Retaining visitors is an important aspect of keeping a blog going, especially one intended to generate revenue. However, there are a number of things that some bloggers don’t recognize as what I consider to be fundamentals for retaining readers. After blogging for several years on various blogging platforms, here is a list I’ve compiled of 10 simple ways to retain blog readership for new and current bloggers alike. Satisfy Your Visitors’ Needs Content is king. Write fresh content frequently. However, don’t try to simply write for the sake of writing. In the end, the quality of your posts will suffer, resulting in the opposite effect as is intended. Don’t simply link to other blog posts saying they’re interesting. Sure, it’s okay to link to a blog crediting an author

Once again, Texas Governor Perry has shown little regard for reality when selecting December special election runoff dates:
Gov. Rick Perry chose Dec. 18 for a runoff election for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives, rejecting a request by Tarrant County election officials.
Seriously, a team of monkeys with darts could have selected a better election date.
This is like a sequel to last year’s bad runoff election date set by Perry. In 2006, he set the Bonilla/Rodriguez runoff in Congressional District 23 for the festival of the Virgin of Guadalupe. This year, he’s picked a date that’s way too close to Christmas. Oh, and he decided to disregard other election dates, and the wishes of county officials in setting a date that will no doubt result in the most depressed voter turnout in special election history in this state:
The Fort Worth City Council set Dec. 11 as the date for its District 9 runoff more than a month ago. County election officials had asked Per

Singapore is already a financial hub in Asia alongside with Hong Kong and Tokyo, but it needs to retain high-valued talents to fill important positions in the private sectors, government-linked companies (GLCs) such as Singapore Technologies and Singapore Airlines (SIA), or even statutory boards such as CPF, HDB and LTA. I applaud Singapore’s “leaving no stones unturned” kind of approach in attracting global and regional activities with the introduction of numerous initiatives throughout the years to enhance our competitiveness in the global market. Two important examples were the recent reduction of the corporate tax rate by 2% from 20% to 18% and the increase in the corporate tax exemption threshold from S$100,000 to S$300,000, both taking effect from Year of Assessment (YA) 2008. There was also an earlier initiative under the Unilateral Tax Credit Scheme for service incomes which allows to cover all service incomes remitted from all non-treaty countries such as the US

Last weekend, Pinoy boxing prospect, Randy Suico retained his OPBF lightweight title by knocking out mandatory challenger Koji Samejima of Japan in the eighth round. The OPBF lightweight championship bout was the main attraction of the “Battle for Supremacy” promotion that was held at the sprawling Mall of Asia open car park. This boxing event was promoted by Rex “Wakee” Salud in cooperation with MP Promotions of Filipino boxing idol Manny Pacquiao.A brutal left hook from Suico decked Samejima in the sixth round. In the eight round, the Japanese challenger was also nailed by another left hook that was followed by a vicious right straight that sent him flat on his back. It was clear to international referee Bruce McTavish that the Japanese was out cold and there was no need for a count. In the other bouts, Philippine boxing prospect Jimrex Jaca retained his WBO super featherweight title over Japan’s Ryu Miyagi with a controversial technical draw. The fight was halted in the
by Joe CarrollShareholders of Exxon Mobil Corp., the world's largest oil company, rejected a resolution calling on the company to cut greenhouse gases and voted to retain director Michael Boskin. A proposal for Exxon Mobil to develop a plan to reduce emissions from its refineries and the fuels it makes received 31 percent in balloting at the company's annual meeting in Dallas. Initiatives to cap pay for top executives, including Chief Executive Officer Rex Tillerson, at $500,000 a year and increase investment in ethanol got less than 8 percent of votes. Boskin, chairman of the board committee that deals with environmental issues, survived a challenge by an investor group that included the California Public Employees' Retirement System, the largest U.S. pension fund. Other holders said Boskin deserved support after the company's shares jumped 36 percent last year, the stock's biggest annual gain since 1980. ``We're very happy w

“The strongest principle of growth lies in the human choice.” George Eliot. At this moment, the world cricketing authorities have the choice whether or not toallow Zimbabwe and Bangladesh to maintain their Test status. Both countries havestruggled to adapt to Test level, while pressure mounts on the International CricketCouncil to take action. Should these fledgling cricketing nations be allowed time toblossom, or will staying at the highest level stunt their growth? The reasons for the precarious position of each country’s cricket differ, withBangladesh’s problems more straightforward than Zimbabwe’s. “My mum wouldhave scored runs and taken wickets against the Bangladeshis,” blasted ex-England player Geoffrey Boycott. “She’d have wanted to bat and bowl at both ends!” (Boycott, 2005) Bangladesh simply don’t have enough top quality players to compete at Test level. All of his tests come back with normal results. The doctor says, "Roger, everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with God?" Roger replies, "God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so he's fixed it so when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom; poof.... the light goes on. When I'm done, poof....the light goes off." "Wow, that's incredible," the doctor says. A little later in the day, the doctor calls Roger's wife. "Ruth," he says, "Roger is doing fine! But I had to call you because I'm in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night and poof.... the light goes on in the bathroom, and when he's done, poof..
They actually keep the complete search text string. The usual answer is so that they can get to know their customers better and therefore make them offers based on their searches. Hmmm…. Has anybody ever been offered anything from AOL or Google for that matter, based on the results of a couple of years worth of search strings. Bet not.
So why are AOL retaining this information and why do they allow searches of dubious material in the first place. Sorta let the customer make all the strange searches they want then when AOL have enough incriminating evidence we’re in gotcha land. Sounds insidious to me. Bet Google and Yahoo do the same. Is something horrible just coming up over the horizon?
