One of the most important improvement introduced by Windows Vista is surely the ReadyBoost technology (it permits to increase the PC performance using flash memories or USB pen drives: Vista uses these memories for its caching purpose instead on using hard drives that means more speed). Now, thanks to eBoostr (a product of the Moscow Development Office), it's possible to use a sort of ReadyBoost also on Windows XP. This tool is still in beta, but it's possible to register to participate as a...

According to Microsoft, Windows ReadyBoost is a new featured built in Windows Vista to help ease the stress that the resource-hungry operating system is putting on the hardware available and especially on the RAM. A veritable resource hog, Vista will deliver only the most basic of user experience and performance running under just 512 MB of RAM. In fact the 32-bit versions of the operating system can go as high as the address space limitations permit, which usually means something in the vicinity of 3.5 GB of system memory. Things are a tad different when it comes to 64-bit Vista. In such scenarios Microsoft's latest operating system can address up to 128 GB of RAM.
"Windows ReadyBoost improves system memory and boosts performance," Microsoft revealed. "Windows Vista introduces Windows ReadyBoost, a new concept in adding memory to a system. You can use non-volatile flash memory, such as that on a universal serial bus (USB) flash drive, to improve performance without having
Tanggapan untuk artikel "feature readyboost ala XP":Comment to "Running Readyboost Feature on Windows XP" article: "Apakah benar mekanisme dari Readyboost di Vista sesederhana itu? Kalau cuma itu, berarti cuma memidahkan swap file doang? Berarti kita ditipu Microsoft donk! Does the mechanism of Readyboost feature just like that? That's very simple concept.. So I can said, "the readyboost feature is just moving the swap file from harddisk to memory flash?" This is an ecplain about Windows Vista Readyboost feature from Wikipedia: ReadyBoost is a disk caching technology first included with Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system. It aims to make computers running Windows Vista more responsive by using flash memory on a USB 2.0 drive, SD card, Comp

Sederhana bukan? Terus bagaimana caranya? Now, we will try to using readyboost feature on Windows XP? What? Windows XP? Are you serious? are there any feature like readyboost feature on Windows XP? Here, I will tell you how to running readyboost feature under XP Operating System.. In the fact, the concept of this trick is very simple, that I just move or reallocate the paging file from Harddisk drive to USB Flash disk. What a very simple way, huh? One thing you must remember, the readyboost feature on XP is not as "fast" as readyboost feature on Vista.&nbs

ReadyBoost is a new disk caching technology included in Windows Vista that uses flash memory to boost your system performance. It can use any form of flash memory such as a USB 2.0 drive, SD card or CompactFlash.
ReadyBoost functions as a complement for SuperFetch, giving SuperFetch another place to cache data. SuperFetch is a technology included in Windows Vista which prioritizes the programs you are currently using over background tasks and adapts to the way you work. This technology tracks your computer usage behavior and intelligently preloads applications into memory. This helps improving the general performance of your system and the loading times of your core applications. While SuperFetch loads by default all the necessary files into the main memory, ReadyBoost complements it by loading data into alternate storage devices such as USB 2.0 flash memory sticks.
While the USB flash drives are not as fast as the main memory, they can be faster than a hard disk drive and enabling Rea
Did Windows Vista's new "Ready Boost" technology make a difference to it's startup speed? Oh yeah... Check this out! When I grab my copy of Vista Ultimate along with my new PC next year, I'll be buying myself 4 different 2GB Mimoco USB drives so I can fully enjoy these speedy benefits. Still don't know what I'm talking about? Check it out for yourself... And whilst I'm here, I'd like to apologize for not posting these past two days, and I'd love to wish you a very happy new year! May the year 2007 be prosperous for all of us. I know that this last year has been one of the best of my life. Let's see if '07 can match up shall we?Best of luck,David Wilkinson (aka. Delta Taph)
A Windows Vista Readboost Optimized USB drive? Count us in. There's un-deniable evidence that the technology works, and is worth it's chips, so anything that can enhance it further is definitely on my must have list. That said, I'm hoping that a rig with an Intel Core 2 CPU, a Nvidia 8800 GPU and 2GB of high-frequency DDR2 RAM will hold up Vista nicely anyhow. If not, for $99, I can pick myself up an optimized drive myself. But if I was going to a LAN party, there's another USB drive tailor made for me, and oh! Look! A 16GB drive too. Sweet stuff! Sourced from Gadgetell.
