There are times that I am not sure about my dreams anymore, will I ever make them happen? Well, only time can tell, and since I married young, I am always in a situation where I have to tackle many things at once. I married someone who wants me to clean the house each time our children makes a mess, yet at the same time, I can't just do so because I am working to supplement my expenses. So, I have to often argue the point to my husband saying that I will only try to clean up once the kids are done with messing up around the house, because when I keep going behind them, I could be doing it all day. There is no end to that since the kids would just take what I put away, back on the floor and have a messy house again. So I clean up at the end of the day when they are asleep. I feel like a robot sometimes that is told what to do and when to clean up, so I should be set automatic that whenever a child drops something I am right there cleaning, putting things back endlessly. For this week’s Women on Wheels, we’re waxing nostalgic, and reminding you of American cultural icon Rosie the Riveter, who represents the six million women who worked in manufacturing plants producing everything from munitions to jeeps and tanks during World War II.
Most people think of Rosie as a fictional character created for advertising posters, with her flexed muscle and WE CAN DO IT cheer urging patriotism, and standing for the American war effort, as well as feminist sensibilities, but there was actually a real Rosie.
Her name was Ms. Rose Will Monroe, and she was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1920, moving to Michigan during the war. She worked as a riveter at the Willow Run Aircraft Factory in Ypsilanti, MI, building B-24 and B-29 bombers.
As well, Monroe starred in a promotional film about the war effort, and was featured in a poster campaign.
Today, women work beside men on factory floors, as well as in design studios, though they are still underreprese

In case you missed it both Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump have books coming out next month. Rosie's book due out October 4th, is titled, "Celebrity Detox: (the fame game) and the Donald's book due out October 18th, is titled, "Think Big and Kick Ass," which coincidentally comes out next month as well. Gigs on Air is coming to the end of their residency at 93 Feet East, but as one of their closing gigs at the Brick Lane venue they put on an eclectic mix of artists, the highlight of which was undoubtedly Rosie Oddie and the Odd Squad.
After a rather abysmal opener in the shape of “Wrong Animal” (who decided to berate the crowd, and show off their lead singer’s ignorance both within the 20 minutes that I saw of their set), Rosie quietly shifted onto stage at 9:45. The 22 year old shifted through her already impressive back catalogue, showing off her reputation as a Kate Nash for those a bit more left of mainstream, liking something a bit edgier.
Rosie’s famous bird watching father was absent from the proceedings, though it does look like her backing band, The Odd Squad, has had some members picked by Bill himself – a noticeable age gap between the guitarist and the rest of the band, however was clearly picked for his skills.
