Fenders bent, egos wounded: Another raucous short track race at Richmond
Saturday’s Richmond race provided almost enough excitement to cover for the lack thereof in a few other races this season. The first half of the race did not as much follow that script, as Denny Hamlin led nearly every lap and there were few cautions. Just past the race’s 2nd half, on lap 233, 11 [...]

      Richmond Quotes
"Everybody probably is racing around the race track scared to death of wrecking Dale Earnhardt Jr., so why wouldn't I be any different?'' Busch said. "But that was just a product of good hard racing and I apologize that it happened and I hate it that it did. If I wanted to do it deliberately I would have waited until the last lap where I probably still could have won the race."I'll say it again, its just unfortunate circumstances for him because he didn't get a win, and for me because now I've got to put up with it.'' (you smart ass punk, I wish I could punch you right in the mouth for that comment)Without seeing a replay, Earnhardt guessed that it wasn't deliberate. But as his winless streak reached 72 races on the two-year anniversary of his last victory, he wondered if Busch would need

Good advice for Richmond Virginia Home Buyers!

However, I am grateful to all of you guys that still swing by here once in a while to check up on things!Anyways, earlier last week went went for a Korean meal in Richmond--samgyeopsal and samgyetang to be exact! This has only been the second time we've had Korean since we arrived back in Canada. You can read about our first encounter in Coquitlam here. Why you ask? Well, I think we both had more than enough of our fair share during our time teaching English in Korea. Plus, it's so darn hard to eat anything else but delicious and cheap Chinese food in Ricemond! So our restaurant this time around was none other than Ky

      Vietnamese Noodles @ Richmond, Melbourne
One of them places, my cousin brought us to , was this restaurant in Richmond. Unfortunately for me, I have forgotten what this place is called, and in Richmond, you have many Pho houses on that particular street. We also walked into a few Vietnamese provision shops to look at the abundance of food stuff we can buy for cooking Asian Food. So, when we walked in, the restaurant was already quite full. Mind you it was about 12pm, not exactly lunch time, at least not for us. We were just doing brunch. The reason why I did not remember much of it was because I did not do the ordering nor did I pay much attention to its menu.My cousin ordered this mini fried popiah, which was quite tasty. To eat this fried spring roll, we were given a bowl of sweet chilli sauce , which tasted like less starchy Thai Chilli Sauce. As an additional side dish for our noodles, we were given this plate of beansprouts, and mint leaves (really reminds me of ULAM). We were to squeeze a bit of lemon onto the sala

The Breakdown of a Chinese Dinner in Richmond
It's been a while since I've posted about food back home, so why not take a look at what we had for my dad's recent birthday dinner in Richmond? For the past two months he's been coming over from Victoria to practice for his entry in a Pro-Am ballroom dance competition! He placed 1st and 2nd in the two heats he entered...way to go dad!Let's break down what happens at a typical Chinese dinner (well in my family anyways). Since it was a birthday celebration for my dad (and my sister's BF), we decided to have some king crab (read about my king crab in Seoul experience here). First things first, the waiter will always bring you a crab to "display" it at the table. It's like deciding on a bottle of wine and having the server show you the bottle before he opens it--except sometimes I wonder if the crab you picked is the actual one they serve you! Next time, I'm going to initial each leg and the shell with a Sharpie to make sure...Our appetizer consisted of BBQ roast pork surrounded b

Continued dishonesty at the SBC Richmond
At the website of the Saint Benedict Center (Richmond, New Hampshire), there is a response to the Chronicle episode which aired last Thursday. According to the SBC, "A fraudulent claim that the followers of Father Feeney are 'not Catholic' went uncorrected."This is false on two levels. First of all, I never made the claim that all of those who have a love for Fr. Feeney are "not Catholic." There are communities in Still River, Massachusetts which have been regularized and which are in communion with the Church. These communities have not embraced - and propagated - a rabid anti-Semitism.However, I was referring to the Saint Benedict Center in Richmond, New Hampshire. In a letter to Mrs. Terri O'Rorke (which was referenced in the Chronicle piece) we read:"I write to you in reply to your letter dated May 24, 2007. I share your concern about the ongoing controversy and difficulties with the Saint Benedict Center. As you know, the Saint Benedict Center has no permission or authority to

Eating at Garden City Hot Pot in Richmond
When you're in Richmond, BC, also known as the Hong Kong of Canada (orHongcouver) as some may see it, you end up eating a variety of cuisine. When you're not experiencing the chaos of a plane flying into a condo, you're eating. On this occasion we went out for hot pot at Garden City Hot Pot (it's on Garden City Road of course). As some of you may already know, hot pot is where you cook raw ingredients in boiling broth of your choice. The concept is similar to shabu shabu that we experienced in Korea. Some say hot pot is healthy but when you consider how salty and addictive the sauces are (you dip eat bite in a soya sauce mixture andother MSG-laden sauces) I would think the opposite!Normally when we go out for hot pot we go to all you can eat places for the best deal. Too bad this wasn't the case at Garden City Hot Pot! My sister likes this place so we went here with her and her best friend. We ended up ordering too much and literally paid the price for it! The food was identical to

Plane Crashes Into My Old Home in Richmond!
Hey everyone...some crazy news! As you may have heard, a plane crashed into an apartment tower in Richmond, BC! The crazy thing is that this apartment complex is the same tower where my sister used to live! We were banking at the time and then I ran home and got my SLR (this happened a block away from where I currently reside. Check out the following pictures taken with my 70-300mm IS (non DO)! One person has been reported dead, the pilot. Right now, there are a bunch of reporters reporting live on CTV, CBC, and other news outlets! We ran into one of our old neighbors outside of the building. She said she felt the building shake, then got a call from a neighbor that a plane had crashed into the building! So of course she evacuated the scene pretty quickly! Good thing we don't live there anymore, as I'm curious about the structural integrity of the tower after this impact! The scene from Tsim Chai Noodles across the street from the Richmond Public Market:The view from inside RPM; imagin

My Monthly Business Trips to Richmond
This past May, I began a 6-month, 16-day leadership training course offered by my employer. I spend 2-4 days each month at the Virginia Crossings Resort just north of Richmond, Virginia. Since I’m spending so much time down there this year, I thought I’d snap a photo to share. These are my first business trips, so I’ve finally had a reason to use my corporate credit card. I’ve learned that business travel tends to involve a lot of eating. We’ve gone out for everything from deep dish pizza to steaks. Last Thursday night, when we went bowling in the evening, I scored an all time high of 157. At last week’s session, we also learned a little more about the full day Challenge Discovery program we would be doing in September. Basically, it’s a series of physical and mental activities we’ll be completing in teams. I’ve always wanted to do a team building exercise of this nature. If it involves helmets, ropes, and liability

Redman activated, Pena sent to Richmond
Well after yesterdays disappointing loss to the Nationals. The Braves activated the black hole of wins Mark Redman and sent Catcher Brayan Pena to Triple A Richmond. Richmond columnist calls Erwin's typos "a lie."
Yesterday, Richmond columnist Don McNay tossed in his two-cents worth on Barbara Erwin's resume problems in his article, Unbridled Typos.""...[Dr.] Erwin may need a remedial course in typing. She also might need a course in semantics. In my high school grammar classes, we used different words than Ms. Erwin for incorrect information. Just a few words on the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond after being postponed.
So the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond for the Nextel Cup Series just finished up a couple minutes ago with Jimmie Johnson winning with his Hendrick Teammates dominated this race thought, I did notice something with the Hendrick cars including Johnson's, his right front tire is cambered in/out - meaning the top of the tire is leaned in so much with the bottom only looking like the inside is touching at all...interesting.Nevertheless, by the end of this race, most of these cars looked like they just finished a Demo Derby.Should NASCAR make the COT permanent in 2008? Simply put, YES, still I would like to see NASCAR add a couple more races to the COT schedule this year including the fall Charlotte, Atlanta and Homestead races to show everyone just what this car is going to be like.I would also like to see the COT in the Nextel AllStar Challenge at Charlotte in a couple of weeks too, but that's little notice for everyone.I am beginning to like this Car of Tomorrow for its good racing and ma
