El dúo de Brooklyn, NY de música electrónica, Ratatat, que estará en México para el Festival Sonofilia, también presentará su acto en vivo en Pasagüero el jueves 6 de diciembre. Evan Mast y Mike Stroud, vienen por parte de la productora 2abejas, misma que nos dio el gusto de presenciar a Justice el pasado mes de octubre. The tracks on the album aren’t songs per se. They’re mostly extended loops of beats and melodies that last between one and two minutes. Then, just as you’re starting to really get into them, they just stop. Most of the unnamed tracks don’t even get a fade out.
After paying off one of the security to get all of us on the ground floor, we soon took in the sounds of Sebastian and Kavinsky who were warming up the crowd. The two DJs staged two sets in between Daft Punk and Ratatat. There were near 14000 people there, and sold out. We got there aruond 6 and the show wasn't starting til 8 o'clock with Daft Punk playing at 11!Ratatat had an awesome back drop with what looked like to be shapes of silly putty, stop animation combined with speed and words. It was a really awesome set with sounds of wildcats during the song. They had the crowd going and this performance was better than the first time I saw them. I thought their set was pretty quick but still awesome. After that the battle began.This was the first time I saw Daft Punk so I was totally ready to smash through the crowd to get in the front. So, the SXSW week is over, and I know I have way more energy now than those that attended the festival and had an amazing time. I hope everyone enjoyed audio coverage from Mike, I thought it was fun. I’m starting off this Monday morning with a reminder that Ratatat is at the Southgate House tonight, it’s really a show you should make a point to be at. The most recent album from them, Classics, is an absolute gem. So, be sure to head down to Newport tonight if you are in the area and take in what should be a great show.
It’s a 10$ show if you buy in advance on the SG website, and it’s 12$ at the door. The show should go off around 10pm.
