Songs that must be retired from movie soundtracks
I need your assistance, as my memory is only so good and all of the internets are only so much help here. Perhaps this post will help other geeks in the future.See, while I was sitting in the theater the other night waiting for the feature to begin, I was subjected yet again to the Fine Young Cannibals' 1989 smash hit "She Drives Me Crazy" playing in the trailer for the upcoming The Nanny Diaries. IMDb lists just three other high profile soundtrack appearances for the song (Hitch, The Other Sister, and Gross Anatomy), but I'm pretty sure that trailer appearances alone don't count towards that total (in case you're wondering, "Good Thing" has two such entries, and I'm not counting TV entries of foreign films). In fact, I'm going to go on the safe side and just multiply any IMDb soundtrack search total by 5 to completely unscientifically and woefully inaccurately calculate a songs' "trailer rating."Outside of the Cannibals, I know that there metric tons of these songs that get ove

Davey Concepcion’s Number to be Retired by Reds
I know this is a bit of old news, but I figure it should be mentioned. Before the Reds take the field agains the Chicago Cubs on July 28th, the team will officially retire shortstop Davey Concepcion’s number. The nine-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove recipient will see his number 13 displayed behind home plate at Great American Ball Park along side Reds greats; manager Fred Hutchinson’s (1), Johnny Bench (5), Joe Morgan (8), manager Sparky Anderson (10), Ted Kluszewski (18), Frank Robinson (20) and Tony Perez (24). Jackie Robinson’s number 42 is also retired by the Reds, like all other teams in Major League Baseball. No one has worn number 13 for the Reds sinc Concepcion retired. Eddie Miller in 1946, Eddie Pellagrini in 1952-53, and coach Ray Shore in 1966-67 are the only others to have worn the number in Reds history. Share This

Retired General: Bush Should Sign Bill
Debunking the theory that the military exclusively sides with the President on the Iraq fight, Retired General William Odom, Army Chief of Stafff for intelligence and Director of the National Security Agency under President Ronald Reagan implored the President to sign the funding bill past by Congress.Odom, despite not belonging to either political party, gave the weekly Democratic address today;"The challenge we face today is not how to win in Iraq; it is how to recover from a strategic mistake: invading Iraq in the first place. The president has let (the Iraq war) proceed on automatic pilot, making no corrections in the face of accumulating evidence that his strategy is failing and cannot be rescued. He lets the United States fly further and further into trouble, squandering its influence, money and blood, facilitating the gains of our enemies."Odom also said the President handed Iran and Al-Qaeda a great victory upon invading Iraq, which is all I've been saying in the first place.

GE: When Jack Welch Retired, He Went To Siemens
Stocks: (GE)(SI) When Jack Welch retired from GE, he went to rival Siemens. He isn't going to buy the Boston Globe or live with his younger wife, the defrocked editor of the Harvard Business Review. How can you tell? Look at the stock charts. Over the last five years, Siemens stock is up 60% and GE's is down almost 15%. Welch must have gone there. Siemens performance has his fingerprints all over it. Profits at Siemens rose eight-fold in its latest quarter, driven by it power-transmission and automation units. It got ride of its cellphone unit. It was not No. 1 or No. 2 in its market, so they sold it. Just like Welch would have. Revenue for the entire company hit 23.92 billion euros for the quarter up from 23.6 billion euros in the quarter a year ago. Profits were helped by the cutting of thousands of jobs, just like Neutron Jack would have done. Siemens went beyond having a good quarter. They raised their forecasts for the year and said that they would meet financial targets in

He had spoken about the issue more and more over the past several years, according to Begrich.
