One of the more disappointing pieces of news this offseason was the announcement that A.J. Ratliff would be academically ineligible the first semester. I’ve always liked Ratliff’s talent, but he’s never really put it all together for a full season in a Hoosier uniform.
As a sophomore, his signature performance was a 21-point effort during IU’s 79-53 rout of Kentucky in the RCA Dome. Last year, he dropped 20 on No. 2 Wisconsin to lead IU past the Badgers, 71-66. I was optimistic heading into the offseason that this was the year Ratliff would experience a breakthrough.
As we sit here today, I’m not so sure that breakthrough can become a reality for Ratliff. If he regains eligibility for the second semester, he’ll be hard pressed to score significant playing time. Armon Bassett, Jamarcus Ellis, Eric Gordon and Jordan Crawford will be fully entrenched in IU’s rotation and Ratliff will have to prove he deserves to take minutes from one of those guys

Arsenal’s injury problems seem to be diminishing as the club prepares for the important Premiership clash with Sunderland this weekend.
Manager Arsene Wenger revealed today that a number of his side’s key players are now injury-free and ready to return to training. Wenger commented that Jens Lehmann, William Gallas, Tomas Rosicky and Alexandre Song have all recovered from their injuries and will resume full training this week. However, all four players along with Eduardo da Silva, who is still suffering with an ankle problem, will be unavailable for the match with Roy Keane’s Sunderland.
The news means that Manuel Almunia and Philippe Senderos are set to keep their spots for another week, but it will be interesting to see whether they are displaced for the likes of Lehmann and Gallas when they latter two become match fit. Second Rotation has been launched recently as a way for consumers to sell on their electronic items for cash. This is an interesting development in the drop-shop model which uses the fact that for some categories (mainly electronics) eBay is a liquid market with steady (ish) marketprices. Regarding sector rotation, probably the best book I read on the issue, which helped me determine my strategy, is Peter Navarro’s “If it’s Raining in Brazil, Buy Starbucks.” Navarro introduces the concept of MacroPlays and contains the best logical description of Sector Rotation, Market Cycles, Economic Cycles/Reports and Interest Rate cycles.
I also recommend Peter Navarro’s “When the Market Moves, Will You Be Ready?” which is just a shortened, easier to understand book like his Raining in Brazil book.

Last Wednesday we saw singer/ songwriter Emi Meyer perform at the Montmarte Lounge in Hollywood. I have never been before and for a club it was huge with tons of swankin' expensive modern furniture, lighting and 3 bars! The show was a multiple act with art show, but I think the event didn't match the venue. Emi has a 4 song Ep trio style with drums, bass and a 'live at the Hotel Cafe' CD with 14 solo tracks. Obviously, he has good stuff, but he's worked hard to execute, for the most part, what we wanted him to do this spring."
