Why we care to know how squirrels communicate is anyone's guess, but it seems that this research is so important that a robot squirrel is being employed to live amongst the regular squirrel population. In fact, "Rocky" here (named after the cartoon character) is one of a growing legion of robo-creatures designed to study animals in their natural habitat. 2 packages chocolate chips3 eggs, separated1 pint whipping cream2 tablespoons granulated sugarAngel food cake Melt chocolate chips and sugar together over hot water. Beat egg yolks and gradually add chip mixture. Cool 5 minutes. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into chocolate mixture. Beat whipping cream until stiff, then fold into mixture. Line a buttered 12 x 8-inch pan with bite-size pieces of angel food cake. Cover cake with a layer of sauce. Repeat the process ending with sauce on top. Sprinkle with nuts. Chill overnight. We started our staff trip from Banff to Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer and what a beautiful journey. We were able to enjoy both Gold Leaf and Red Leaf services, both were fantastic and the meals were delicious. After a scenic journey, we arrived in Vancouver and had the night to explore the city.The next day we went on site inspections of several hotels in Vancouver including the Pacific Palisades, Carmana Plaza, and Sandman Downtown; all wonderful hotels, each unique in it's own way. Then we had the rest of the morning and afternoon to explore the city.I went up the Lookout Tower with Shauna and Dean, what a great way to orientate your self with the city. You can see everything and they have little plaques that tell you where you are. Then I ventured off to Stanley Park where I walked for what seemed like an enternity; that place is huge! I saw all sorts of animals and unique trees, really nice walking paths and rest stops along the way. Then off to the Vancouver Aquarium, w

More on the title later! Friday morning was pretty quite at work. Al had Thursday and Friday off, Brett was at a funeral and Karl was out and about in the works van down south delivering somethings. This past week, I went on a trip to Vancouver aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. It was a two day journey where we stopped in Kamloops for the first night and what an experience!! We travelled through the Rockies in comfort and style and saw the mountains from a completely different perspective. We actually travelled through two mountains in the spiral tunnels. Besides the gorgeous views, there were many animal sightings. The staff on the Rocky Mountaineer were great and you felt like you were traveling first class. In the stop over in Kamloops, we went to a dinner and a show. The food was delicious and then we enjoyed the Two River Junction Show. Our trip to Vancouver was short but enjoyable. We stayed at the Pacific Palisades. Wow!! What a unique and beautiful hotel. The view from my room was breathtaking and from the 22nd floor, I was able to see the ocean, the city-line, the mountains and many more things. The sunsets and sunrises from the balcony where just picture-perfect.

 We are getting excited about our return trip this fall back to Rocky Mountain National Park after 8 years. Our guidebooks will be updated to include new segments. I'm sure that the outskirts and Estes Park has grown more with tourism. It was fun to ride bikes around Estes Park and explore the town, but our favorite was around the park itself. We did go to Denver recently. There sure wasn't much left of Lulu City though (probably nothing left now). It was an old silver mine town. All we saw was a few tumble down logs that used to be a house. We wandered off the trail and found the old mine which had iron bars across it. We had a good time playing with
