Modus still confident about town revamp
Before Christmas I popped over to Manchester to see Modus in their Salford offices (they, if you didn't know, are the company behind the planned revamp of Crewe town centre). Smart place, some great designs, ideas and 3D models. They talked a good game. However, with the objections to the compulsory purchase orders came a few problems - not least from Cheshire County Council (something that still baffles me). And that's where we are, awaiting the results of the enquiry into the CPOs and whether the small print can be resolved. While all this goes on people have been gossiping, the Crosville Club think they're getting a new building and most of us are desperately hoping to see a bulldozer going loopy around the bus station. The Complete Chest Revamp For Men:
A couple of years back, the word ‘metrosexual’ hit men full smack in the face and society’s expectations of the modern male rose up considerably. No longer was it weird for men to even contemplate something like a face wash specially for the night and Italian cooking for the love of his life. The metrosexual male knew how to play society like a finely tuned violin and women simply loved not having to complain about dirty socks on the sofa for once. Today, the term still hangs around in restrooms, fashion magazines, preppy college clubs, corporate gossip rooms and the like and occasionally peeks around the corner just to keep things interesting. A by-product of the whole metrosexual revolution is the importance men pay to well-groomed chests. Earlier, cosmetic surgery had the male

      Alton Street play area revamp
Regular poster Tim (his web site) asked about the bulldozers that have been thundering around the Alton Street area for several weeks. It's the area a few yards from Flag Lane, just down from Crewe Swimming Baths. The basketball (pictured in the double snap) area is still intact, sitting beyond the car park behind the baths. Then, over the Valley Brook, there's the kids' play area. In fact, follow the path and brook a few hundred yards further and you arrive at Queens Park. A number of play facilities have been improved around the borough and this looks to be undergoing similar works. The shapes being created are usually filled with those kid friendly rubbery surfaces. Mea culpa and a revamp in the works
Over the weekend a food blogger that I admire left a snarky comment that I was a bad food blogger because I wrote paid reviews of products I didn't try, used photos from other people's food blogs, and posted recipes that I hadn't cooked up myself. I replied that I post recipes that sound interesting to me, that friends have sworn by, that were like something I’ve and eaten at a restaurant, or that I’ve actually cooked. I do post paid reviews of a few products I haven’t tried, but am interested in, thought was a cool idea, or have had a friend/relative try and swear by. I also post nonpaid reviews for products I use regularly. Also, I never use photos or recipes without giving a link to the website or blog that I’ve taken them from unless it’s a commercial product shot (for example, a cookbook cover from Amazon.com). She emailed me the next day to apologize and said that coming on someone's blog to tell them what to do wasn't her usual style. Realizing that everyone ha

Old, unsafe trees and unsightly over-planting have been removed. The lake has been partially drained ahead of a significant clean up. Plans and preparation for a new bridge across the lake are in place. However, it seems as though a lot of work is being carried out (with much more planned) and you have to wonder how this is likely to affect access to the park in spring and summer months, plus will this year's carnival go ahead? Dane Bank revamp edges closer
Wednesday night saw a consultation of St John's residents to discuss the proposed redevelopment of Crewe's main FE facility, South Cheshire College (Dane Bank College to many of us). A feisty meeting saw local and county councillors grilled about the likely impact the new buildings will have on the community in and around St John's. The end result, a magnificent new learning facility, will benefit the town enormously. However, consideration must be given to local people who could suffer through a changing environment and, potentially, an increase in traffic. As I grew up (down the road in Alsager) there were four choices as you reached 16 years of age. There was Radder (the old Radway Green Ordnance factory), Crewe Works, going into the sixth form at Alsager Comprehensive... or you were a rebel and you chose further education in Crewe, at Dane Bank. It was always seen as the grown up option instead of carrying on at school. I joined the Navy! Still, with the new-look eco college wil

Before the lead is submitted: Use targeting. Targeting a cost per acquisition-based offer may sound counterintuitive ("Why shrink my pool of potential customers if I only pay for those who submit my form anyway?"), but it can make all the difference if you define lead quality by specific demographic or geographic criteria.
