A reader of the blog sent me this message.Have you noticed that the Oregonian's Bought + Sold column (published Thursdays) has stopped printing real market value (RMV) figures? For years I have read the column and there was always the zip code, street address, sale price, and the RMV and almost without exception the sale price was way over the RMV. Then several weeks ago without comment the Oregonian stopped showing the RMV and listed just the sale price. I had to go to portlandmaps.com to get the RMV figures for interesting addresses.Guess what? Several of them sold for less than the RMV, especially those over $350K. So here’s the riddle of the day with the new bike.
Demetrius has never been a strong bike rider. Beginning and end. But with the new bike, which is bigger than him, the helmet, the industrial strength training wheels…he feels secure and safe, and is becoming a much stronger biker. While Maya flies by at 30 miles an hour, chatting and putting her feet up on the bar (she’s going to go flying soon off of the bike, which will be a good lesson for her), Demetrius is plodding along…but he’s not plodding so much any more.
