Quick Poll: Will Early Rebates Stimulate the Economy?
Friday Bush announced that the rebate checks will be going out four days early in an effort to stimulate the economy. What do you think?I'm guessing it won't make a bit of difference in anything except for possibly sentiment. There are really only two options - spend or save - with save also implying debt repayment. I'm guessing that anyone that would spend has already spent some to all of what they are expecting. Then there are the savers and debt re-payers. That may have an effect on future economies, but we won't see any results from them now.I'm in between the two types - I'll use most of the return for debt reduction. But I decided to go ahead and spend on bike repair and guitar stuff that I've been wanting for a long time. I don't know if that counts because I probably would

Five million will receive the direct deposit on Friday! Click here for the full story. I'm a little bummed. Mine won't arrive until July. We owed money and therefore didn't put our direct deposit information down, since we filed in February before they implemented the stimulus plan. Debitel is offering rebates for iPhone
Debitel, a German mobile service provider, is going to offer a huge rebate of 600 Euros, for customers who bought the iPhone from T-Mobile. It was said that Debitel will pay the price difference between unlocked iPhones and those locked to T-Mobile. Even though T-Mobile has exclusive rights to sell the iPhone, it was ordered by court last week, to make available unlocked iPhones, to customers who desire it for €999. The original price is 399 Euros with a 2 year contract. Debitel, who resells airtime minutes from T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2, and E-plus, said in conference this Tuesday that they will offer contracts starting at 40 Euros per month, with 200 minutes of talk time, or 200 SMS messages, starting this Wednesday. It is 9 Euros cheaper than what T-Mobile is offering. “We are happy to offer iPhone buyers the freedom of choice that customers are entitled to expect from a service provider,” said Debitels marketing chief. PayPal Offers Huge 20% Christmas Shopping Rebates
I never expected to see such a great offer from PayPal, but it seems foolish not to take advantage of it. Through Monday, December 10th they’re offering a full 20% rebate (deposited to your PayPal account) for shopping with some major online retailers. We’re not talking about little no-name sites, but the big boys like Barnes & Noble, HP, eBags, and RitzCamera.com. Here’s the most important small print- 1. Offer Description: Eligible customers defined in Section 3 below will receive 20% cash back on their total purchase amounts (including shipping and taxes) made with participating merchants during the offer period. The maximum total amount of cash back per PayPal account is $50 USD. 2. There is also 4% FatWallet CashBack. No free shipping but no tax in CA (finally) kinda offset the shipping costs. It has alot of favorable reviews on Amazon and TigerDirect. The biggest thing is it does not have any rebates. I see alot of PSU's that have like $30 to $50 rebates and who knows if you will ever get that rebate check. Thought people might be interested with all the recent Dell and fry's computer deals. Below is a link of more detailed review that I found.X-Finity 600 PSU ReviewBlack Friday 2007!

Get Paid to Process Rebates from Home
“Get Paid to Process Rebates from Home - $500 - $1,000 A WEEK!”… Sounds pretty darn good, huh? I saw one of these types of advertisements as a Google Ad and decided it was to time to do some investigation. If you know me, you know that I’m very skeptical about any program that sounds to good to be true, and this advertisement fit the bill perfect. To start my investigation, I needed to find

why I dislike rebates even after $400
Raise your hand if you have bought something with the rebate price in mind, but never actually sent in the rebate, or never actually got the money back from the rebate.  I have made many purchases myself that involved a rebate.  Not once (until today) have I actually gotten a check back.  Either i forget to fill it out in time, or I throw away a vital thing I am supposed to submit, or I do send them in, never to hear from the company again.  I know I have sent them in, but who and for what... that I am hazy on.  You see it takes SO long for a rebate to be returned to you that most likely you forget.  [More]

Rebates – Reward or Rip Off?
Rebates have become increasingly popular in the last few years on a lot of items and certainly on electronic items and computers. Rebates of $20, $50 or $100 are not uncommon.I’ve even seen items advertised as “free after rebate”. Do these rebates come under the heading of “too good to be true”? Some of them do and there are “catches” to watch out for but if you are careful, rebates can help you get some really good deals. The way a rebate works is that you pay the listed price for an item then mail in a form and the bar code to the manufacturer and they send you a refund thus reducing the price of what you paid for the item except with a time delay of several weeks.Rule #1. Rebates from reputable companies are usually just fine. You can be pretty sure you will get the promised rebate from Best Buy, Amazon or Dell but you should probably not count on getting one from a company you’ve never heard of. If you really want the product and are OK with paying the price listed th

      What's the deal with rebates?
Stop the madness! We know that everyone hates them, but have you also considered that they waste resources by unnecessarily using: 1. Paper for the envelope, stamps, to produce the extra copies, and for the check itself. 2. Gasoline to transport both the rebate and the check. 3. The time I spend filling out the infernal things. Not only that, the company has to purchase extra P.O. boxes, hire staff just to sort out and open the envelopes and handle the payment. It also probably loses a few customers by angering them both during the process and after some inevitably don't receive their rebate. Don't their workers have anything better to do than listen to rebate complaints (more wasted time and money)? Are they counting on people forgetting to send the rebates? Am I missing something? Does this make sense to you?

New Bionic Woman free after rebates
Formerly worth $12,000,000 in the 1970s; in 2007, the bionic couple's parts would be lucky to fetch $12.00 on eBay OSI (Office of Scientific Intelligence- a division of the CIA) accountants announced today that the upcoming bionic woman could conceivably be built for free. With the decreasing price of computer equipment and electronics in general, the parts for a bionic person, at one time a prohibitive six million dollars, now costs less that three hundred dollars. During sale weekends at Fry's electronics, the OSI claims it can lower that price to zero, or free (excluding sales tax). The new motto for the bionic woman project will be, "better...stronger...faster...and cheaper." "I remember we had to buy this big Betamax VCR to observe Jamie and Austin's training. That thing cost thousands. Now, we just hook up our Logitech webcam to our Dell and that's it. No tapes, no nothing," said retired OSI head of bionic projects, Oscar Goldman. The government study cost seven millio
