My hometown team, the Kansas Jayhawks, won the National Championship on Monday. Having grown up about two blocks from campus, my parents started taking me to basketball games when I was a small child, and I was ecstatic with their win.In honor of their victory, the American Lawyer conducted an interview with KU's general counsel, available here. He discusses how he got the job, the game, and celebrations after the game, accurately stating: "It was just a tremendous, unbelievable game."Among the legal issues currently being litigated by KU (though not discussed in the interview) is one lawsuit against a Lawrence, Kansas retailer that sells T-shirts – Joe-College.com. Many of the Joe College T-shirts have silly or irreverent slogans related to Kansas athletics, such as "Super Mario 15,"
11:58 I don't know if I can coherently write about that game. I definitely can't right now. Check back in a minute.12:03 John Calipari, on his team's free throw shooting (video):"I never worried about it because I know my guys are mentally tough and they've got good mechanics."12:11 So, I guess all this insanity started after Arthur hit the long two (terrible shot selection) to pull within 7 with 1:57 left. By the way, contrary to popular opinion (at ESPN, SI, CBS, even the KC Star), you can see clearly here that Kansas WON the game, not that Davidson lost it. I hated every second of this game other than the last one. But, just to be clear, and the video shows this, Curry didn't give up the ball at the end because he was scared to take it, he gave up the ball because of the suffocating defense of Rush and Collins. Curry never had a chance at the shot, nor did the other guy who actually missed. I didn't realize this at the time and thought we got lucky, but after watching the replay 15 or 20 times, it wasn't luck. The shot had no chance. Also, this was a tough, tough game. Everyone said KU got lucky to play a 10 seed. Bullshit. I would have much rather seen Wisconsin, we'd have beaten
