Showing great discipline amid declining sales, the Detroit 3 have held back on the temptation to dump vehicles on fleet customers in order to boost numbers. As we reported last month, selling vehicles to corporate fleets and daily rental companies has been a long-practiced method to offload automobiles when sales slow down. Unfortunately, it also results in lowered residual values in the marketpl

the restraint of beasts - magnus mills
An unnamed employee of a fencing company is being made foreman and has the responsibility over two other fence builders, Tam and Richie. The three of them have to redo a high-tension fencing job in England (they’re from Scotland) and go on their way in the company caravan. While working on that job an accident happens that is only the beginning of some very strange situations these men get themselves into. Another one of Mills’s books in which he creates his own eerie universe. It seems like the characters are pawns of the world they live in, the situations they get into and the choices they can’t really make themselves. And the strange thing is, I didn’t feel sorry for the guys. All these things happening to them and you just think it’s all in the game, it is supposed to be this way. All in all a great read when you like the weird stuff. Copyright © 2007 eb from day to day. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. If you ar

      Child Aviation Restraint System (CARES)
CARES (“Child Aviation Restraint System”) is an innovative belt-and-buckle child airplane restraint that attaches directly to the airplane seat belt and makes an airplane seat safe for kids 22–44 lbs. These youngsters are old enough to be in their own seats, but are too small for the seat belt alone to protect them. Their bodies cannot withstand the jolts that are common in routine transportation, much less emergency situations, and they flail forward or slide beneath the seat belt if they are not held securely in place. Compared to the dreaded and insufficient lap strap, this is a appealing harness solution for toddlers but this parent can’t get beyond the sticker shock ($75.00 U.S.D.). Not to understate the simplicity of the design but that’s a lot of money for a couple extra straps - cut the price-point in half and you would find it hard to keep these in stock. Bhutanese refugees in Nepal demand probe, UN urges restraint
Kathmandu, May 28 (IANS) Tension spiralled in eastern Nepal Monday following the death of a teenager in police firing and an indefinite curfew failed to rein in angry protests, even as the UN called for restraint while Bhutanese refugees urged for an investigation. Asking refugees on the warpath to abide by the laws of the country, Abraham Abraham, chief of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees’ office in Nepal, said the agency was alarmed by the violence. “(We) deeply regret the tragic death of a minor despite efforts by the police to quell the unrest in the camp,” Abraham said. “This is a disturbing state of affairs and I earnestly call upon all refugees and concerned parties to resolve the matter peacefully.” Abraham’s call came after overnight violence in Beldangi refugee camps in Jhapa district with angry refugees setting fire to the camp office as well as a nearby police station. The violence began Sunday after a group of camp inmates, who adv

      Five Point Restraint
The personal aspect of stigma is the most damaging kind. As the old adage goes, an insult only hurts when the victim believes it at some level true. Similarly, stigma in the form of discrimination to the extent it limits someone's choices, certainly provokes a righteous and potentially empowering anger if directed in some constructive action. But if the victim at some level believes she is deserving, often she may suffer a damaging blow to self-esteem which may worsen anxiety or depression. One of the most controversial practices in hospital mental health units is physical restraint. While there may have been a time it was used punitively, now it is a highly regulated practice that can only be used to protect the patient and others from injury. It requires thorough documentation by more than one staff member. A trained team in most situations can quickly restrain a patient without injury to anyone involved. What restraint can't do is protect the individual from what she might feel
