Grand Rounds 4.33 is now up and running over at Suture For A Living. (apologies for the late posting of this today). There is no theme this week. Grand Rounds 4.31 is now up and running over at Dr. Val and the Voice of Reason. She has grouped the post by feeling, which I don't think has ever been done before. And, she added a little cute tagging system to point out the especially good posts of the week.I admit that I have been a slug and not writing as much and contributing to Grand Rounds. I feel badly about that. But, I'm feeling a little resurgence, so maybe the posts will start flying again. Welcome to Grand Rounds - sort of. For those of you who do not know, the real host this week is the one and only Grunt Doc. But, if didn't know already, he could not handle the entire GR himself. It's hard to explain. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then start with the Grunt Doc blog this week and you'll eventually end up here.

Grand Rounds 4.21 is now up and running over at HealthBlawg: David Harlow's Health Care Law Blog. If you can believe it, this is a health care lawyer and consultant handling GR this week. But, not to worry, this Valentine's Day edition is well done.In fact, it is so well done, that I have a post in this week's Grand Rounds, and I didn't even know it. On Sunday afternoon, I wrote the post called "Love Hormone," and I thought that it would be a great edition to GR. But, when I looked at the deadline, I read that I missed it. So, being a past GR host, I remember how annoyed I was when people tried to e-mail me something past the deadline. But, this morning, I was checking my stats and found that I was getting referrals from this week's GR site. The feral cat colony at JFK Airport is the cause of a real a cat fight - between authorities and cat people.
A group of about 60 cat lovers gathered at the Manhattan headquarters of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today to denounce the rounding up of feral cats that live in a colony deep in the secured cargo areas of Kennedy International Airport.
The roundup began last week. Port Authority officials said that scores of felines — some of them descended from cats that had been walked out of cargo holds or abandoned by their owners — were congregating around a parking lot next to an unused Delta Air Lines building. The roundup has generated a fierce debate.
Cat rescue groups and animal rights advocates organized today’s rally. They said that an animal control strategy known as trap, neuter and release (T.N.R.) would be far more humane and effective than trapping and hunting the cats and taking the cats away.

INDIANAPOLIS (TICKER) — Starting in 2009, the NCAA women’s basketball tournament will have 16 sites for the first two rounds, the NCAA announced Friday. The tournament had eight sites the previous two years. It did have a 16-site format in 2004, when it set an attendance record. The decision was made after a 10-person committee reviewed the operational and logistics concern with the switch. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NCAA women’s tournament will have 16 sites instead of eight for its first two rounds starting in 2009. The tournament last used the 16-site format in 2004, when it set an attendance record. The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee announced its decision Friday. “As a coaching community we need to support the move to 16 pre-determined sites,” Charli Turner Thorne of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association board said in a statement. “We anticipate more…

I wrote a my blog called Fabulous and over 50.I was doing some pretty heavy duty bitching about being over fifty and how much it really sucked. But I would like to take this time to acknowledge that there is a flip side to getting older and it it is not always a bad thing. This is because I am finding that there are many simple pleasures that come from the small stuff life has to offer. I could never really appreciate these things up until this time of my life. This being in in stark contrast to the the intense excitement and constant stimulation which was required when I was younger (like just a couple of years ago.)For example, up until this past year, I never had a plant that lived longer then a few months. I have recently come to discover, plants and flowers will grow and multiply if you give them water along with tender loving care!Since this revelation, I have slowly come to appreciate the beauty of growing my own small garden. This beautiful garden also gives Pinky(my faithful
At midnight just over a week ago, the seventh and final edition of the children’s wildly popular Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, was officially released.
To commemorate the occasion, each section of this week’s PGR begins with a quotation or some dialogue from the story. A total of 25 blog articles are included in this edition, each one just as magical as the next, and I hope you enjoy reading them all as much as I did. I intentionally kept my comments short so that you can focus on the content of each article.
So, without further delay, I present to you Pediatric Grand Rounds 2.8.

What is Pediatric Grand Rounds?
Pediatric Grand Rounds (PGR) is a bi-weekly blog carnival of the best posts pertaining to the health of children. PGR is a way for bloggers - parents, doctors, teachers, nurses - anyone interested in pediatric health issues to interact and share their thoughts, feeling, stories and articles. Past editions can be found at the Pediatric Grand Rounds Archive.
Please note that your blog doesn’t have to be about pediatric health issues as long at the article you submit is relevant.
As a parent, do you have a story about child illness, injury or preventive care?
Have you written an article regarding a news story related to the health of children?
As a health professional, do you have an experience dealing with pediatric health?
I strongly encourage submissions from bloggers who have neve
(Domino) After first introducing Four Tet on the album Dialogue, it was with the stunning follow-up Pause that Kieran Hebden really turned discerning electronic music heads all the way on. A lovely amalgamation of gentle hip-hop beats, obscure folk influences and music-making software found on the net, the album elicited endless accolades and even generated cheeky new genre tags like "folktronic." The resulting trajectory sent Hebden everywhere from tours with Radiohead and Madlib to remixes for the likes of Aphex Twin and Beth Orton (who’s recruited him to produce her next album). Somewhere in all of that sonic madness he found time to conjure up Rounds, which simultaneously builds and deconstructs the strides made with Pause, resulting in an even more organic blend of quiet but muscular compositions. Opening with the woozily beautiful warm-up "Hands," the album sounds like it was composed by a man in love, especially considering song titles like "She Moves Me" (an Asian-influenced

Then she also gave me a second honor and I will also follow up on
First of all, I did not like it that the Hollywood rounds consisted of only one episode. Second of all, I am not really gung ho over anyone yet. I really liked Sundance’s original audition but last night he sounded awful. That was a disappointment. There are only a couple of girls I’m pulling for right now. One is the 2nd half of the “Best Friends”, Antonella. I was so glad her little diva friend was cut and not her. She seems to really have her head on straight. I am also liking Gina Glockson (the rocker chick). She made it to Hollywood last year but messed up her song and her room was cut. As for the other guys I really like Brandon Rogers but they didn’t show him singing last night. Chris Sligh is another one I’m pulling for (chubby funny guy with the fro).
I read AI spoilers and I already know who the top 24 is. A lot of them we haven’t even seen yet.

Grand Rounds 3.19 is now up and running at the blog called Envisioning 2.0. The theme is consumer driven health care. Because I was so busy last week, I didn't have an opportunity to submit anything.
If you don't know what Grand Rounds is, it is a weekly compilation of the best posts from the medical blogosphere that moves to different sites each week. And, who doesn't like reading about medicine and science? Next week, GR moves to Tales from the Emergency Room.
Grand Rounds 3.18 is now up and running at Signout. Dr. Signout is a first-year resident (ie - intern) in an internal medicine residency in the US. She moved her blog recently to the scienceblogs family. Thanks to Dr. Signout for including my submission this week...

I have no idea how Dr. Signout managed to put together GR and be an intern. I know it was crazy for me when I hosted. Nonethless, great job! Next week, Grand Rounds moves to Envisioning 2.0.
Addendum: Hmmmmm... I tried to leave a comment of congrats over there and it told me I was "forbidden" to leave a comment. That's interesting. Maybe someone over there at scienceblogs just doesn't like me. Anyway, congrats on GR, Dr. Signout.
Grand Rounds 3.17 is up and running at Kerri's site called Six Until Me. She has a theme this week and it's called "Emotions in Healthcare." And, she has put together in a very creative poem encompassing her theme. Thanks to Kerri for including my submission.
If you don't know what Grand Rounds is, it is a weekly compilation of the best posts from the medical blogosphere that moves to different sites each week. And, who doesn't like reading about medicine and science? A very interesting and well done edition of GR this week. Great job Kerri! Next week, Grand Rounds moves to the blog called Signout.
Dr. John Lapuma has Grand Rounds 3.16 this week. He calls his theme "food as medicine." An interesting batch of posts this week. I tried to leave a comment over there and you have to be "logged in" to leave a comment. Oh well.

I'm going to be working a lot this week. So, I want to apologize up front if I have a sparsity of posts over the next few days. The docs in our group take turns working the holidays throughout the year, and this is my year for the Xmas/New Year's stretch.
Also, I've gotten lots of spam comments the last few days. So, I'll be moderating comments until I think the spam has slowed down. Sorry. And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...

It also drew the ire of Doctor Anonymous, and he discussed his reactions in a great post that led to some healthy comment discussion. On a quick glance, I counted 36 links (unless you count My Three Shrinks as three separate posts instead of one). Well done. However, I couldn't leave a kudos comment over there because the verification characters wouldn't come up on my firefox. Oh well, Kudos to AAaDT for their work this week.
Look out! Next week, GR journeys to Nurse Ratched's Place. But meanwhile, enjoy the best the medical blogosphere has to offer - It's Grand Rounds!
Grand Rounds 3.11 is now up and running at The Antidote: Counterspin for Health Care and Health News. The host is Emily Devoto. No theme this week. Thirty-seven links are divided into nine categories. Here's my contribution:
Dr. Anonymous briefs on this week's new research findings on chemo-brain - now there's evidence of a neurologic basis for the phenomenon; with luck, the findings could spur further research to understand and address the problem. Thanks Emily for including my submit this week. Next week, Grand Rounds moves to Anxiety, Addiction, and Depression Treatments. Experience the best the medical blogosphere has to offer this week. It's Grand Rounds!
Grand Rounds 3.10 is up and running at Notes from Dr. RW. It is self-described this week as a "running commentary, stream-of-consciousness style, to provide some structure to this incredibly diverse collection of links and perhaps liven things up a bit. I'll sneak a few opinions in here and there, but you'll know them when you see them." Thanks to Dr. RW for including my submit this week:Ectopia what??? Ectopia cordis---a rare developmental anomaly in which the heart is situated outside the chest. Dr. Anonymous writes about a recent case. For those of you sitemeter watchers out there (I am definitely one of them), it'll be interesting to check out the Dr. RW sitemeter as it goes through the day today.Next week, Grand Rounds moves to The Antidote: Counterspin for Health Care and Health News. That's funny. Does that mean that Grand Rounds is a poison? Tune in next week to find out. Enjoy Grand Rounds!
The final race of the 2006 season !
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, ROUND 7 AT BIRA !
The Thailand National Championship round 7 will be the last race for this exiting kart season. Originally planned for the Seacon Circuit in Bangkok, this event has now been moved to Bira as conditions at Seacon has become “too bumpy” for kart racing. The layout is expected to be similar to that of Round 6. Most class championship battles are by now settled, so this will be a race for fun, for glory of the day, for the season finale - so do come and enjoy this race weekend !

The Extreme Sports Cafe Racing team will be there competing, and also setting up our new chasis for next year, which will debut at this race, without the 2007 livery… This is a good opportunity to try some things out in a competitive environment, but with no real risk to our championship standings..
As we entered the championship too late to mount a serious challenge, and with a fledgling team, we are very happy

Mona Chopra dress changing MMS clip is being circulated all over the place, just before release of her hot skin flick ‘Naughty Boys’ and she is doubtful weather it is her or someone else in it. It seems like Naughty Boys have been at work off late. The actress is very upset as she finds it very cheap. The clip shows Mona Chopra changing her clothes during a movie shoot. The actress has seen the MMS but is not sure about the woman in video. Speaking on the same she explained that she undresses herself so many times during shooting. It might have happened that someone secretly shot her in nude. Calling it a serious breach of her privacy, Mona is planning to take legal advice on the issue from her lawyer. The actress said, “I find it very cheap. I can’t resort to these kinds of publicity stunts. It is seriously in a bad taste. But first I have to find out whether it is really me there in the MMS or someone else. It is quite possible that it is me, there in the MMS clip, but I cannot
Grand Rounds is a tradition in many hospitals around the country. Here is an on-line version. A touching story from hospital impact. This is one weeks post from Grand Rounds 2.05, a rotating column of medical professionals.
I once spoke with one of the most famous hospital CEOs in America. Out of all the things he could have shared with me that day, he talked to me about a cleaning lady in his hospital. This is the story he told...
A patient was in a coma and her grieving family sat around her. The patient had been completely unresponsive for weeks. Then, a particular cleaning lady unknowingly and deeply moved this family - simply by doing her job with a smile and by singing/humming a sweet tune under her breathe. The family noticed that the patient actually responded to this far-off cleaning lady's humming ever so slightly - a twitch of the eye, a tear. The family asked the cleaning lady to come in and sing to their loved one in the coma. Without hesitating, the cleaning lady put
Just a reminder for you to be sure and check out Dr. A.s blog on Tuesday. He is this weeks host for Grand Rounds. Grand Rounds is a gathering of posts, from the best of the medical blogosphere. With his personality and charm, it is sure to be one of the best rounds ever.
As you can see, this whole Grand Rounds thing has taken over my blog life, at least temporarily. The Doctor Anonymous blog has kind of become "the crash course on being a GR host" blog, at least until next week. For anyone curious, here are the poll results as of this posting:Which do you prefer? (69 total votes)Grand Rounds with a theme: 42%Grand Rounds without a theme: 58%Ideal number of Grand Rounds links each week? (75 votes)Less than 25: 35%From 25-30: 47%From 31-35: 9%From 36-40: 4%More than 40: 5%I got a few more submissions Wednesday. From what people have told me, this is par for the course (sorry for the golf lingo). I read a few more GR postings from the past few months, just to get a feel of how things have been done in the past. And, in fact, a similar discussion on the number of GR links occurred about nine months ago (look here, here, here, and here). This was before I was even blogging. I don't know if it's good or bad that this discussion is coming up again. Because, t
