Good news for John McCain in Colorado. Despite the Obama bounce, Obama's lead actually shrank in Colorado, from six points to two, according to Rasmussen. Colorado is fast shaping up to be 2008's Florida'00/Ohio'04. The state seems to get more competitive by the day and it's 9 electoral votes appear crucial to Democratic White House hopes.Charlie Cook has Colorado listed as the 4th biggest tossup

I never stopped longing for another glimpse of these mountains. Now I live my life in such a way, I can go to the mountains when I choose. It's the most wonderful freedom. Bottom of the 13th. Down by two. The greatest closer in baseball history is on the mound. A double to lead off, things are looking bright. Another double, down by one! A triple, the game is tied! Next runner is intentionally walked. Next pitch: a fly ball to right, caught... the runner tags up... there's going to be a play at the plate... he might not make it... here it comes... the catcher

This gorgeous black gelding is available only because of the hay shortage and I need to scale back. He is located in North Carolina, so that puts him in close proximity to some of you who may have wanted a Rocky but did not want to drive all the way to Kentucky. He is sired by International champion, Shepherd's Snowy River. I can send you pictures of the colt and his sire. He gaits at liberty and will be tall for a Rocky, probably about 15.1hh with large bone structure. He has a current coggins and is UTD on all shots. He is already gelded for you. He has not been handled a lot but he leads, ties and he loaded on the trailer in about 5 minutes the first time he saw one. He just needs someone to spend time with him and make friends. If he doesn't sell then I'll be showing him at halter next summer. If you would like pictures please email me at racknabout@charter.net and I will send you more photos and information. Delivery available within 75 miles of Lincolnton, NC for an addi

I’ve been neglecting my blog lately! Bad bad bad. But today I decided to update things with a short post. I’m in California right now preparing for a week of photo shoots. 14 corporate head shots, 3 magazine assignments and two weddings. Whoah! I flew in the evening of July 4th, so I managed to see fireworks shows from the airplane from Denver all the way to California. The coolest was flying into San Luis Obispo, where I got to see the fireworks exploding above the thick marine layer that had formed over the ocean. It was amazing watching these bursts illuminate the fog below.
Aaaanyway, a few days ago I shot Allison and Ben’s engagement session. We cruised in and out of Rocky Mountain National Park, and along the scenic Highway 7 with their two pups. Came away with some cool stuff. Congrats, you two! I look forward to the wedding!
I'm still feelin' the love for Colorado, my friends. My perception of the state of Colorado has always been colored by news like this and the admittedly narrow liberal Masshole view of the west. Aw, hell - let's be honest: the rest of the country, except our comrades along the coasts, is generally viewed by we Bluestaters as... uhm... kinda IGnorant. Complete generalization, but work with me here.We arrived in CO just fine, having driven up to Boston and having met my most excellent SIL at the airport. She hopped in the minivan and took the kids away, and we headed into the maw of air travel. Yes, I took my Ativan, and was fairly mellow about the flying, which sucked as usual. Luckily? I can't remember too much of it! Yay drugs! We flew into Denver, got our rental and headed up to Boulder. When we checked into the hotel, the front desk clerk gave a little extra "OH! Helllooo!" emphasis to our welcome. This was explained when we got up to the room to find a bottle of champagne on ice

Today, it has been 3 years since I recovered from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or RMSF - a disease caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, a species of bacteria that is spread by hard ticks. On one hand, it is kind of cool that I had contracted a relatively rare and almost exotic disease (only ~800 reported cases per year), on the other, I had a very good chance of dying (>30%) because I was never treated for RMSF with antibiotics. I am deeply upset and saddened by this news. I have dedicated years to this organization and tons of my own money and I believe in the organization tremendously and I believed in J. Dart as the leader of that organization for many more years to come. With that being said, Peter J. Dart(or J. Dart as most know him) will be a tremendous loss to the Elk Foundation. His shoes will be incredibly hard to fill! He was a leader, He inspired people, He is a someone I will always look up to in life and be motivated by. He is a conservation god!I am sure I will have a ton more to say on this as time goes on. As a volunteer for this organization and as a life member I want to be led, I want to be inspired and I want this organization to grow in members and in the habitat that it protects. I hope the board of Directors understands the immense shoes it now has to fill and I hope they never forget the tremendous responsibility they have in choosing a leader that will inspire the volunteers as

This latest from the Rocky Mountain News:"There have been rumors Denver might send Jake Plummer, Tatum Bell and their first-round pick to Houston for the Texans No. 8 pick in the draft, in the hopes of drafting Adrian Peterson." -- Rocky Mountain NewsThis news only a rumor at this point, but it makes sense for both Denver and Houston. Jake Plummer is no longer playing any major role in the offense, barring a Jay Cutler injury; Tatum Bell is a bit undersized and is not a prototypical Denver runner... Mike Bell was the goal line and short yardage back during the season; and Adrian Peterson has tremendous upside but is a risk because of injury. If he ends up in Denver and can keep healthy, there is no doubt in my mind that he can perform at the same level Clinton Portis did during his stint with the team -- 1500 yards, 10-15 touchdowns, 5 yards per carry.Texans fans rejoice; you're team is upgrading its two positions that are in need of the most help! The Sporting News has reported that
