In 2003, Jenner admitted her guilt in taped interviews and former Governor Bill Janklow (R) commuted her sentence to 100 years in prison. Chief Deputy Attorney General Mark Barnett opposes her release, however, because he says Jenner privately tells fellow inmates that she is innocent. Nutrients that may be effective prophylactic agents for migraine include the following:MagnesiumStudies have shown that up to 50 percent of migraine patients suffer from magnesium deficiencies during an acute attack.take magnesium citrate 160-mg capsules at night before bed butterbur herb Butterbur root.Several studies found butterbur root ( Petasites hybridus) is an effective prophylactic (pencegahan) agent for migraine.take 50 milligrams (mg) up to three times dailyfeverfew herbFeverfew.Feverfew ( Tanacetum parthenium) prep

      Hotel Del Coronado Revisited
Each time I return to San Diego, I try to visit some of my favorite spots. One of my favorites is the Hotel Del Coronado located across the bay from downtown San Diego. This structure and its surrounding grounds are absolutely beautiful especially when the sun is gleaming down. You will be spoiled once you have stayed in this popular vacation resort. The entire experience along with enjoying the nearby white, sandy beaches and spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean will linger in your memory for a long time. In my painting, I show two hotel guests relaxing under the trees in the shade with part of the hotel rising in the background. 11" x 14" ink and watercolor.

      Little Tibet Revisited
On the afternoon of March 22, I decided to revisit the Tibetan neighborhood in Chengdu. I was overdue for a Tibetan meal with butter tea, and was wondering what the scene was like in that area given the escalation of violent protests which had occurred in Tibet and western China. I was immediately struck by [...]

      Georgia: A Pardon Revisited
In August 2005, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles granted a pardon to Lena Baker. The Board believed Baker should have been charged with voluntary manslaughter instead of first-degree murder. The twist was that Baker had been denied clemency once before, back in 1945, and went on to became the only woman ever executed in Georgia's electric chair. Her final words were, " "What I done, I did in self-defense. I have nothing against anyone ... I am ready to meet my God." Actress Tichina Arnold is now playing Baker in "The Lena Baker Story," a featured film at the Atlanta Film Festival. See story here and here.

      Bottoming Process Revisited
From Bloomberg:Securities sales by UBS AG, the world's largest money manager, and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. underpinned a rally in financial stocks that may signal an end to eight months of market turmoil.UBS, battered by the biggest writedowns from the collapse of the U.S. subprime mortgage market, announced plans to seek 15 billion Swiss francs ($14.8 billion) in a rights offer to replenish capital, while New York-based Lehman, the fourth-largest U.S. securities firm, raised $4 billion in a stock sale. The fund-raising plans quelled speculation the companies might follow New York-based Bear Stearns Cos., which agreed to sell itself last month to JPMorgan Chase & Co. for a fraction of its market value after a run on the company. Florida: A Pardon Revisited
In this editorial, looking back on the governorship of Reuben Askew (1971-1978), Martin Dykman notes:In another defining moment, Askew in 1975 approved a full pardon for Freddie Pitts and Wilbert Lee, blacks who had spent 12 years in prison, eight of them on death row, for another man's crime at Port St. Joe. News that he was considering the pardon was poorly received in the Panhandle and cost him votes in his 1974 re-election.A later study by the Florida Commission on Capital Cases concluded 23 inmates on death row in the state were wrongfully convicted. See the Commission's study here.

      Campaign 08: Terrorist Pardons Revisited
Dick Morris has written an editorial which argues Bill Clinton made "a significant admission" in Texas earlier this month when he said that he had decided to pardon Puerto Rican terrorists (FALN) in 1999 "based on the stuff" he was given to him "by the staff." Morris suggests the "clear conclusion" is that "it was Clinton's political staff who pushed for clemency - with the obvious goal of helping Hillary Clinton's bid to become a New York senator." Morris also reminds us the New Republic learned that, two days before the president announced the clemency deal, New York City Councilman Jose Rivera "personally presented" Mrs. Clinton with "a packet on clemency, including a letter asking her to 'speak to the president and ask him to consider granting executive clemency' to the prisoners." You can never be certain about the twists and turns of judicial systems, particularly as they operate in other national jurisdictions. Here in the UK, the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 is about to come into force. For convenience, I have referred to it elsewhere in this newsletter simply as the "Corporate Manslaughter Act"Since it is untested in the courts, there remains a degree of uncertainty in regard to its application, though we are able to make a fair assessment of its likely impact on UK businesses and other organisations. From directors down, if you have any responsibility for health and safety in your organisation, then it behoves you to learn as much as you can about this new legislation and ensure you are well prepared for it.more...

      Texas: Pardon Revisited
The Board of Regents will soon vote on the appointment of Ross Margraves Jr. to the Texas A&M at Galveston's Board of Visitors. Margraves is a Houston lawyer, Galveston property owner and avid Aggie fundraiser. What makes it all interesting is that, in 1996, he was also convicted of using a state-owned plane for a personal trip while serving as a member of the board. In 2003, Margraves' felony was pardoned in a 9-to-8 vote taken by the Board of Pardons and Paroles. Gov. Rick Perry then endorsed the pardon. Margraves says the previous conviction "doesn't have anything to do with this." See story here.

      300 Workout: Revisited
Mostly everybody that's hardcore in the gym has heard about and maybe even tried the 300 workout. You know...the workout "King Leonidas" went through to look all chiseled out. Warning to those that don't know...this is not a workout for people who are just starting out! This workout will break you down physically and mentally and most will definately feel it the next day. Of course, if you're a glutton for punishment...be my guest, lol. It's even claimed that the 300 workout is so brutal, that the breakdowns it causes muscle fibers could be enough to be toxic to the kidneys...damn. Don't feel rejected if you're a beginner...you can still do this workout, but not at the intensity of someone who is great shape. It's recommended that you start slowly with this workout, build your way up. The

      Gastown, Night Scene - Revisited
OK, so overnight I sent a couple of guys to take the ugly boxes out of the scene and this morning I redid the painting. Seriously, I did not like the boxes there at all. They started off being the steam clock, then they became a newspaper dispenser, and then just boxes. Non of these worked, so they had to go. I like this version much better.Funny, but with Watercolour you don't have the luxury of editing as you do with other media. I love the freedom!

      Arkansas: Pardon Revisited (Update)
In a recent post (here: Arkansas: Pardon Revisited), PardonPower discussed the case of the former Attorney General of Arkansas, Steve Clark, who now desires to be mayor of Fayetteville. Problem is Clark is a convicted felon. Good news is that he was pardoned by former Gov. Mike Huckabee, in 2004. It is now contended that Arkansas Supreme Court rulings suggest that a pardon alone does not make Clark eligible. The attorney for the secretary of state says an expungement of the conviction is required before Clark can run again. See story here.

Windows XP Revisited - Teaching the Faithful Old Dog Some New Tricks
Just lately it seems to be the fashion amongst writers on the internet to compare and criticise operating systems. While one user talks up the merits of Ubuntu Linux versus Windows Vista on her blog, another is quick to criticise Ubuntu’s lack of user friendly features and available software. In this article I am here to sing the praises of the old dog Windows XP. Once the all singing all dancing multimedia darling, XP is now the older brother of the much younger and trendier Windows Vista. While Vista can be the life and soul of the party, it is still very much a problem child for many users who are frustrated with incompatibilities, poor driver support and degraded performance in multimedia applications and games. If, like me, your Vista experience wasn't all you hoped it would be, rea

      Arkansas: Pardon Revisited
Steve Clark served as attorney general for the State of Arkansas from 1979-90 and was widely considered to be a potential Democratic nominee for governor in 1990. Then an investigation found that he had spent $ 115, 000 in such a way that he was eventually convicted of felony theft. Clark resigned from office and was fined $10,000. He was also ordered to pay restitution and court costs. In 2004, then-Gov. Mike Huckabee pardoned Clark, who is now an instructor for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Clark also collects fees to give speeches on addiction, ethics and the law. Now, he is considering running for Fayetteville mayor. The Arkansas State Constitution prohibits those who are convicted of embezzling public money or “other infamous crimes” from holding any office of trus
