Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has just made an announcement announcing his retirement plan to the whole world. He will hand over his hot seat to his blur-looking deputy (Najib la!) somewhere in 2010.
Do you really believe that Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will do that in 2010?

When Guttenberg Mayor David Delle Donna resigned his position today, he ended a long, drawn-out process that should never have happened. His resignation is a good sign of how the justice process works (occasionally) in this country.Yet throughout this whole trial, one person, Javier Inclan, a former Hudson County clerk and a current adviser to Gov. Jon S. Corzine, who had close ties to Delle Donna while he was active in politics in Guttenberg, has gotten off without any kind of punishment. And it’s a travesty that he has, because truth be told, he had just as important a role in this case as anyone else did. And meanwhile, Corzine is praising Inclan for having the courage to testify in such a high-profile case.“The governor commends Javier for his effort and he believes it takes courag

A campaigning organisation, dedicated to challenging racist and fascist bodies in Wales, has called on a Carmarthenshire candidate for the county council elections to back up claims he has made in his election campaign, or resign. Searchlight Cymru is asking Kevin Edwards, BNP candidate for the ward of Penygroes in Carmarthenshire, to justify two extraordinary claims he has made in his leaflet. In Mr Edwards’ election leaflet, he states that soldiers at Birmingham hospitals have to remove their uniforms so as not to offend Muslim staff and visitors. The leaflet also states that homosexuality is now being taught in our schools to children as young as four years of age. Darron Dupre, Secretary of Searchlight Cymru is amazed at the claims. “We were a bit bemused by

Spitzer Aides Say Governor Will Resign Today - New York TimesExcerpt:"Gov. Eliot Spitzer, reeling from revelations that he had been a client of a prostitution ring, will resign today, some of his staff members said they have been told.Mr. Spitzer is scheduled to speak today at 11:30 a.m. at his Manhattan office, and the resignation is to be effective Monday, aides to the governor said."
New York Democratic Governor Eliot Spitzer is scheduled to announce his resignation at a news conference in an hour or so, news sources report.
Update It's official. Spitzer's resignation becomes effective Monday, when he will be succeeded by Lt. Gov. David Patterson. Patterson will be the first black governor of New York and also, I believe, the first legally blind governor of New York.
A couple of days ago, it was revealed to the public that Democratic Governor Eliot Spitzer was the number 9 customer in an organized international prostitution ring. It operated in cities such as New York, Washington, D.C., and London, and it charged as much as $5,500 an hour for time with some of the women. [...]

State Republican leaders say they will impeach Eliot Spitzer if he doesn't resign. The New York governor is likely to step down, perhaps as early as today, a person close to him says. Spitzer has been identified as a client of a prostitution ring in a legal complaint, with his involvement being caught on a federal wiretap.

Never let it be said that the British press isn’t even-handed.
The Sunday Times has recently become embroiled in a row with the FIA over remarks by Martin Brundle calling the organisation’s impartiality into question, a row that now requires the intervention of m’learned friends.

One of Hillary Clinton’s national co-chairs was forced to resign today because of comments he made about Barack Obama’s teenage drug use. First Hillary had to fire a couple people on her campaign because they sent out emails that suggested that Obama was a Muslim who wanted to destroy America, and now this. Of course I do believe Obama WILL destroy America, but not for the bigoted, hateful reasons that Hillary’s campaign members, and Hillary by proxy, but because he is a socialist.
So here is a quick recap of this latest development in Hillary’s campaign. First we learn that Hillary has some major dirt on Obama, but her campaign will not use it. Obama, knowing that the Clinton’s are the most ruthless people in politics, comes forward with his prior drug use thinking this is what the Clinton’s have on him. A little preemptive strike by Obama. Now we fast forward to yesterday. Bill Shaheen comes out and says that Obama’s drug use WILL be an
I could care less if Larry Craig is gay or not. The fact is that 8 other men admitted to having sexual encounters with him in the past; and once again, he is denying it. This is the same man that said:

The issue with me is not that he is or isn’t gay. I’m more upset that this so-called Senator does not have the courage to admit it! He is a hypocrite and this sickens me. It’s republicans like this that make all conservatives look bad!
I don’t know. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe there is some global conspiracy against Larry. Maybe these eight men just want their 15 minutes of fame. Hah! I doubt it.
Larry, if you read this: please do yourself and all of us a favor and just quit. Be a man, step up to the plate and admit it; and then step down so someone with dignity can take your place!

Richard Roberts, former president of Oral Roberts University, told his students today that God told him to resign. Although apparently, before his resignation, God told him to deny the allegations. But, I guess, the closer Roberts was to getting forced out, God then just said, "Give it up!".Now, it begins to make me question yet again when people here God speaking to them, are they just voicing the echo in the back of their head to justify their questionable behavior? Or, as other people may call it, a cocktail of self-delusion and just plain old crazy. As I said before, religion is quite a profitable racket. The man was spending money when the university was $50 million in debt. The man bought a stable of horses and paid for his daughter to go to Bermuda. Perhaps, Bermuda was supposed to be a religious pilgrimage of sorts, but I don't buy it. According to Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports, Indiana assistant coach Rob Senderoff will resign from his post as an assistant coach.
This would explain Senderoff’s absence from Friday’s open practice as well as Kelvin Sampson’s unwillingness to discuss Senderoff at Sunday’s Big Ten media day.
Indiana assistant coach Rob Senderoff will resign Monday in the wake of the recent phone scandal involving the Hoosiers, according to two sources close to the program.
Senderoff has become the “fall guy” for Indiana head coach Kelvin Sampson, who came to Bloomington and was immediately hit with NCAA sanctions back from his days at Oklahoma.
Before coaching at IU, Senderoff worked at Towson, Yale, Fordham, Miami (OH) and Kent State. He was generally recognized as one of the top upcoming names in coaching and was the main recruiter for Coach Sampson. He is believed to be a primary reason the Hoosiers landed New York area recruit Devin Ebanks.

Committed Christian couple, Vince and Pauline Matherick, have been told they will not be re-registered as foster carers following their refusal to sign an Equality policy which forbids discrimination on the grounds of homosexuality. Mr Matherick, a 65 year old minster at South Chard Christian Church and his wife, Pauline, have been fostering since 2001 and have looked after 28 children. Earlier this year they were asked to agree to a new Equality policy which would require them to say that homosexual relationships were equal to heterosexual marriages if asked by a child about such relationships.
Mr Matherick explained that he and his wife had never discriminated against anybody, but that they would not teach children about the practice of homosexuality because the Bible condemns any kind of sexual practice outside of a marriage relationship.

Chelsea’s new boss Avram Grant, who may have the backing of the board, well he is on it, but is unlikely to have the backing of the players let alone the fans.
Does Abramovich realise what he has done? If Chelsea lose two matches in succession the fans will turn on Grant like a pack of hyenas as the fans regard Grant as the catalyst in Mourinho’s sudden exit from Chelsea. He’ll get little support from the sports media either as the media did really like Mourinho.
The media will also be frustrated in that they didn’t get a chance to have a hand in Mourinho’s going, something they have been relishing for the last couple of years and which they expected to happen in a couple of years time. Ouch, who’d be Grant?
Avram Grant may just as well do the honourable thing now and resign, and put it all down to a bad dream.

MyWay News article link GOP Officials: Craig to Resign SaturdayAug 31, 8:13 PM (ET)By JOHN MILLER and MATTHEW DALYBOISE, Idaho (AP) - Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig will resign from the Senate amid a furor over his arrest and guilty plea in a police sex sting in an airport men's room, Republican officials said Friday. Craig will announce at a news conference in Boise Saturday morning that he will resign effective Sept. 30, GOP officials in Idaho and Washington told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity. Word of the resignation came four days after the disclosure that Craig had pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge arising out of his June 11 arrest during a lewd-conduct investigation at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The three-term Republican senator had maintained that he did nothing wrong except for making the guilty plea without consulting a lawyer. But he found almost no support among Republicans in his home state or Washington.Idaho

This story is a perfect example of conflicted emotions for the left. They have been clamoring for the resignation of embattled DOJ chief Alberto Gonzalez but are now likely to get the equally despised head of DHS, Michael Chertoff, taking his place. I can hear the gnashing of lib teeth already. Alberto Gonzalez was obviously out of his depth at DOJ and it is now rumored that he is finally bowing to pressure to leave. It is about damned time I think. Nevertheless, we should always be careful what we wish for as we might just get it. In this case, we are losing Gonzalez but getting Michael Chertoff, the ultra politically correct chief of DHS. This is the same person that was limiting the ability of Department of Homeland Security terror investigators to do their job by requiring them to be tolerant and understanding of radical Muslims. Well, maybe he will do less damage at Justice than he has at DHS. At one time, I applauded the loyalty that George Bush has towards his people but at

Education chief: Begin search by getting a new boardGov. Ernie Fletcher overhauled the Kentucky Board of Education last year with a spate of new appointees, some of whom said they supported exposing students to alternatives to the theory of evolution, including intelligent design.Instead, students and the public have been exposed to a search for a new education commissioner that has been both unintelligent and ill-designed.Just last weekend, Leon Mooneyhan, a candidate for the job as interim commissioner, said he had "never been subjected to a more unprofessional set of circumstances," in his life."I don't see any Kentucky educator that would want to apply for the job," the retired Shelby County superintendent of schools said.If Fletcher cares at all about education in Kentucky, he should ask the entire board to resign so he can appoint members who have the capacity and desire to improve public education in the state rather than obsess over irrelevant hot-button issues. But since that
David Vitter made it a point to attack Bill Clinton for not resigning over the Monica Lewinsky affair.Vitter was elected to the House of Representatives to replace former Congressman Bob Livingston (R-Louisiana) in 1999 after Livingston, elected to replace Newt Gingrich as Speaker of the House, resigned after admitting an affair. Vitter applauded Livingston's resignation and said this;So why hasn't Vitter, who all but confirmed he had strayed from his marriage, decide to resign and why isn't anyone pushing him too?Well, first of all, it is important to remember that there hasn't been any official confirmation that Vitter had an affair or slept with any prostitutes. All that is known is that Vitter's phone number is on the phone records of a company accused of being a prostitution ring and Vitter admitted he ha committed a "serious sin" in his past that he and his wife had worked through. Putting two and two together can spell it out pretty clearly.Already, some Louisiana Republica

CNBC aired a report this morning which it qualified as "pure speculation" that Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel may resign. RBC this morning says there's a 50% chance Semel could call it quits within 6 months and that such an event would push shares up $1 to $2.
Freshman Congressman Steve Kagen (D-Wisconsin) has called for William Jefferson (D-Louisiana) to resign from Congress amid his indictment on corruption charges;Kagen, part of a Democratic freshman class that ran on pledges of creating a more ethical Congress, said Rep. William Jefferson, a Louisiana Democrat, is entitled to a presumption of innocence. However, Kagen, D-Appleton, said "all members of Congress must be held to a higher standard. Congressman Jefferson should consider resigning for the good of the Congress and for the good of the nation."Nobody says Republicans are naturally corrupt and Democrats are not. They both can be equally corrupt and the GOP only got that way by becoming too comfortable in the majority. Republicans lost partially on their problems with corruption, but that also came from the lack of Republican outcry against other GOP members who were corrupt. A Democrat trying to force out a corrupt Democrat is a good thing; It's what the Republicans never did.Je
Sen John McCain (R-Arizona) has been so busy campaigning for President that he's just plum forgotten that he is....still a Senator.McCain has missed the last 43 roll call votes in the Senate, nearly half of all the votes cast this year.By comparison, Hillary Clinton has only missed 2% of votes, while Barack Obama has missed only 6%. Sam Brownback, Chris Dodd and Joe Biden, while missing more, have missed far less than McCain. Now an Arizona state legislator, and a Republican to boot, is calling for McCain to resign from the Senate if he wishes to continue his campaign for President. State Rep. Russell Pearce (R-Mesa) has asked McCain to resign, which would force Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano to appoint a replacement. Democrats shouldn't swoon though, as Napolitano would be forced to replace McCain with a Republican.McCain's campaign said this as a defense;"Although he has missed a few votes, he works really hard to ensure that he has not missed any votes in which his vote woul
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Miami athletic director Paul Dee plans to resign in June 2008 and join the faculty.

Blair set to announce resignation
Tony Blair is expected to standing down as Labour leader after a decade in Downing Street, paving the way for Gordon Brown to succeed him as Prime Minister.
Mr Blair will first tell Cabinet colleagues of his intentions at their regular Thursday morning meeting at No 10, then travel to his Sedgefield, Co Durham, constituency to make a public pronouncement.
Weeks of speculation over the timing were ended by the PM’s official spokesman, who told reporters: “There will be a Cabinet at 9 o’clock. I don’t think that will be quite as long as usual.
“The Prime Minister will then go elsewhere to make an announcement and that will be all that happens. There will be nothing said in Downing Street.”
Mr Blair remains as Labour leader until his successor is formally elected at a special party conference, and as Prime Minister until he hands in his seals of office to the Queen.

Top Party Official Calls for Olmert to Resign - New York TimesExcerpt:"A senior official in Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s own party openly called for him to resign today, adding to mounting pressure in the wake of a damning report about Mr. Olmert’s performance in last summer’s war against Hezbollah.Avigdor Itzhaki, chairman of the Kadima Party’s representatives in Parliament and chairman of the governing coalition, told Army Radio that he was “trying to persuade Kadima members to ask the prime minister to resign.” He added that if Mr. Olmert did not resign, he would. In response, aides of Mr. Olmert called Mr. Itzhaki a disloyal “subversive” who has “no place in this government,” according to Army Radio."http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/02/world/middleeast/02cnd-israel.html?_r=1&hp&oref=sloginAlex
Thankfully she did. Despite the fact that Marilee Jones was a great employee at mit, it doesn't mean that she should get away with what most people would be fired on the spot for. Yeah, sure some people would say that she did it back in 1979 but it doesn't matter. If they had found out that Marilee Jones had lied in 1980 she would have had to resign too. Wouldn't you be fired or at lease be under "grounds for termination" if you lied on your resume or application?
John McCain joins the ever growing chorus of voices calling for Alberto Gonzales to leave his job.How loud does the chorus have to get before the Bush Administration hears it, winches and decides it's too loud to ignore?
And it's not Kennedy, Schumer or LeahyIt's Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma)...You heard right, Coburn of Oklahoma;"The best way to put this behind us is your resignation," Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma)Democrats really didn't have to put more pressure on the Attorney General. Republicans were doing it for them;"Why is your story changing?" Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa)"Most of this is a stretch" Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina)"I guess I'm more concerned about your recollection really." Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama)I'd say this man is toast, but I thought he'd be gone already. It looks to me like the Senate is going to beat this guy up for awhile and then let him go.At least the Republicans are learning the art of oversight. They seemed to have forgotten that after 2001.
Nancy Pelosi has persistently violated her duty to exercise her speaker powers in accordance with the Constitution and the current "106th Congress House Rules Manual" (House Document 106-320).In short, she has fostered what is known as "tyranny by the majority" and violated House Rules that give her the duty to maintain order, civility, and decorum, and to foster "comity" (a word rarely used these days, meaning "mutual respect"). She also denied a request by President Bush (who has primary constitutional authority over the conduct of foreign policy) that as the third-highest official of the United State she not make an official visit to Syria, which our government has officially declared to be a "terrorist state." On a high profile televised visit to Syria, she conferred with President Bashar al-Hassad. The prior history of Democratic Speaker Jim Wright is now being repeated by Nancy Pelosi which forced Wright to resign. Anti-Sandinistas and Contra hardliners became incensed when they
So much for a bitter contract dispute with Salo this summer. Dave Nonis has signed Salo to a 4-year deal today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed at this time.I wonder kind of dollars Salo will make. He is currently making $1.5 million per season. I'll bet Nonis doubled that, perhaps at the most. Any other guesses out there? If that's the case, there will be some changes in the summer to absorb that money. (Like dumping Naslund perhaps?) His earnings probably escalate over the 4 years.I am mostly concerned with Sami's ability to stay healthy. The last time he played anywhere near a full season was in the 2002/03 season (79 games). But his presence at the point seems to be on the increase every year. There is no mistaking his booming slapshot. He plays over 21:00 per game, and has proven to be a clutch player with 6 game-winning goals this season. The Nucks originally acquired Salo on September 21, 2002 in exchange for Peter Schaefer.Tags: CanucksSaloSigned
Two top employees of the Wikimedia Foundation have resigned, citing disagreements with the board. Both publicly tendered their resignations to the community yesterday on a foundation mailing list, but say their resignations are unrelated and the timing coincidental.
Danny Wool, who has worked out of the foundation’s St. Petersburg, Florida, office since October 2005 under the title of grants coordinator, and who is widely regarded as the number two guy at Wikimedia, discussed his resignation first in a message to the foundation list.
That note was later followed by one from Brad Patrick, general counsel and interim Executive Director of the foundation, who resigned formally to the foundation earlier this month but decided to announce it publicly to the community after seeing Wool’s note go up. Patrick will continue with the foundation until March 31 and has retained executive headhunting firm Phillips Oppenheim to help find a permanent director for the foundation.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced a press conference for 3 PM on Friday afternoon to announce the resignation of their head coach, Bill Cowher. Cowher has been the Steelers head coach for the past 15 seasons.
Since 1969, the Steelers have had the most stable coaching position in the NFL having had only two coaches, Chuck Knoll (1969-1991) and Bill Cowher (1992-2007). Cowher’s career record was 161-99-1 in his fifteen seasons. He won last years Super Bowl in Detroit with the Steelers.
Most media outlets are speculating the reason for Cowher leaving the game is to spend more time with his family. He had a built a house in Raleigh, NC and his wife and daughter have been living there for the season. Cowher is supposed to be working this weekend for one of the networks during the playoffs. This was something he had set up before announcing his decision. Cowher will not be able to coach in the NFL next season as he retires with one year left on his contract. I don’t think he

ALBANY — State Comptroller Alan Hevesi will agree this week to resign to avoid an indictment stemming from an ethics scandal in which he used public employees to chauffeur his wife, according to sources familiar with his decision.
I’m sure he’ll be able to protect his huge state pension after serving many years in public office since 1968. The fools who reelected him should have their voting rights suspended for the next 4 years.
The comptroller, a 66-year-old Queens Democrat, will also plead guilty to a criminal charge, which will not be higher than a Class E felony and will not require him to spend any time in jail, according to the sources.
What is the actual punishment here? He walks away a free man, keeps his mighty pension and lives happily ever after. The Albany County DA ought to be strung up for accepting this plea deal. He should have tak
Just in this morning in the wake of a Democratic victory in yesterdays elections, Republican officials say Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld will step down. Man, the chips in the House of Bush are falling fast this week.
This can only be a good thing for the troops, the Iraqi’s, and America.
More, I’m sure as this develops.
