This post was written to provide a step-by-step guide on how to create Recent Posts and Recent Comments widgets for Blogger beta.
I know, these widgets was posted so many times on so many blogs, but I still want to re-write them with more details to make it easier for beginers, also for supporting my blogger [...]
This wonderful widget displays links to recent posts made on your google powered blogger blog. It works great in your blog's sidebar. If you don't like only being able to display 5 of your recent posts you can now show as many as you want now. The default is set to 10 posts, but all you need to do is change the number 10 within the code to any desired amount.
As you can see, I have this

Regular readers may have been wondering why there have been no posts here recently. This is because I have been effectively homeless for a number of days due to a house fire. But fear not, dear reader, there will be more help and advice available soon when I am more settled.
If you have used wordpress previously and switched later to blogspot, one thing you are going to miss i.e cool wordpress widgets. Although, blogspot provides its equivalent ‘page elements’, but it doesn’t provide many widgets like ‘Popular Posts’,’ Recent Posts’, ‘Recent Comments’..etc. Out of these, we can achieve the ‘Recent Posts’ and ‘Recent Comments’ using the feeds provided by blogspot. Seps to follow: Go to Settings and then click on Site Feed.Switch to advanced modeSet ‘Blog Posts Feed’ and ‘Blog Comment Feed’ to Full or Short. Now click on Template Tab to add new page elements.Click on ‘Add a page element’ and choose feed to add to blog. For Recent Posts, give ‘http://www.yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default’ as Feed URL. It will retrieve the feeds and will display. Now change the title to either ‘Recent Posts’ or ‘Previous Posts’ or to anything you want.Similarly do it for Recent Comments and
I hope that readers enjoyed Orchestras - A Secret Society of Weirdoes (and I'm one of them!), which I put out on the blog yesterday as part 4 of This Crazy Business. This series has been a lot of fun to write, and I'm in the middle of putting together the next installment, which covers a topic near and dear to my heart:Freelancing!Or, more specifically, the utterly insane (all-night, across three states, over ice and snow for $50) commuting situations that many classical musicians seem to shrug off as par for the course. Many of the topics discussed in this upcoming installment have their roots in Road Warrior Without an Expense Account, my ten-part series about life as a freelance musician.I'd also like to thank Bill Harrison for putting out Making a Living, a great post about how we musicians fit (or don't fit) into greater society. Bill blogs at Jazz Underneath and is the founder of PlayJazzNow.com.As always, clicking the Articles link in the menubar will take you to an index
I have had several wonderful people contact me recently,
to ask me to write a post about their blog(s) in exchange
for links, etc. While I am flattered, I thought I would post

For those who need a recent posts widget like the one on the right for their blog (Blogger only), you can go to Hoctro's Place to add one to your own blog. However, this recent posts widget has its limitations. Firstly it's limited to a maximum of 25 posts because it processes its data from the Atom feed for the blog. This Atom feed is fixed at 25 posts for Blogger and there doesn't seem to be a way to change the maximum number of posts for the Atom feed in Blogger.Currently, the widget determines the most recent posts by last updated date and not post date. I haven't checked whether that is changeable in the widget code or it's due to limitations of the Atom Feed.Something else to note when you add the widget code to your Blogger template. You need to add the code between tags (e.g in the sidebar) and not between tags as in the post. I think Hoctro did a typo there.Ok, the rest of this post is about why I included this widget in this blog. You can start reading other posts now :)
