Propellerhead Software's software drum synthesizer Rebirth RB-338 has been discontinued since 2005 and is now released as freeware at the Rebirth Museum. It emulates the Roland TB-303 Bass Line Synthesizer (think Acid House) and the TR-808 and TR-909 Rhythm Composers (think Techno & Drum N' Bass), more commonly known as drum machines. If you're into electronic music, then you must have heard of these legendary machines.This program mimics the interface of the actual machines which really gives you the feel of actually manipulating the various knobs on the real machines. This review of Green Lantern: Rebirth on UGO tells about Geoff Johns' inherent problem with violence:Johns fumbles when dealing with issues of violence. Hal, unable to control the vengeful Spectre spirit, attacks Black Hand and dissolves one of his hands while Green Arrow looks on, piously appalled. Yet GA had just shot an arrow through that same hand himself!Maybe Johns idea of "old school" has less to do with rejecting modern violence, than it does rejecting deeper characterization. When Hal vows, "No more soul-searching road trips", it seems Johns isn't just rejecting semi-recent events, but GL stories dating back decades to the classic "relevant" stories by O'Neil and Adams!There's just too much emphasis on sadism, explosions, and sniping characters going all macho on each other for Rebirth to succeed as an involving epic.
