The San Diego Chargers normally are stoked to be facing the Oakland Raiders -- a team they've beaten 10 straight times. LaDainian Tomlinson should be geeked to be facing his favorite punching bag. Instead, there's a gloom around the Chargers -- and with good reason. Once considered Super Bowl favorites, the Chargers (4-8) have lost three straight and five of six.

Sibling rivalry is still a new concept to me. I mean, in essence I “get it”. Force a small group of kids to live together every day and watch as they attempt to do each other in every week/day/hour. The age old squabble over the family thrown. Even if 10 minutes later you’r whining about how the family thrown is old and ugly and embarrasses you when your friends come over. Last night I went a local high school game. It just so happened that it was a rivalry game of epic proportions. These two teams have been rivals forever and to put fuel on the fire the Head Coach of team A use to be the Head Coach for team B just last year. Geographically, the teams school districts border each other with cousins sometimes playing against cousins. The question that I pose is in the is day an age with the escalting violence at schools and the younger generations lack of attention span, how does a school put on a rivalry game which will live on in local lore as much as the happenings on the field? Planning- Most rivalry games are a yearly event. meaning that they are ont he schedule, usuualy the sameweek, every season. So planning for the eventis that much easier. Ever since Isabel can crawl, Ian has been acting very violently towards her. He has been pushing her very hard resulting her falling with the head knocks on the floor - many, many times. Despite us explaining to him that it hurts, he keeps doing it. I did all that I could do and learnt from books and websites. I explained that it hurts.  I demonstrated on him how Isabel may feel.  I put him on time-out.  I asked him why, I guessed why, and I offered him solutions.  I taught him how to deal with situations (e.g. if she takes his toys how should he react, if she blocks his way what should he do, etc). This is something I didn’t even think about til I read the article over at the Boston Herald. I forgot about the Yankees having a new pitcher from Japan, Kei Igawa, plus Hideki Matsui. This is what Yankees General Manager, Brian Cashman, had to say about the “The Greatest Sports Rivalry” heading to Japan now: “We have two great organizations that both respect each other and now we'll take that battle overseas. As a former wrestler myself, occasionally I blog about the Sport Of Wrestling which in Iowa is among the best in the world at the High School, Collegiate and Olympic levels. The meet yesterday was filled with intimidation, intensity and rivalry on the mat between wrestlers and off the match with coaching staffs. Had you asked me prior to the meet who would prevail, I would have given the nod to Iowa State. Was I ever wrong! There was sideshow had to do with something about the ISU assistant coach Hartung, who was a former coach at Iowa under Zalesky. ISU received a warning against their bench. When you think of rivalries the first that come to mind tend to be the national rivalries that we always see on TV, hear about on the radio, and watch when they are televised. You have USC-Notre Dame, Ohio State-Michigan and Florida-Georgia just to name a few. Here in Fresno we tend to think about Fresno State-Hawaii as the rivalry that we love/hate the most.
