When buying acreage outside the city limits, there are many more items to consider than when buying in the city.  One of the items is the availability of water.  If buying in Gillespie or Kendall counties, you can obtain well logs from the Hill Country Underground Water District in Gillespie County or the Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District in Kendall County.  Among the information detailed in these logs is the depth of the well and the gallons per minute pumped by the well.  If there is no well on the property you can obtain the well logs from wells on nearby properties.  The water districts also provide the rules for placement of water wells in regards to property lines and septic systems as well as any permits required and the cost of these permits.&

Country’s largest private sector lender in terms of branch network, HDFC Bank is moving its BPO activity to the semi-urban area by hiring about 2,000 people in next two months. The move is expected to bring down the operation by about 50-60 per cent primarily due to cheaper human resources and real estate cost.The bank will soon open 400-seater BPO in Trupati, the second one after Nellor in Andhra Pradesh, sources close to the development said. This post continues my discussion of some of the thoughts that I had after consulting with some of my expert friends prior to a participating in a focused group discussion with Tracy Justesen, the new Secretary of OSERS, among others, about rural special education issues. By the way, I learned of the meeting with the Assistant Secretary after my first post about rural special education. The very informative meeting occurred last Thursday; everyone present really liked to talk! Here are my additional thoughts: OTHER ISOLATION ISSUESRural schools are geographically isolated. Some remote schools may be 150 miles away from the nearest small town. There are some school districts where the Superintendent also fixes the boilers, serves as basketball coach and does much of the janitor work.

The study compares the factors causing depression among married people from the two continents, and seeks to extend the knowledge about the prevalence and predictors of rural late-life depressive symptoms. Fortis Group company Fortis HealthWorld Ltd (FWHL) on Monday said it has tied up with the rural retail initiative of Godrej Agrovet Ltd, Godrej Adhaar, to open pharmacies in rural areas. By setting up FHWL pharmacies jointly with Godrej Adhaar, the company seeks to empower the rural India mainly the farming community by providing all encompassing health needs under one roof, FWHL said in a statement. More and more rural inhabitants are discovering that their once-pristine wells are now contaminated with bacteria. Interestingly, there has been no nation-wide assessment of the health of our rural water wells. But two smaller scale studies suggest that 20 40 percent of the private wells in any given area are contaminated with bacteria.So what is a rural well owner to do? As it should be with any health related issue, the best thing you can do is educate yourself first, and take action second. So before you pour a gallon of Javex down your well, lets take a closer look at what bacterial contamination entails and what you can do to solve your problem.Bacteria are everywhere

The Rural School and Community Trust has evaluated the condition of rural education across the country, and ranked each state according to how dire the circumstances are there. Florida ranks 11th. (The worst, by the way, was Mississippi.) One of the state's biggest problems is that it has a large number of rural students - about 340,000 - but they are concentrated in a relatively small area and don't make up a large percentage of the total number of students. As such, the state doesn't spend much time setting rural education policy. Providing appropriate services, then, becomes "doubly challenging," the group writes. What else? The state ranks seventh worst when it comes to rural students who graduate from high school in four years, and 11th worst in per-student instructional funding.
