If I am to rank these callcenters Convergys would be the first followed by eTelecare then we have People Support. This could happen because of a decision by supplier Petronet LNG Ltd to stop gas deliveries and divert them to ONGC. 5 mln tpa of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be diverted to ONGC's proposed petrochemical complex at Dahej, Gujarat. GAIL's Pata petrochemical complex in Uttar Pradesh, built with an investment of Rs 3,350 crore, requires around 8mtpa of gas. Failure to tie up an alternative source would imply that GAIL runs the risk of letting its capacity remain idle. Domain Parking Revenues So Far
I read something recently on the bulletin boards that makes domain ownership sound strikingly similar to real estate ownership. Someone suggested that a good first goal for the first year is to aim to make back the $10 that you spent registering the domain. In essence, you want the 'renter' to pay for your mortgage. Prior to doing all this reading, I thought to myself, "$10 in a year per site? That should be no problem." Well, I think I'm wrong. It's going to be a lot harder than I thought to break even.As of today, I have made a total of 62 cents using Namedrive and Sedo. I own 30 domains. It's seemingly quite pathetic. Only $299.38 more to earn before I break even. What's the lesson? There is no free lunch. I'm starting to view domain parking more like a patent than anything else. I own it, so that nobody else can. In the future, when I have more time, hopefully I will be able to do something with my domains, but for now, I'm just going to hold onto them.

What is a Fair Share for oil revenues?
When, later this month, Alberta’s Premier Ed Stelmach makes “the most important economic decision in the country this year” by determining what is a fair share for energy royalties, it will be the people making the decision, not the corporations.  That’s the central message of this fascinating Globe and Mail article about royalties from the Alberta oil patch entitled A deep well of discontent. The article explains that Stelmach is an entirely different guy from his monarch-like predecessor, Ralph Klein, who hung-out with such ease at the Calgary petroleum Club. But does he have the balls to take on the oil industry who is already vilifying him? This lengthy article is a great backgrounder to a vitally important issue.

Once the program is established, it will start to seep into the general fund expenditures over the years because of the fact that it was voter approved. “Its great and all that people are smoking less,” said Sue

      Revenues and Profits Per Employee
One metric that you can track in businesses is the revenue and profits per employee.  If you haven’t been doing so in your company, take a look at this number over a longer period, perhaps a few years or even longer term. What trends do you notice?  Are the numbers going up? The way that business is being done is changing over time.  We’ve moved from an agricultural society to an industrial society to a more information and service society.  I heard an author speak today mention another stage taking place where we’re moving to a more conceptual society. In these later couple stages, information and conceptual, it’s a very different way of operating than we had before.  Now, we have the capability to generate much more revenue and income per employee than we could before. The author really challenges businesses to take a look at their employees and see what could be outsourced and keep the headcount down even further.  In his own firm’s case, an

Great Content - The Secret Of High AdSense Revenues
There are two ways to think about AdSense: you can think of it as a way to use your website to make money; and you can think of it as a way to make money with a website. What's the difference? The difference is in the content. In the first case, you already have a website and you simply put AdSense on the page to turn it into cash. You might change the content a little to influence the ads and you could make sure that you include the best keywords to bring you the highest revenues. You should certainly play with the way the ads look on the page to make them attractive and unobtrusive - and there's a huge range of different strategies you can use to do that.Ultimately though, the content is there already. Such revenues will grow and multiply to add volumes to mobile value added services (VAS).Indian music industry earned more than 35 million dollar from such services which is equivalent to 20 per cent of its total revenue. The total mobile music downloads in Indian markets

VoIP revenues in North America to increase by 1431% by 2009 !
according to an Infonetics Research report , Voice-over-IP service revenues are poised for phenomenal growth in North America . That report predicts a growth rate of 1431% for VoIP service revenues, as they increase from $1.3 billion in 2004 to $19.9 billion in 2009.That increase is predicted despite the fact that most businesses recently surveyed by Infonetics expect to provide their own VoIP, using a service provider pipe and premises-based VoIP gear.VoIP revenues in 2004 represented less than 1% of total wireline carrier revenue. Many service providers are still trying to figure out how to structure their hosted voice offerings, as well as how to bill for, manage and secure VoIP services. Particularly in courting business VoIP customers, service providers have to develop a mix of offerings that takes into account both hosted services and managed IP-PBX offerings. Service providers must be able to mix and manage customer premises solutions with hosting solutions even for one customer,

Deferred Revenues – What Should the Balance Be?
If you have a business where you collect money upfront from customers, like a magazine subscription or an annual software license or some other type of annual service paid upfront, then you probably have to face the issue of estimating the deferred revenue liability on your balance sheet. Deferred revenues, that sounds like some accounting jargon.  What that means is you have to match your revenues with the period that you earned the revenues in.  A 12 month magazine subscription is earned one month at a time.  So, if somebody subscribed to your magazine in July, they would still have six months remaining at the end of the year and your deferred revenue liability for that customer would be half a year’s subscription of 50% of the total subscription price received.  If you offer multi-year plans, you can see that the liability is even more significant. So, this is a pretty important number to be estimating on the balance sheet.  For some companies, it can be t

      Crewe Alex maximise revenues...
The Alex get criticised by many supporters for failing to market the club effectively, and also for missing out on money-making schemes that would ease the annual loss. Well, in the last few weeks you can't complain about the efforts made. First we saw posters dotted around the town publicising the forthcoming league game vs Rotherham (24th March, adults only £10 btw). Many fans have called for such advertising in the past, so well done to the club (I've posted it on this blog a few times, and will do late next week as the match approaches). They are trying. Sadly, the match is against the rock-bottom Millers, plus the Alex are now very unlikely to scrape into the play-off positions. So it's a tricky game to sell to the casual. Then, thanks to eagle-eyed Maggie, I snapped the top of the Alex main stand where one of those mobile phone masts has appeared. Fair play, it's hard to spot, blends in well with the rood structure, and they club will, I assume, be making a few grand from ho

West Bengal revenues up after VAT implementation
As per expectations of the state finance minister and architect of the value-added tax (VAT) Asim Dasgupta, the West Bengal’’s revenue collections got a boost in the post-VAT regime, which came into being in the state since April 1, 2005. West Bengal has generated 17% more revenue in 2006-07, the second year after VAT’’s introduction in the state. Riding on an inherent buoyancy in the collection system, the state has mopped up Rs 3,175.39 crore from VAT in April-January in 2006-07, against Rs 2,717.14 crore in the corresponding period last year. Introduction of VAT appears to have come as a boon to the state ever since it was introduced here. Despite some teething trouble in bringing all registered dealers and manufacturers under the tax net, the state has realised Rs 3,665.3 crore from VAT in 2005-06, the first year of its implementation. With this, its total collections from VAT, sales tax and central sales tax has increased 7% to Rs 6,119 crore in the year, a

      Recurring Revenues or One-Time Revenues
What is the frequency of your customer buying? *         One-time *         Recurring Are you tracking it? Without knowing this number, you could have a false sense of security. Suppose a company is adding a lot of customers and sales are growing rapidly in the process.  Life is good, but is it as good as it seems?  It could be that the growth in revenues is all coming from new customers.  One or two orders and then the customers are done.  In order to keep up the sales growth, lots of new customers need to be added. That can build momentum in the short

      How Much Detail in Revenues
I was at a new client yesterday and it was music to my ears.  They were looking at going deeper into an area - well past what most people think about in their financials. That area was revenues.  The new client wanted to break revenues down into more lines of business.  They had good reasons for this: To really get an understanding of how they were making money by product line. To reflect warehousing as a profit center, since they were now providing warehousing services for customers and generating revenues from it. To make better decisions on pricing. To see how new product lines are coming along. To decide if any product lines should be phased out or outsourced. Very few companies do this well in their financial statements.  Typically revenues and cost of revenues are pretty collapsed, sometimes even just one line in the income statement for each.  Yet in the administrative cost area, there is much more detail. I think that is backwards.  Much of the detail in administrative

Rockwell Revenues Light But We'll Take Them
By William Trent, CFA of Stock Market BeatRockwell Automation (ROK) reported a 9% gain in sales and earnings that beat expectations. It's guidance was slightly on the light side for both sales (up 7-8% next year) and earnings ($3.70-$3.90 vs. consensus at $3.82.) The thing is, having seen leading tech companies post sales gains of 2% (Xerox) to 4% (Keane and CDW) or 5% (IBM) that 7-8% starts to look to us like ROK is on a roll.As we noted when we first wrote about the company, Rockwell Automation sells factory automation equipment. If ever there was an industry poised to do well in today's economic environment, Rockwell is in it.After reviewing the earnings release, about the only blemish we found was a decline in cash flow from operations due to higher funding requirements for the company's pension plans. Since they aren't the only ones in that boat (or its sister ship - the options backdating scandal) we don't worry too much about it as long as their growth rate is so much

American Express EPS Beats, But Revenues and Items Bring Questions
American Express (AXP) reported $0.76 EPS and revenues of $6.759 Billion, and the street was looking for $0.76 EPS and $6.82 Billion in revenues. So a beat on earnings and revenues barely missed the mark. This is $956 million in net income, up 11% from the $865 million posted in Q3 2005. It posted a return on equity of 33.6%. The quarter did include a $33 million ($24 million after-tax) gain related to the sale of the Company's card operations in Malaysia and Indonesia. These numbers are a bit skewed on a year-over-year basis because of discontinued Ameriprise results and other units. Before the earnings report AXP shares had climbed back into positive territory after being down 0.45% earlier in the trading day. Shares have now dropped back toward the lows of the day at $57.80, down 0.4% on the day. It is also very frequent that street ends up treating shares differently after the initial reaction. We'll have to see how the company outlines the overall structure in its confere
