iRobot Roomba 4910 Replacement FiltersI would not recommend buying this is you don't have a roomba. No really I'm serious there is not many other uses. If you do have a roomba you probably need some.I have tried to use it as a breathing bask for my dog. Not a good idea.I would not give it to small children or the senile elderly. It can be used in Halloween costumes or if you need to fill up some small place with a small object. They can be fun to stack and un-stack.Try destroying them if you need something to destroy. No fire though! Smells bad and carelessness creates forest fires. Please don't start a forest fire. I have a dog and she likes the forest. We run and play and if you burn down the forest because you lit the Roomba filter in a forest and created a fire I will be mad at you and if

Using a toothbrush head, motor and battery, you too can make a Bristlebot. After watching the video, we're convinced that the Bristlebot is some possessed mini-me version of the Roomba (Tantek has coined the term Toothba for the prickly palate cleaner). Admittedly, we'd like to create a whole army of them and watch them battle it out in a dirty bathtub.
Love my Roomba! The path is random, so it's not perfect but i tell you on hardwood and tile floors this robot is the bomb-diggity. It cleans under the bed, under the couch and gets most places that are a real pain for me to get. If you run it daily you have to sweep much less often. I used to have to sweep every other day the entire house before i got the Roomba. I have this older model, and it does get stuck on socks, cat toys, and bathmats etc (the new models are supposed to be better about that), but he(Roomba we call him sparky) makes an alarm noise like 'uh oh' so you know to free him if you're home. My battery died after only a couple of years, and i have yet to procure a replacement but since it stopped being used Dust Buffalos (bigger than bunnies) have taken over my household, building up under couches and beds. This is better as a cleaning 'aid' than as a complete replacement for sweeping and vacuming. But any help is good help! iRobot Roomba 4210 Enjoy effortlessly clea

Dear Useless Men,I have an irrational fear of robots; especially roombas. I know these little terrors are meant to clean, but I swear they try to chase me. I just don't like things that can move and thing for themselves without a brain. Are the roombas really out to get me? Scared of Robots (Couldn't come up with a clever signature. Too scared.)Dear Scared of Robots (I couldn't come up with a clever signature either),The roombas are programmed to wander around aimlessly until they discover some dirt, which they then proceed to suck up. What really makes me nervous is that they manage to not fall down the stairs or get stuck in a corner. While they harbor you no ill will, I would suggest maybe bathing more often. Possibly shaking out the dust from your clothes would prevent the roomba assaults you are encountering. Another approach would be to carry with you a bag of topsoil wherever you go. When the roombas come to get you, it’s a simple matter of bait and run. Throw the
Let’s be honest here, vacuuming can, at best, be a laborious task so the very idea of having a robot vacuum cleaner scheduled to clean the floor whilst you’re at work is, we don’t doubt, extremely appealing to most.
The Roomba 570 is the latest model in iRobot’s vacuuming cleaning robot range and offers drastically improved performance and durability as well as an on-board scheduler which allows you to set up to seven cleaning events per week during which the Roomba 570 will zip around the room collecting dust whilst automatically adjusting to differing surface types for optimal performance. And, once finished the Roomba 570 will return to its base station to replenish its batteries ready for its next cleaning cycle.
Standard Features
A smart, efficient vacuum that picks up dirt, dust, pet hair and more from carpets and hard floors.
Cleans the whole floor, under and around furniture and along wall edges.
Automatically adjusts from carpets to hard floors and back again.

To the top five Blog Battle Royale finalists awaiting arrival of their iRobot Roomba Vacuums...I have an update for you:
Seems things were a little slow actually moving the product from the warehouse, and they just got shipped out today. They are making their way to each of you via FedEx Ground shipment, with the exception of our Canadian Postie -- yours is shipping via Purolator Ground. For those here in the U.S. expected shipment dates are early next week (take into account the Labor Day holiday). I'm hoping our Canadian friend will receive hers mid-next-week.
Given this, let's extend the deadline for your "iRobot Roomba" post to Monday, 9/10. That will allow you time to receive your vacuum, spend some time with it, then make your post! I'm hoping everyone should receive theirs next week, that way you'll have the entire weekend to spend with it. If, by chance, something happens and not everyone has received their package, I'll provide an update.
Thanks for your patience
The iRobot Roomba vacuums have been mailed out to the top five Blog Battle Royale participants, and should be arriving on their doorsteps sometime mid-next week (if not before). So once you receive your iRobot, test it out, have your kitties chase it around, and then post on your blog about it! Be creative! Photos and video are always a great tool to use when talking about a product. Remember, there will be another round of voting to determine the Blog Battle Royale Champion!
Please have your post published by 12:00pm EST on Friday, August 31st. That's next Friday (and also Blog Day 2007!). Once you have published your post on your blog please e-mail me the link directly at Ashley(at)PayPerPost(dot)com. When all five have been sent to me I'll do a post on our blog, accompanied by a voting widget.
Good luck!
Some people love the Roomba, iRobot’s self propelled low profile vacuum cleaner. Others find it gimicky and a big waste of money. I’ve owned the original Roomba and now own the Roomba Discovery, and I fall into the “love it” category.
I have hardwood and carpet in my house, and it does an excellent job of cleaning up between major housecleanings. Plus I have a townhome, which saves me from hauling a vacuum up and down many steps. I run it once a week around the kitchen and main floors and it easily picks up dirt, crumbs, and other miscellaneous crap. And with the “virtual walls” I can set it to clean a certain area or room, although at times it tends to clean one area to much, ignoring another.
The Roomba 500 series has resolved a few of the Roomba weaknesses. The navigation I mentioned above, causing Roomba to focus on one floor area too much, and also the occasional problem where Roomba gets stuck on items on the floor. (The man

I’ve owned the original Roomba for a few years and recently upgraded to the “Discovery” about a year ago. For those who don’t know the Roomba is a small circular self propelled floor vacuum cleaner created by iRobot, (a company that also makes military and police robots for collecting dangerous objects). Roomba works on all floor types, and their newest product the “Scuba” even washes and scrubs tile and wood floor. Roombas have sensors to keep from falling off stair edges, and their small virtual “wall” sensors can be used to contain the Roomba in a specified area.
Below: the Roomba “wall”
The Roomba is not as powerful as newer standard floor vacuums, but for regular floor cleanings it’s perfect. With it’s low profile it cleans under beds and most sofas. You can start it and walk out of your door, or sit and watch the Roomba chase your dog around.

From Engadget.com Robotic Falcons chase away pigeons.
While San Franciscans (and birdwatchers around the globe) enjoy the beauty of the Sutro Forest through a new MMO, British chaps are figuring out a way to rid a city of an apparent “obese pigeon” quandary. In order to shoo away the unsightly animals, a Scottish firm has delivered Robops to sit atop Liverpool rooftops and “flap their wings and squawk loudly to scare the problem pigeons away.” Reportedly, the solution was crafted after officials (and citizens) grew tired of the increasingly nauseating droppings and incessant badgering for food. Proponents of the plan are hoping that the newly disturbed pigeons will find their way to parks and green pastures where their diet will be more balanced, but critics are suggesting that pigeons will “soon realize that these mechanical things are not a threat,” effectively rendering the project useless after a short while.

If you are lucky enough to have an extra roomba kicking around why not mod it to shoot peoples feet.
“I own a Discovery roomba and use it in the never ending battle against dog hair. I love it as it does an amazing job at sweeping up not only dog hair but all sorts of dirt and dust. I didn’t want to take the chance of killing it so I searched around for another and found this Roomba Red on craigslist for $30, it wasn’t charged when I went to see it but I figured that if it was dead the motors and battery would be worth the money. I took it home and plugged in the charger. I smelled something strange and realized that the charger cord was damaged and the wires were shorting out! I repaired the wires and pluged it back in and after a few hours gave it a test. It Works! With my discovery working I didn’t feel bad when I removed the vacuum mechanicals on the Red to save weight and make room for any additional modifications I might add. Now for the disasse
Roombas are gaining popularity and their prices are slowly starting to fall. The Roomba is an automatic vacuuming device that is a robot. The robot senses when it bumps into a couch or a chair and then it keeps going in another direction. There are a few different models to choose from, starting at about $200. The Roomba is louder then you would like it to be, but it is amusing to watch. A very cool feature is that when it's batteries are low, it goes back to its base and recharges itself. Many people who own one like it but say there are some drawbacks. What are your thoughts? Would you buy one?
I’m a huge believer in the sex appeal of brain power. Smart = sexy. And not just smart, but handy. I have no need for a useless genius.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to hear about protons or astrophysics in bed. But I am definitely attracted to brainiacs. And I have got to say that knowing that Phillip Torrone can make cool stuff like a Frogger Roomba, definitely makes him a just a little more attractive.
Be sure to check out his Flickr collection, and the bit about him at LifeHacker. And of course, keep sending me more Roomba goodies!
