Is the affidavit on Residency Requirement likely to be on the way out after it was insidiously inserted during the passage of RA 9189 or the Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003? Earlier reports seem to indicate this development but that remains to be seen on how the Philippine Congress will amend the provision.

A historical Monument is on the verge of death This topic is related to the recent condition of the ancient monuments in Lucknow. One of the most remarkable piece of architecture built by the Britisher’s prior to the revolt of 1857 is The Residency, it was home to British officers deployed in Awadh (old name of Lucknow) at that time. Today, monument lies in ignorance. Despite the fact that about 200-300 visitors from across the city and globe come to visit this ancient monument. Very little has been done to maintain its beauty. The monument was bought down to ruins during the revolt of 1857 by the Indians, still the graves of the soldiers and their families lies in the graveyard nearby.

I started obsessing about how many years it takes to become an MD, so I was comforted by the statistics I found for the mean salary of residencies nationwide. It's not as bad as I thought. Although residencies are the equivalent of hell-week spread out over 3 plus years, at least we are compensated for our work. I found out there are also many perks besides just the salary. I know this is premature, but it is something to look forward to following four or more years of school. The 2007 Mean stipends in United States for a MD Resident (also called house-staff) from any specialty were as follows: 1st Year (PGY1 / Intern ): $44,0002nd Year (PGY2): $46,0003rd Year (PGY3): $48,0004th Year (PGY4): $52,000/-5th Year (PGY5): $54,000/-6th Year (PGY6): $54,000/- Note: These are means based on a nat

Their Self Titled Debut Out October 9th on Black & Greene Records (Jeremy Black of Apollo Sunshine)This October, Tommy Allen & Sarah Cronin debut their love for one another in the form of their outstanding S/T record, Drug Rug, on Black & Greene Records and we are thrilled to be on board. The dynamic love duo, named Drug Rug, hail from Boston and have written & recorded the most heartbreaking debut since June & Johnny got together (Yes, We do love them that much). “The Sound Alone is all I need to get by” and “You don’t have worry, You don’t have panic no more (from Tiny People)” are just two simple lines that will have you back to toe-tapping and foot stomping & will re-cement your faith in love, poetry and classic country pop songs... Its almost like the clash of two separate generations have joined, and Joanna Newsom & Keith Richards had recently met in some distant far off land. Enough Said? Well if you need more, Drug Rug is coming your way...The Record wa
About a week ago, I finally received a letter from the USCIS (United States Citizenship & Immigration Service) to let me know my two year conditional permanent residence has been extended for a year pending processing of my application to become a permanent resident. The letter says I can still travel anytime outside from USA during the one year extension. I “might” be going home to PI (Philippine Islands) during this period. I am not worried about this extension since I am not in a hurry to become a US Citizen. Hubby and I have many plans in the Philippines before obtaining my US Citizenship. Nobody can harm my residency unless I am committed with criminal issues.Just recently, I had done my biometrics in USCIS – Application Support Center. I arrived there on time at 8:00am then finished at 8:20am.
Iserson's Getting into a Residency: A Guide for Medical Students is an excellent book as it introduces many different specialties and rates them. It contains a description of each specialty with work hours and salary. The majority of the book focuses on how best to increase your chances of getting the residency you want. If you don't have this blue book, you're missing on an important piece of the pie of getting into a residency in the US. This book explains in step by step about the entire process of the Residency application and the Match process. This book has it all and it starts from the very beginning. The first part helps students pick out their specialty. An extensive text explaining each and every specialty with its pros, cons and fellowships are written in minute details. The book is the most widely used t

One known reason (if it's not the main reason) of why Filipino workers take Singapore Permanent Residency (PR) is security. If an employment pass (EP) holder leaves the company, the EP is canceled and he must leave Singapore unless he finds employment with another company. This was addressed when the Singapore government introduced the Personal Employment Pass (PEP) scheme. The new PEP is not tied to the employer and will be granted on the holder's individual merits. The PEP allows the holder to remain in Singapore for up to six months in between jobs to evaluate new employment opportunities. But for a Filipino who has become as "kiasu" (Singlish, afraid to loose) as a Singaporean, this is not secured enough. Changing jobs in Singapore won't be that easy and there's always the risk of being rejected when you apply for an EP.Permanent Resident status gives more freedom. Your employer will contribute to your Central Provident Fund, Singapore's social security plan (an enforced saving
Computer Photo by yoshimov. "Can you take Alleke?" April asked. "Sure," I said. I glanced over my shoulder, then finished the sentence I was typing.April put Alleke into my arms and looked over my shoulder at the computer screen. "What are you working on?" she asked. "I'm filling in some information that was missing on our apartment contract," I said with as much enthusiasm as someone filling out a tax form. April smirked. "Well, you two have fun," she said. I turned my attention back to the computer screen and began typing again with Alleke playing on my lap, pulling at the sleeve of my sweater and trying to put it in her mouth. I scanned more of the document and found a spot where I needed to put April's name, but because we're in Spain, I needed to put "Doña" (the equivalent of Mrs.) in front of her name. I wasn't on my own computer, though, so I couldn't figure out how to write the "n" with the little squiggly line on top. I thought for a moment, looking at t
An article in a recent Mayo Clinic e-newsletter cited Child Psychiatrists as being in extremely short supply in the US, and stated that there is little evidence that the shortage will be remedied in the long term either. The May Clinic article mentioned, as one example of the problem, that Wyoming has only 2 child psychiatrists. But the shortage is, in fact, a problem in all fifty states and

(Archived in: Social Design Sovereign Rights)by Greg LipkeIf you love living where you are now, then there is probably no need for you to move. However, after reading this chapter, you may start to develop itchy feet. The grass sometimes IS greener on the other side. What are the advantages of moving? Basically that depends on where you live now and on how you want to live. Moving to another country can reduce or eliminate income, corporate and capital gains taxes. Now I've got your attention. Here is the BUT If you live in the USA you are taxed by your government on your world-wide income regardless of where you live in the world. That's rude. It may still be tax advantageous to move however. You won't get taxed twice. If you move to a tax haven where there are no or minimal taxes you will still have to pay the IRS but you won't have any paperwork to do in your new home. If you move to a non-tax haven with a double taxation treaty with the USA there are many options open to you usu
