Straight talk. That’s my theme for this final segment in my personal series about PPD. I’m devoting this time to sharing with you how I got the help I needed. Before I do so, please understand that PPD manifests itself differently in different women. You or someone you know may be experiencing all or none of the same symptoms that I experienced. However, if you have even the smallest inkling t
Sixteen-months after Pumpkindoodle’s birth, I thought that Postparum Depression had left the building. After all, I wasn’t postpartum anymore. My baby was a toddler. I weaned myself off the antidepressants and looked forward to rediscovering my “old self.” The intrusive thoughts had subsided, but feelings of fear and a need for control gripped me. My patience wore thin, my home never fel
(This is part three in my series about my struggle with Postpartum mood disorders. There will be a few more parts to the series. If you or someone you know may be experiencing PPD, please check out the resources on my side bar. I used the picture to the left to demonstrate that PPD cannot usually be diagnosed based on how someone looks. Part One. Part Two.)Early this morning, my sweet four-year-ol

(This is the second segment in my personal series regarding my struggles with Postpartum Depression. Click here for the first segment. Please know that Postpartum Depression is a very real illness that is treatable. The stories I am sharing deal only with my personal experiences. There are many women who experience different symptoms than I had. This post is a bit longer than usual because it includes some additional resources below.) Better Off Without MeSome maladies are easily defined. If my arm bleeds, I know that somewhere on it exists an open wound. After quick examination I know if the gash requires a simple bandage or a trip to an ER for stitches. Postpartum Depression is not so easily defined and often presents itself differently in women. The list of possible symptoms easily
(Author’s note – Sometimes God leads us through struggles and asks that our survival stories be shared for His glory. This is one of those stories. It’s the first in a series about my two journeys with Prenatal and Postpartum Depression (PPD). I am sharing these raw experiences as an offering of hope to those who battle an illness affecting at least 60 percent of new mothers; and to share with you a beautiful victory that was won for me by the paradoxical gentle and mighty hand of God.) Part 1 - When fear rocks the cradle Pregnancy creates peculiar oddities in a body and mind. A case of the “What ifs” besieges many expectant mothers. “What if my feet stay this size?” “What if my water breaks while I’m driving?” “What if I’m not cut out for breast feeding?
Late last year, Nokia introduced the model users fiscal 6030, which was distinguished by design, breaking of the usual range. Nevertheless, its appearance is [...]
“Have you noticed?”“Noticed what?”“That he says it all the time?”“Er….not particularly.”“I wonder where he got it from?”“What?”“That little ditty.”“Which one?”“The ‘my bad’ ditty. I’m never sure if it’s a question or a statement or where he got it from in the first place? That and the cap turned backwards, is giving me cause for concern.”“Really. Supposed to look cool I guess. How come you're worried about his repeats?”“Well it just sounds so odd. ‘Bad’ isn’t a word that we use around here.”“All the kids use it.”“Do they?”“Oh yes, it’s just ‘hip’ I suppose, you hear it all the time.”“Do you? I don’t.”“Come now, don’t be such an old fuddy duddy. Have you been living under a rock?”“Maybe.”“He’s just trying to fit in with his peer group. You should be pleased that he’s that socially aware.”“I should?”“Well it’s a darned sight better than ‘oopsie’ every time he makes a m
The downfall of former Indonesian dictator Suharto, one of the most corrupt and brutal rulers of the last century, swept in an era of political freedom and hope for a better future. But nearly a decade later, many in this nation of 235 million remain desperately poor. And in dozens of interviews with laborers, traders, hotel owners and entrepreneurs, Indonesians expressed what was once unthinkable - nostalgia for the economic stability of his authoritarian, U.S.-backed regime.``What people want, what I want, is a return to Suharto's time,'' said Boan, a peasant who struggles to feed his three children by toiling in fields owned by wealthy farmers. ``Life is bitter now compared to then.''Much of the current malaise is financial. While some people interviewed still oppose Suharto because of the rights abuses during his rule, especially in remote provinces where the military brutally suppressed separatists, almost all said they were financially better off 10 years ago.Indonesia News B

Her Side: Everytime you forget to carry that 1 in math.. a kitten dies… I think this ruler makes that message pretty clear. Plus it can make it through those pesky metal detectors.
His Side: This is way more bad @ss than the ruler I made when I was a kid. I hot glued a ruler on the end of my pencil as my entry into the first grade science fair. My reasoning: why add on your own when you have a ruler there to count for you.
Suprisingly, I did not win any prizes.
Her Verdict: <3 <3 - a little bulkier than a normal ruler, but a spiffy convo piece while your not paying attention in math class.
His Verdict: 3 six-shooters of glory.
Normally we distressed our photographs by using the sanding or inking technique. But recently, I've tried to use a steel ruler to distress my photographs and it turns out great. Slowly scrape the edges of the photograph using one end of the steel ruler. This will scrapped off some of the colours on the edge of the photograph to give it a rough white edges which makes the photographs looked distressed. It's easier to control the place to distress by using a steel ruler as compared to sand papers. Using this technique would also allow you to distress a small surface easily. If you would liked another colour for the rough edges, simply ink the edges or chalk it. I've used this technique in my latest layout titled "Deep Within" in my family gallery.
I watched a documentary on Google video yesterday about the history of numbers, it was really quite good and covered it all in a very casual and comical way. One of the things you don’t really realise is that almost everything around you is possible because of numbers, more specifically that we all agree on the same numbers. The ancient Egyptians were the first to introduce the ruler, it was based on the length of a mans forearm and the width of his hand and was made on mass. The fact that they could agree on a common measuring system enabled them to do great things, and brought us structures such as the great pyramids.Just as they key to effective building is measurement and common understanding, the same can be said to be true to effective communication. We need to use the same basic language to get our message across, but when we have that out of the way we need to make sure that we understand the details of that language.Too many times arguments and disagreements are based on mi
Mira Sorvino recently attended the Gotham Awards with her little king Johnny. To keep his little head warm, she opted for an "Independent Trucks" beanie by Little Ruler.
Little Ruler (www.littleruler.com) has become quite the favorite brand for celebrity parents such as Angelina, Gwen, Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee. In addition to great licensed skateboard and punk rock gear (check out the Black Flag and Crimson Ghost onesies), LittleRuler.com is the only online boardsports retailer for little ones.
Growing up, I had a friend in the neighborhood named Pedro. His nickname was PayPay so everybody in the neighborhood knew him by that name. Well, PayPay had this dog named Ruler...a big German Shepherd with a mean temper. As a matter of fact, the dog got the name Ruler because he ruled the neighborhood with an iron fist.
Well, in Ruler's case, I guess it was an iron paw, but back to the story..
