On a recent business trip to New York, I was craving for some delicious indian food, and I have to say I was happy when a colleague recommended Tadka Indian restaurant in Manhattan, for a memorable lunch! Its hard to find nice and reliably good food for reasonable prices in a Manhattan/Midtown, and Tadka turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It is indeed a very tiny and cramped place in a busy l
One of the newest places on the restaurant scene in Brevard, NC is ED Boudreaux's Bayou Bar-B-Que. If you like your BBQ freshly smoked and served up with fresh-made sides like creole baked beans, sweet potato fries, collards, or andouille cheddar grits, then you're going to love this place. It opened on July 5 at 20 McLean Rd. just a bit west of Ingles grocery store.
We stopped in for lunch recent

I just had yet another unsatisfying experience at Crescent Moon at Northlake Mall, which is doubly disappointing since this was a chance for them to rehabilitate themselves after a previous poor experience.
As vegetarians my family and I enjoy restaurants that serve several entrees that
Kabasa? restaurant, La Ceiba, HondurasKabasa? is a Garífuna seafood restaurant. According to a Garífuna friend, 'Kabasa' means something like "What's up?" or "What's happening?", hence the question mark at the end. I'll leave the question mark off in this review. By the way, when pronouncing it, the accent is on the last 'a'.Kabasa now has three locations, San Pedro Sula, to which I've never bee
As part of my birthday celebrations, on Sunday 22 June 2008 my girlfriend (now fiancée) and I went to Launceston Place for Sunday lunch. After we went I read this review by AA Gill at The Times, we saw some similarities to what he said but he didn't rate it as highly as us. Maybe we are not so experienced at being foodies, or maybe he went on a bad day. We thought it was pretty good. We had
I haven't posted on here very regularly of late, and that is because I have been down to Cornwall for a long weekend for a friends wedding. Cornwall did not used to be known as a gourmet destination, but it seems to be heading more in that direction. First there was Rick Stein converting Padstow into Padstein, not to mention all the brilliant pubs selling local fish and meat. The now
The Palmetto House is an upscale restaurant set in the beautifully restored Seven Gables lodge, and features wonderful ambience and excellent food.
Friday evening, the missus and I took dinner at the recently restored and re-opened Seven Gables, now known as the Palmetto House. The exterior is beautiful- the lodge has a English Georgian look [...]
Normally, when I think of prunes my first thought is the familiar TV commercial showing the side-by-side comparison of someone experiencing “bloating and discomfort” and someone enjoying the verve and gaiety brought on by just one bowlful of California prunes. However, since last Thursday, my first thought is now “when can I have some more?”. [...]
I'm delighted to report that Madras Saravan Bhavan, which closed for several months, has re-opened as Saravana Bhavan, now officially part of a world-wide chain of high-quality vegetarian Indian restaurants, and it is better than ever. I was initially chagrined to learn they had discontinued the lunch buffet, but it has returned in greater splendor than ever: 30 items, each exquisitely prepared.
When Larry and I moved to Crofton, Maryland, in the 70’s, there were just two commercial dining establishments: Pigeon House (at the site now housing Jasper’s) and the Sly Horse Tavern on the Crofton Village Green. No McDonalds, no pizza carry-outs, and no franchise restaurants at all.
A lot has changed in Crofton since then, and the joy [...]

I have heard so much hype about this restaurant and how awesome it is. It's so awesome it's always packed and I have never ventured in there because of that fact. We decided to go real early before the Friday night dinner rush a few weeks ago and surprisingly enough, it was not even packed. Anyhow...I had been dying to find another good Mexican restaurant in Whatcom County to try out, and for the past few years I have been trying to get to this one. I will say it was definitely worth the wait, and we'll be back, but definitely before the dinner rush!We were seated and given our drinks (I ordered a HUGE frozen Margarita- let's just put it this way- it was loaded with Tequila or whatever it is that they put in Margaritas...so loaded I had a major buzz going home- of course I had a designated
Our camera is on the fritz so I have been to a few restaurants in the past month and I have not been able to get any photos. We're looking for a new digital camera for under $400, any good suggestions? (I'm looking at higher Megapixels as well, the one we have is a Canon Powershot A75 from 2004 that has only 3.2 mp, and it is on its last legs. Long story short, I dropped the camera back in August 2005 and we sent it back to Canon for fixing, and paid for it, but it hasn't been the same since then. Now it's either not taking pictures at all or it's just on its last legs.)Anyhow, one night we were coming home from the border (Blaine, WA) and I had heard from some people that there was this restaurant just off of Portal Way in Ferndale off exit 263 that was pretty good, called Madison's. On o
Located on Santa Monica right next to the nude club, I know classy, Tinto is a quaint Espana tapas and wine spot. Tinto is a family owned restaruant, small for LA standards and yummy. Now, I really adored the family who owned the restaruant, they were very nice, very kind, but it got to be a bit much. When the owner approached my table for the 4th time I started to feel like I was in an episode of curb. Im not sure if it was over accommodation or insecurity but every tapas plate came with a ohh you like?? is it ok?? I have a mother that drives me nuts about her cooking, why would I want the same out of the restaurnat owner?Final thoughts: def. go but try to make little eye contact with any of the staff.Next up, Comme Ca'Photo Cred: tintotapas.com
I decided to take my daughter out for dinner a couple of weekends ago after we went to the Big Lots to do some Christmas shopping. We sat in the truck for about 5 minutes between her, my husband (on the phone) and myself trying to figure out which restaurant we were going to go to. I did not want Chinese food, I was in the mood for something different, so I said, "what about Mexican food?" to my daughter, who just poopooed the idea. Then she saw a restaurant by Big Lots and said, "let's go there" and we decided on Luis' Mexican Restaurant. It's quite festive inside, but the neighborhood that it is in is one that has somewhat of a bad reputation, which is one reason why I am not around that area very often. However, the colors were fun, and we decided to have dinner and ordered take out for
Les Menus Plaisirs offers fine cuisine made with regional products. Mmm yeah, if you call ostrich regional to Quebec. I guess they make some poetic license available to their menu. But trust me; this won’t matter to you, the foodie.
Les Menus Plaisirs has been open for close to twenty five years and I remember going [...]
My husband took us out for dinner and knowing how badly I have been craving Chinese food, took us out to a restaurant we were recommended by someone I met a while back. We went to Oriento, which is down on the Guide Meridian in Bellingham, WA and is across the street from one of our favorite pizzerias in Whatcom County- Cascade Pizza.Again, I did not take pictures. We ordered a kid's plate for my daughter, which was a big plate, it consisted of a deep fried won ton with cream cheese (yikes!), fried rice, sweet n sour pork, and french fries. I think there was something else but all of that grease did not sit too well with her later...she wasn't feeling too well later on. My husband and I decided on a dinner combo that was about $11.95/per person and it came with pork fried rice, beef brocco
Returned to the Rivington with a friend for Sunday lunch today. The Rivington had been an old favourite for Sunday lunch in Shoreditch until it became annoyingly busy. The good news is that the Roast Goosnargh Chicken for two is back!
I had lunch today at the Alnwick Garden Tree House during my visit to the garden. As you can see in the photo the exterior of the building is striking and attractive. There is seating on the terraces and the interior is very imaginative. There was an open fire in the centre of the restaurant which was very welcoming on a cool June day.
However the menu was very limited and totally uninspiring. I had the prawn and smoked haddock tagliatelle which was bland and cost £7.50. The service was slow and haphazard. It is a pity that such a wonderful environment is not matched by a tasty, innovative menu.
You can only enter the Tree House Restaurant at lunch time if you have bought an admission ticket to the gardens, which I found rather peculiar. When I asked the member of staff checking the tickets the reason for this policy she told me that it was done to protect the local restaurants in the town.
Another thing which I didn’t like was the fact that the Duchess of Northumberland, th
Mischi’s is our favorite dining establishment in Miami. it is one of a few places we have visited in Miami that has toned down the superficial glitz and insane unsubstantiated pricing that characterizes so many restaurants in South Beach and turned up an outstanding innovative menu and wine list. Great place for an outdoor lunch and for people watching. La Goulue has decent food and good selection of wines and champagnes, but it is hardly a gastronomic destination. Yet, as you are washing down your steak tartar or burger with a glass of chablis or champagne and observing the clientele taking a rest from a hard afternoon of designer shopping, culinary excellence is not what comes to mind. Recommended. ***
Over several recent visits to London, Wolseley (160 Piccadilly) has become our favorite place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, drinks, dinner, and really late dinner. Wolseley transformed an old bank space on a busy Piccadilly corner in Mayfair into a luxurious Viennese-style eatery with excellent food, matching wine list, exquisite desserts and outstanding coffee. It is expensive, even by London standards, yet the only thing that one will remember from a visit is the food, the stimulating people scene and the festive feeling of being transported into a modern, luxurious gastronomic equivalent of the Orient Express. Highly Recommended. ****
If your looking for good BBQ in Pensacola then Beulah Land BBQ may be worth a visit. When you walk inside you will be warmly greeted in a manner that is so typical of a family run business, chain restaurants take note, this gives a customer a much better first impression than walking into a group of teenagers stood around discussing boyfriend issues. Take a look around and you’ll see the no frills decor I associate with a BBQ joint, you can tell your going to be eating off of paper plates, and drinking out of Styrofoam cups, but that’s alright we here to eat the kind of BBQ that you can’t get at any of those fancier chain restaurants, right?
Take a seat, and place your order, if this is your first visit I recommend one of the combination platters (starting at around $10), also make certain to let your friendly host know what kind of BBQ sauce you would prefer, sweet or spicy. Try not to salivate to much while you wait for the food to arrive.
OK here it is, start with
It never ceases to amaze me how many people come to visit Ireland and skip the west. I can't comprehend staying a week in gloomy Dublin when the natural beauty and friendly welcome of Mayo and Galway is free for the taking. Westport to me is one of my favourite towns in Ireland. Like Kinsale, it is quaint but modern, traditional but vibrant. On my very first visit to Westport over two years
It was sometime before 8 PM when I entered the swanky new French restaurant, Le Rongeur Precieux, with my buxom escort, Lola, and a satchel full of emergency supplies. As the maitre d came to welcome us, I put him in a hammerlock.
