to help o

The sympathetic sort, RAPH offered the above solution and some kind words.Maybe these girls should take a tip from the lefties that go on "hunger strikes" here. Makes it a bit easier to eat when no one is looking. More on the sewing abilities of the world's oldest profession from Reuters:Prostitutes in the Bolivian city of El Alto sewed their lips together Wednesday as part of a hunger strike to demand that the mayor reopen brothels and bars ordered closed after violent protests by residents last week."We are fighting for the right to work and for our families' survival," Lily Cortez, leader of the El Alto Association of Nighttime Workers, told local television."Tomorrow we will bury ourselves alive if we are not immediately heard. Like a babbling, rushing stream
This coming Sunday is my baby's first birthday. How is this possible? Some parents might throw a fantastic party or buy exciting presents to celebrate. I am doing these things too, but all the hustle and bustle makes me feel even less connected to the event, not more. For me it takes quietness, and reflection. Time to remember and celebrate and let go of the year that has gone by, to let go of babyhood. I stare at pregnant women and newborn babies these days. Stare and tear up a little. Was it really a whole year ago? Then again, was I really pregnant? Was he really that tiny? If so, why don't I seem to remember it?The lack of memory is due, I think, to the lack of sleep and lack to time away to process. Anne Lamott says that her son carries in himself every age he's ever been. I have already found this to be true, and the opposite as well. The transition from helpless tiny babe to opinionated, independent one-year-old has been so seamless and gradual that looking back at pictures ju

      I Was Just Rushing Out...
I've been growing more agitated than a dog at a flea convention. A friend gave me a self-help book: "How to Become a Patient Person". I read the first three lines and then skipped to the last chapter. No time for inessentials. I have things to go, places to see, people to do...or something like that. Anyway, I would love to chit-chat, but like I said, I have sh*t to do...

      Rushing through the day
STOP! Stop right there and take a deep breath. Okay, sit down and relax for a moment. Oh, I feel better already. Are you constantly running through each day, late to appointments, and never enough time for anything? If this is the case, it’s time to look at your time management. How well do you stick to your daily plan? What’s consitantly causing you to be late? Have you written down your agenda for the day, the times, and how long it will take you to get there? Doing this simple task can dramatically improve your time management, and will relieve a lot of stress out of your daily life. Just before bed, write down everything you need to do the next day. Then you can realize how much time you will have to wake up and get ready. You are already starting your day off good, and will be happy about it. Plan to arrive wherever you’re going 5-10 minutes early. This way, if there’s a little bit of traffic, it won’t be a problem. If you’re in one appointment
