5 Ways To Protect Your Bond Portfolio From Rising Interest Rates
The Federal Reserve recently raised its target federal funds rate for the first time since March 2000. This could be just the tip of the iceberg, though, as many experts believe rising inflation and a strengthening economy will spur continued rate hikes for the foreseeable future. This is bad news for bond investors, since bonds lose value as interest rates rise. The reason stems from the fact

      Car loan rates very affordable
With the Bank of England making several cuts lately to the base rate it charges lenders to finance loans, many lenders have opted to pass great savings on to their customers, in the form of better car loan rates. Borrowers with good credit regularly have access to annual percentage rates (APR) around six to eight per cent in the current motor loan environment. Given that car loan repayment periods range from around 36 to 72 months, every per cent of interest savings a borrower can achieve could save hundreds or thousands of pounds over the length of the loan. Another reason car loan rates have become more favorable to Brits is increased competition from customer-oriented, independent motor loan specialists. Many people have relied on the often expensive cover offered by car dealers to mee

Depressed have high rates of physical illness
People with recurrent depression have high rates of many common physical illnesses, such as gastric ulcer, rhinitis/hay fever, osteoarthritis, thyroid disease, hypertension and asthma, a new study has found. The study compared 1546 people with recurrent depression with 884 psychiatrically healthy controls in terms of past treatment for 16 different physical disorders. Since many medical disorders are related to obesity, the researchers also examined body mass index (BMI) in both groups. It was found that 15 physical disorders were significantly more frequent in people with recurrent depression than in controls. However, when BMI, age and gender were taken into account, depression was found to predict 6 disorders - gastric ulcer, asthma, rhinitis, hypertension, thyroid disease and osteoarth

Currency Trading Rates - How To Read Them
Foreign Exchange (or Forex) trading has grown in popularity in the last ten years. There are new traders entering the market every day, and the daily trading volume in this financial market is ever-increasing.Unlike most other financial trading markets, currencies are not traded on their own, but rather in pairs. The trading of currency pairs have unfortunately confused many would-be traders and have discouraged them from learning more about currency trading. What Is A Currency Pair?Whenever we purchase a product, we pay money for it. This is also what happens in the stock and futures trading markets: we trade our money in exchange for a stock or for a futures contract. It's not a difficult concept to grasp, right? Now, in the currency market, things will get a little more complicated. You s

Why Mortgage rates aren't falling even though the economy is shedding jobs?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. economy shed 20,000 jobs in April 2008.  The labor force now counts at 146 million people as employed. Normally, a loss of jobs would foretell economic weakness and would be a good thing for mortgage rate shoppers.  Today, though, traders had been expecting a larger loss of 70,000 jobs. In other words, today's jobs report looks surprisingly strong.  The stock market is now rallying on optimism that "the worst is over" for the U.S. economy and evidence supporting the Federal Reserve's remarks that its rate cuts were starting to take hold.  The stock market's gains are the bond market's losses. Fed cuts rates by 25bps, but leaves door open for more rate cuts if needed. GDP comes in better than expected.
CURRENCY TRADING SUMMARYU.S. Dollar Trading (USD) was weaker on Wednesday after the Fed yet again cut rates by 0.25% to 2.00% for the seventh time since September last year. The votes counted 8-2 in favour of the cut, with only Fisher and Plosser preferring no change. The accompanying statement which was widely expected to suggest the Fed would ease its rate cutting for now, only hinted at the Fed’s future course of action by suggesting “indicators of inflation expectations have risen in recent months.” The market took these sorts of comments as affirmation that the Fed is near a pause in rate cutting but is leaving the door open to further rate cuts should the economy need the relief. US GDP for Q1 grew by 0.6%, surpassing forecasts of a 0.2% growth, suggesting the economy is still

Portsmouth New Hampshire Real Estate Absorption Rate Information If youre a property owner in the Portsmouth New Hampshire area, or anywhere for that matter, one of the things thats really important to know in todays real estate market is the absorption rate for your area.  What is that, and more importantly, why should you care about it? The real estate absorption rate tells you just how long it would take for the buyers out there in the market to absorb the current inventory of homes or condos with no more new listings coming on the market.  We start with the number of sales that took place within a specific period of time, and then we look at the number of properties currently for sale, and come up with amount of time it would take to sell every property currently o

      CD rates
Saving money was drilled into me as a kid and my parents made sure I learned the value of a dollar from an early age. Since I was young I have had a good part of my savings in a high interest certificate of deposit (CD) account earning interest. CD accounts are offered by major banks and financial institutions and pay you interest for your money you deposit and that money is locked down for a specific amount of time (that you choose). Basically, the longer the term you deposit your money for the higher the interest rate and your money makes money!I know this all sounds great, but the problem is that there is so many of these accounts offered by many different financial institutions and the rates can vary up to a whole percent or two. Fortunately, there are some fantastic sites like eMoneyC

But instead of removing my entrecard, I still cling on because of one reason. Most of my traffic comes from entrecard. And it’s like, remove it and my blog will die. That was until I read this post by Turnip – Idiots and Bounce Rates – and it somehow altered my perspective regarding bounce rates, but not entirely.Basically, bounce rates, from my research, have two possible definitions. FOMC Cuts Rates As Expected Amid High Uncertainty About Inflation
The Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) widely expected move to cut the Fed Funds rate by 25 basis points to 2% fails to instill confidence. Citing both the sagging economy and a highly uncertain inflation outlook the FOMC favored in an 8-2 split vote to try and stimulate the economy with cheaper credit. This will not go down well with consumers and businesses suffering from a parabolic development of their daily expenses. CNBC had an interview with the president of the American Retail Bakers, whose name I did not jot down. The lady was not too happy about the Fed's move. She would have preferred to see a sign that the Fed is truly concerned about inflation and will do something against it. Wall Street was disappointed too. METRO FORECLOSE RATE SOARS 34% by NY Post - snips:The number of New Yorkers losing their homes to foreclosure jumped by a third compared with a year ago, a study has found - and experts are warning that the worst is yet to come... Analysts once predicted that New York's real-estate market would be largely insulated from the wave of home-loan defaults affecting much of the country. But lawmakers and local organizations are now working overtime to keep up with the volume of requests for help from homeowners in crisis. New York's foreclosure process is unusually long, taking more than a year for defaulting homeowners to lose their homes, so experts say the data probably does not reflect the level of foreclosures that will hit the area. As expected, the Bank of Japan held rates unchanged at 0.50% on Monday evening, citing a continuing weakening economic situation both locally and abroad, followed by promises to act flexibly versus uncertainties surrounding the Japanese economic outlook. Rising food and oil prices, along with the risk of a U.S. economic slowdown spilling into the global economy, were putting downward pressures on Japanese growth prospects. However, with interest rates already very low, the expected moderation in GDP would only be temporary, according to the statement released with the decision. I've heard everything from 90% of startups fail in their first year to 20% fail in their first year. I think it's safe to say that the actual business failure rate is probably somewhere in between those numbers. I can understand why this is such a hard statistic to keep though. There is no surefire way to track every sole proprietorship, home based business, ebay entrepreneur, etc...that decides to start collecting money for their services. This is why I think that somebody needs to take the liberty of breaking these statistics down and displaying failure rates for each type of business entity. For instance, a corporation will probably not fail at the same rate as a sole proprietorship simply bec
