I do, however, think he's better for America than Obama.Either way, I feel like I'm being force-fed McCain and I don't like that. Romney had some good things to say in his speech. He warned against America becoming the France of the 21st century, with its neo-socialist policies and called on conservatives to rise to the occasion of the challenges ahead. And boy do we ever have challenges ahead.

Mitt Romney Bows out! McCain Seals GOP Nomination
WASHINGTON - John McCain effectively sealed the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday as chief rival Mitt Romney suspended his faltering presidential campaign. “I must now stand aside, for our party and our country,” Romney told conservatives. “If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of [...]

This Just In: Romney Spent A Crap Load Per Delegate
From The Washington Post: Republican campaign operatives call it the Gramm-o-meter, the money a candidate spends per delegate won, in honor of Phil Gramm, the former Texas senator who spent $25 million and won just 10 delegates, or $2.5 million per, in 1996. By Republican strategist Alex Vogel's calculation, Mitt Romney is giving Gramm a run for his money. The former Massachusetts governor has spent $1.16 million per delegate, a rate that would cost him $1.33 billion to win the nomination. By contrast, Mike Huckabee's campaign has been the height of efficiency. Delegates haven't yet been officially apportioned, but roughly speaking, each $1 million spent by Huckabee has won him 20 delegates.Just as a point of reference: In 2006, the median annual household income according to the US Cen

Mitt Romney Disses Decorated WWII Veteran Who Also Happens To Be Bob Dole.
From CNN:In a FOX interview Tuesday morning, Romney had said the former Kansas senator was “probably the last person I would have wanted to have write a letter for me.”McCain immediately put out a statement condemning the comment, and told reporters on his campaign plane that Romney should apologize to Dole, a decorated World War II veteran, for the remark: "this is no way to end up this campaign, by attacking a genuine American war hero." His campaign also released a statement in which the Arizona senator called Romney’s remark “disgraceful.”A short time later, Romney also referred to Dole as “an American hero.” He added that he would love to have the former senator’s support for his own bid.“I think very highly of Sen. Dole,” he said, and had merely intended to critic

      Romney's Refrain
I've been meaning to comment on this for awhile, and today may well be my last chance if McCain all but seals the deal tonight as expected. In any event, ever since Romney transparently pillaged Obama's "Change" theme, he has made a point of saying that we can't have change by just "putting the same people in different chairs" (or something similar to that). He then claims that his experience as a Blue State governor (and as a businessman) makes him uniquely qualified to be President. There's just one problem with that argument, which essentially argues that you need an outsider to create change, preferably an experienced governor, and definitely NOT a sitting member of Congress: most Presidents in modern times have fit Romney's "outsider" definition to a "T." Indeed, the last time we elect

      Romney Hottness..... mmmm daddy
The latest Reuters/CSPAN polls put Romney 8 points up in California. This race keeps getting better, as the Reuters/CSpan is one of the more respected polls out there. This means that things may be much closer than anticipated and conservatives may be coming to their senses. To be honest, after Florida Romney was hurt. The Romney strategy feeds on momentum and winning one here or there wasn't doing it. By shifting his strategy to a more longevity focus, he has adjusted to the times and has renewed his campaigns momentum by allowing conservatives to get a taste of John McCain as the front runner, surprise surprise he is not what America thought they were getting. The longer McCain sits in the spotlight the higher Romney will climb in the polls. So Florida may be a blessing in disguise

      Not So Conservative Romney
All I've heard from Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Ann Coulter and many other "conservative" commentators this last month is how Mitt Romney is the only Conservative in the race. Now I respect and admire all these people, but they are way wrong on the issue of who the true Conservative is. The most Conservative candidate that was in the race is now out, Fred Thompson. Mitt Romney is no where close to being a Conservative. John McCain and Mike Huckabee have always had their views on most issues...except McCain on border security and I believe he learned from how his bill was defeated. He heard the people speak. But Mitt Romney began changing his stance on just about all issues as he was getting ready to enter the race. Abortion, 2nd Amendment, gay marriage, taxes (or, as Rom

The Great Rush Limbaugh Endorses Mitt Romney?
On the final day before voters hit the polls for Super Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh said the following:"Now, I think now, based on the way the campaign has shaken out, that there probably is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool, and that's Romney. The three stools or the three legs of the stool are national security/foreign policy, the social conservatives, and the fiscal conservatives. The social conservatives are the cultural people. The fiscal conservatives are the economic crowd: low taxes, smaller government, get out of the way." Now I've been following Rush for a while now and he hasn't really endorsed anyone. It was obvious for a while that he liked Fred Thompson, but he's obviously out of the picture. Today, however, he made the closest t

      Vote for Mitt Romney
I'll make this quick and simple. Do not vote for John McCain unless you want to pay higher taxes and see more illegal immigrants taking American jobs and trafficking drugs to our children. Ditto on Mike Huckabee, but in a less extreme way. Vote for Mitt Romney who will not raise taxes (he didn't as Governor) and will secure our borders (even chastized for his "hard-line" on illegal immigration).Don't take my word for it. If the Giants Can Do It, So Can Mitt Romney!
Tonight watching the Super Bowl, as I usually do, I was routing for the underdog. The New England Patriots went into the Bowl with a perfect 18-0 record. They were the clear favourite going into the final against the New York Giants. Almost everyone predicted a Patriot win, and until the final minutes that's what it looked like it would be. But with less than a minute left, Eli Manning threw a pass, that I'm sure will become legendary and will be played countless times tomorrow on television and on the internet, and hit Plaxico Burress for the touchdown to win the game 17-14. What happened tonight was spectacular and reminds of what I believe can and will happen to Mitt Romney, not at the Super Bowl but Super Tuesday. Until recently, John McCain was the clear favourite in the polls.

TPM article link Zogby: Obama, Romney Ahead In CaliforniaBy Eric Kleefeld - February 3, 2008, 3:18AMA new Zogby poll in California — a state that may well decide the direction of the Democratic race — shows Barack Obama taking a small lead over Hillary Clinton, within the margin of error. Obama has 45% to Clinton's 41%, with Obama's 20-point lead among men making up for Hillary's 11-point lead with women. On the Republican side, Mitt Romney has taken an apparent edge himself of 37% to John McCain's 34%, followed by Mike Huckabee with 12%. Although McCain has the support of the state Republican establishment, led by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Romney leads among those who say immigration and the war on terror are their top issues — probably owing to McCain's support for immigration reform

Romney Wins Maine - Race and Delegate Update
Romney won in Maine on Saturday by a landslide (he got 52% of the vote). Of course the media won't make a big deal of it because Romney won (it's only a big deal when someone they support wins). Apparently they had great voter turnout, and in some areas the biggest since Ronald Reagan was running in the 80's. The best part is that McCain got two huge (or at least he thinks they are) endorsements from two Maine Senators and is still getting slain by Romney. Heck, Ron Paul is in a close race with McCain for second (good job Ron)! Well done Maine ... you are an example for the rest of us and vote like true conservatives should ... you know ... for conservatives (not male versions of Hilary Clinton)! Maine has 21 delegates up for grabs (but 3 are unpledged). So Romney took all 18 availa

The Dems Debate Reaffirmed Why I support Romney and Conservatism
Watching the Democratic debate tonight, I realized three things: First, I realized how much I disagree with some of the Democratic views expressed (it was more of a reaffirmation than a revelation). Conservatism, even though it doesn't seem so at first, is about hope. It is about lifting people up and giving them confidence and self-respect. To those who truly understand, it is far more merciful to people that liberalism.Second, I was impressed with Barrack Obama's ability to not only listen to his opponent, but give her respect (at least at this particular debate). This is the polar opposite to McCain who only showed pure hatred, immaturity, lack of humility and inability to talk about the issues, instead evading tough questions by taking shots at Romney or stating who endorsed him.

Romney Accuses McCain Of Dirty Tactics!!!
Granted, Romney did raise fees in MA. and I didn't agree with it. Of course, Reagan did a couple of things I didn't agree with either; no one is perfect. But let us look into why I disagree with McCain more:1. His political temper tantrum after losing the nomination to President Bush was enough to turn me off.2. He supported the Edwards, McCain, Kennedy "Patients Bill Of Rights". This was nothing more than a gateway to economic anarchy. The so-called "bill of rights" allowed employees to sue their employers if their HMO's didn't pay their claims. Basically, the only people who would've got anything was ambulance chasing attorneys. What as funny was that McCain was the spokesman of the bill. He endorsed on every network he could sell it too. After the bill cleared the Senate, we find out he

Romney/McCain Strategies Revealed in Post-Florida Speeches
Needless to say, I was disappointed by John McCain's victory last night in Florida. But what disappoints me even more is John McCain's character and integrity, or at least the lack thereof. Back in 2000 when McCain lost to Bush in South Carolina, despite his heralded victory in New Hampshire, many attributed his loss to last minute lies and gossip about him. He was so angry about how unfairly his opposition was fighting that he made a speech that offended many social conservatives, implying that his loss was partly because of them and their bias against him. A few years later was a key player in passing the bill McCain-Feingold, which put major restrictions on how candidates could raise money and limited their ads to the issues, among other things. Many social conservatives felt and

      Romney Loses Florida Primary
(Associated Press):Sen. John McCain won a breakthrough triumph in the Florida primary Tuesday night, gaining the upper hand in the battle for the Republican presidential nomination ahead of next week's contests across 21 states.McCain and Romney clashed early and often, in personal appearances and paid television advertising, in a bruising week of campaigning in Florida.Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, said his career as a private businessman made him perfectly suited to sit in the Oval Office with a recession looming. Sen. McCain argued he knew his economics well enough, and that his career in the military and in Congress made him the man to steer the country in an age of terrorism.By the campaign's final hours, the two men hurled insults at one another, each saying the other ho

      McCain Beats Romney in Florida
John McCain, once considered completely out of the race, has made a John Kerry like come back. That said I imagine he hopes the similarity between the two campaigns goes no farther. The race between McCain and Romney was a squeaker with only a 5% difference. The real news of this primary is Rudy Giuliani's distant third place finish. And Huckabee is not even on the radar for Florida. Giuliani bypassed ealier states to concentrate his efforts and money on Florida but to no avail. My prediction is that Giuliani and maybe even Huckabee will drop out shortly after Super Tuesday. Giuliani's cash is probably drying up right about now and unlike Romney he does not have the personal resources to continue for an extended period. On the Democrat side the candidates all had agreed to not campaign in

Romney - McCain Race In Florida May Not Be a Close As We Think
As we saw in New Hampshire with Hillary Clinton's surprise victory over Barack Obama (who was supposed to win by a 10% margin), polls aren't always the most accurate. Admittedly, though, they are fairly "on" most of the time. However, according to the ACT Blog article "A Problem in the RCP Average", Romney may actually have a bigger lead in Florida than the major polls are telling us. I have updated the numbers since the above mentioned article was written. This is the average of all the latest polls (taken from the site realclearpolitics.com), which is far more accurate than any of the polls on their own. On average you can see that Romney and McCain are virtually tied for the lead. I have updated the numbers since the above mentioned article was written. Rudy Giulia
