So far it’s been a pretty good Saturday. An early rugby game at Delta Park, a stop by the vet to get some new flea stuff for Weston, a walk around Cathedral Park, and now some quiet blogging, surfing time.

Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) has lately been on the spotlight (as he always has been I guess!), as he has now started recording again. But this time, he is different compared to the Cat Stevens of the 70s, in that he regards himself as having found the inner peace he was desperately searching for.
I have always admired him ever since I came to know about him (Not necessarily that I agree

by Dave MindemanRep. Lynn Wardlow (District 38B) represents a large portion of Eagan, Minnesota.. a city directly affected by the NWA-Delta merger. Here is an excerpt of his recent e-mail to his constituents. The airlines intent to merge is an issue that our Senators andMembers of Congress in Washington, D.C., intend to scrutinize closely during the federal approval process. My focus, and the focus of the state legislature, is on why this newly-merged airline would want to move its headquarters out of Eagan and out of Minnesota all together in favor of Delta's home of Georgia. Comparing the two states business climates makes one thing veryclear: Minnesota's high and excessive taxing structure puts our state at a supreme competitive disadvantage. Our corporate income tax rate is 9.8 per

I was on the WinRAR website today, reading a bit of their advertising. For those who do not know, WinRAR is a popular archiving software used to pack and maintain multiple files and directories as one file. It can provide some basic security, but all of this is beside the point. What interested me the most from their advertising is this statement:WinRAR supports files and archives up to 8,589 billion gigabytes in size. The number of archived files is, for all practical purposes, unlimited.Though I am not on the bleeding edge in terms of technical knowledge, I do have some degree of competency. So how the hell do you test a statement like that for accuracy?WinRAR's benefits page:

CURRENCY TRADING SUMMARYU.S. Dollar Trading (USD) was again volatile on Thursday as it reached a new record low against the Euro before pairing back following Luxembourg Finance Minister Juncker’s comments suggesting financial markets have misunderstood the G7’s position on currency volatility, hinting that the major concern is perhaps not in U.S weakness, rather in Euro strength. He went to say the Euro’s recent advance against the dollar is not “desirable.” This triggered a knee-jerk reaction to buy back the dollar. U.S initial jobless claims rose by 17k to 372k, however this was slightly less than forecast. The four-week average of new jobless claims remained largely unchanged at 376k. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s general economic index fell to -24.9 for the mo

This evening while at home chilling out, I decided to read "Trembley Tries Wooing Two Big Birds Back To The Nest" by the Baltimore Sun's Roch Kubatko.Well, the content of the article made me glad to see that the team, spearheaded by Dave Trembley, are reaching out to the stars of yesteryear; however, I am very dumbfounded as to why the Orioles had not made the overture to players earlier.Obviously, we see Jim Palmer, Boog Powell, Rick Dempsey show-up at the Yard participating in team activities, but not Brooks, Frank, Eddie Murray or other former Orioles.Granted, all these guys have their own lives, but unlike let's say the Yankees & Red Sox, why do so few stars bother to show up?This passage by Brooks Robinson is a bit sad & may tell us more than we want to know:"The chances of Ro

Yesterday was a bit of a crazy day. Not that it was overwhelming busy but because of the emotion of it on top of the busyness. Two of our children had Bible Quiz and Awana Games yesterday. Awana is such a great program; it teaches believers to reach higher and to reach out with the love of Christ. We had to get all of us out the door by 7 am and drive an hour to the location where they were held. We arrived home around 3 pm.I am again reaching out for the hand of the Great Physicians to bring healing to our home. We once again have illness within our household. I think we picked something up the last time we went to the doctor's office. I now have several children with fevers and coughs. I will have to assess the situation this morning before I decide if we are well enough to go
50. behemoth - 'the apostasy' [review published on issue #162 of Terrorizer magazine]Behemoth have been worryingly average for a while now, and the fact that this less inspired (by their standards) period has coincided with a rise in their commercial status, especially in the United States, is a very valid cause of concern for fans of these Polish giants. ‘Demigod’ was a step further into their definitive affirmation as a death metal band, as opposed to their blackened earlier output, but it was a bland, uninspired step which left several question marks on what would be the ideal direction to follow on the next release. Their commercial future might be relatively secure, with the kind of popularity they seem to hold now, but purely musically speaking, a lot hangs on ‘The Apostasy’.
When you have the right information, climbing to the top of Google in a very short period of time is entirely within your reach. I am living proof. Two weeks ago, I launched my new website, and now I have multiple listings on page one of the Google search results. An Empirical Truth Scientists make their way in the world relying upon empirical truths. For those who are unaware, an empirical truth can be defined as, "verifiable or provable by means of repeatable observation or experiment." In essence, if you can observe it once, then it is interesting. But, when you can repeat the experiment and achieve the same observations multiple times, then you have evidence of an empirical truth. >From my own observations, what I am about to tell you is an empirical truth, because I have observed it h
Imagine what God could do in your neighborhood, town, city or state... ...if every man, woman and child who lived there... ...was given the repeated opportunity to see and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ."Imagine the result if the message of Jesus Christ's redeeming death on the cross was given to high-ranking officials, the fringes of society and everyone in between. How many of the gospel seeds sown could go on to produce a harvest of people coming to Christ? And how many groups of new disciples could be started as a result of that harvest? If the soil were fertile and the fields ripe for the harvest, it is possible that whole neighborhoods could be transformed into Christ followers. Then whole areas might be saturated with living communities of God's people eater t

On top of the magazine article I read the other day, Kahlan directed me to something that really got my back up. It's a good thing, though, that fate brought me to Kohana's, who has a post up about a talk she recently gave with a group of prospective adoptive parents. One of the things that frustrates me the most about blogging is my inability to connect with new adoptive parents. There are a gazillion prospective and new adoptive parent blogs out there, but they seem to swirl in a world of their own. I find them hard to read, and with older teens I'm in a completely different place anyway.Kohana and several commenters pointed out that waiting and new adoptive parents probably aren't emotionally able to hear some of the hard stuff that older parents have learned along the way. And that probably explains why a brand new parent, if they found my blog, would run for the hills. And that, of course, is not the desired reaction.I'm going to work on this. I've got a couple of ideas
Ever encounter the case of your technorati authority and post not being updated? My blog has been expericing this for the past 5 days. Even when i ping my blog manually, the last pinged date just keep increasing as the days goes by.Is it a case of the technorati spider not being able to crawl all the massive amount of blogs now? or is it a case of buggy code? Hmmm, it could even be that my blog is flagged for review.I guess it's probably because my blog is flag for review, however, i have no idea what critera is used in flagging blogs for review?? Tried looking for answers in google but didn't really find any. The solution according to technorati is to submit the contact us form. I have done that but i received a auto-reply telling me they are now facing a backlog is support...So what can i do for technorati now? Basically i can only wait and hope for the best.Totally have no idea when my blog will be reviewed.
Oil prices hit a fresh intraday high Wednesday - despite the government's report showing surprising inventory growth - after Turkey authorized military action in Iraq.Light, sweet crude for November delivery rose 89 cents to $88.50 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, eclipsing Tuesday's record trading high of $88.20; the price rose as high as $89.00 before retreating. On Tuesday, oil prices closed at an all time high of $87.61.Just after the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration inventory report earlier in the session, oil prices fell as low as $87.09 before rebounding.Despite the surprise increase in inventories, tensions between Turkey and Kurdish separatists in northern Iraq continued to support higher crude prices. The Turkish parliament voted 507 to 19 Wednesday to authorize its military to stage an incursion into Iraq to take on Kurdish rebels.Conflict along the Turkey-Iraq border could disrupt oil supplies coming out of the region and drive crude pric

Hypertension aka high blood pressure has often been labeled a silent killer and the name is quite apt. Millions of people every year go about their daily routines not knowing that they are essentially a ticking time bomb. Many people won’t experience any known side effects for years until some part of their body, like a vital organ is damaged. If left unchecked, the effects of high blood pressure can be quite serious and irreversible.
Effects of High Blood Pressure on the Heart
A heart attack is among the most common effects of high blood pressure and the most feared. Your arteries are responsible for carrying oxygenated blood to the heart and the rest of your body. When your heart is lacking oxygen, you experience angina (chest pain) which is a major red flag that is something is wrong such as blocked or hardened arteries. If you ignore those chest pains for too long, you could experience congestive heart failure.

Podcast Marketing has started to create some buzz amongst internet marketers for being a marketing source that has remained virtually untapped. Those who have taken advantage of podcasting have found that broadcast marketing yields incredible results.
When the World Wide Web really started to come to life, it offered business opportunities that were truly global in their scope. It was like doing business in the Wild West, and small and large companies alike were able to exploit this new frontier and compete on the world stage. It wasn’t until the advent of the search engine that the internet became somewhat organized. Unfortunately, this also had an unintended effect. Many web based companies were forced to go under because internet users were unable to locate them in the search engines. Obviously, this temporarily shrank the competitive market and forced web business owners to become much more technologically savvy. Currently, internet based companies have a host of avenues availab

Possessing the ability to ignore the things that most people find motivating like their health, comfort, whether they’re alive, etc, fanatics make for difficult opponents. Consider Iraq: Insurgents have the opportunity to live in a democracy awash in oil and the goodwill of the most powerful country on Earth yet prefer to live like hunted animals, running from hideout to hideout, and living on scraps in between hunting excursions in which their prey is often the people they think they’re assisting.
Our own Western history has had long bouts of fanaticism, from the similar religious kind in the Crusades and the hundred years’ war (I realize that many events had multiple causes and that the leaders of those movements had many, often conflicting rationales, but the driving force, for the average participant, was as I indicate. The same holds true today. Many of the suicide bombers think they’re fighting for God, but their leaders’ impetus may be nothing more

Names like Whitfield, Spurgeon, Wesley… and even within our movement, Chuck Smith.

What's the first thing in the morning you do? Open your eyes and right from the bed you catch up with the bill board carrying the smart caption on a coffee brand. It's no dreaming but the boon of outdoor advertising.Morning begins with the ad of the coffee and then you take the first sip. Even if you are not so fond of this beverage, the impact of this outdoor advertising will instigate you to try out cappuccino at the break of the day. Well it can be any product and not necessarily coffee. Coffee is just an example to show you the greater impact an outdoor advertising can leave on you.Catchy and interesting outdoor ads create appealThe basic idea behind outdoor advertising is to focus a product or a service to a group of people living in a particular region. When a hoarding or a bill board is raised up, the importance of the location is always looked into. Now you cannot really carry out the ad of a hi-fi cosmetic product in a slum area. Again not so expensive body soap will do well
Forget about any hopes for progress. We're now reaching back over 15 years to an earlier failure, George H.W. Bush. The single-term, do-nothing president who was thrown out of office. The one who said there was a lot of economic opportunity in the country because of a help wanted sign he saw at a fast food restaurant. The one who threw up on Japanese leaders during a tragic trip there, dragging executives from America's auto companies, which were in as bad of shape as they are now. The one who was amazed at supermarket scanner technology, which was then already a decade old. The one who didn't push thru any meaningful domestic agenda, flip-flopped on taxes, never understood voter frustrations over the economy, didn't finish the job in Iraq, never addressed unfair trade practices around the world, and did nothing for HIV/AIDS. That George H.W. Bush.

China’s a big buzzword everywhere with its endless market opportunities, but Israel is especially pushing on strong. With the recent takeovers by large Israeli companies over local companies in China (Amdocs, Mercury etc.) and the rising attention China’s been getting in the financial newspapers that I read I think it’s safe to say that Israel is definitely serious about China. This week’s reports about the Israeli Prime Minister’s Conference for Export and International Cooperation has reassured this with some statistics. Here are the details from the Chinese media (bold not in original text) :
China Daily - Trade:China No 1 in Israeli Asian trade
China-Israel trade volume topped 3 billion U.S. dollars in 2005, the highest among Israel’s trade volumes with Asian economies, a Chinese diplomat said on Wednesday.
Addressing a plenary session of the Prime Minister’s Conference for Export and International Cooperation attended by more than 1,000
Just think of Rs. 1800 crore confectionary market in India. Now think of any grocery and convenience outlet in your vicinity. Do you see one of Mint-O, candyman etc. You guys must be thinking how they reach the end outlet. I must tell you - ITS NOT EASY. Covering millions of outlets everyday/ weekly is a monumental task.Let me give you some insights. There are different levels in the supply chain which make the stock reach the end consumer. They are:1) Factory: Production is done in few factories in India.2) Warehouse service provider: Using all the fundas of Supply Chain Management - mainly operation optimization - or route optimization. So there are number of WSPs at strategic locations. I am not going deep into it.3) Wholesalers/ Distributers: Now every section/ circle will have different distributors. This guy must have the financial capacity to buy the stock from the company without any credit and must have the manpower to sell the stock in a particular market.4) Secondary Wholesal
I need to stop. I need to breath. I need to relax. I take to heart way too many things. I can't seem to just live and let live. I don't forgive very easily. This is something I recognize. Those that know me are always telling me that I'm pretty laid back. This couldn't be further from the truth. I may seem calm on the outside - but in my head things are going a mile a minute and sometimes I just want it to stop.Funny thing is it feels like I haven't been through this before. I have. I've had plenty of boys that I've been into that haven't returned the sentiment. But this … it's just different. At the risk of sounding completely pathetic, I just keep having to say it over and over. But it makes me feel better. I need to keep talking about it and since I can't really do that in my real life I do it here. Where I know it's reaching someone.Tomorrow start my 30th year on this planet. I'm going to try and enjoy it.
By Ken BorlandConvenor of selectors Haroon Lorgat said South Africa were confident of reaching racial targets after naming 14 coloured players on Tuesday in their provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup.Cricket South Africa (CSA) has imposed a target of seven coloured players in the final 15-man squad which needs to be announced by Feb. 13."That's the target we have been aspiring to achieve and the last two years have been part of that process," Lorgat told reporters. "I can't see why we won't achieve that and I will be over the moon if we can select seven or more players of colour."We are already pretty close to the final 15. Twelve or 13 players are pencilled in and we will have to see what unfolds during the Pakistan series."South Africa start a three-test series against Pakistan here on Thursday which will be followed by five one-dayers between Feb. 4-14.Fourteen of the provisional squad not involved in the test series will play three limited-overs matches in Zimbabwe later t
