This is a wonderful holiday cookie recipe that I have come to love over the years. The Raspberry Almond Shortbread Cookies come from New Hampshire from The Forest which is a quaint country inn located there. I got it from my magazine Holiday Cakes and Cookies by Family Circle from 1999. They are super simple to make and the recipe makes quite a bit of cookies. It is versatile in that you can u
About a week or two ago I posted photos and a recipe of the jello cake I made. One of the few desserts from my own childhood, we loved jello cake so much, one of my brothers would request it for his birthday cake. This is another version - one I got from a magazine I believe (?) although I don't remember which one anymore. I love the raspberry/lemonade mixture and I think it would be wonderful in
I found these turnovers in a new magazine I picked up and made just a couple changes to it. The magazine I found this recipe in is called All You (October 24, 2008 issue)and you can find it at their website at www.allyou.com. It seems to be a pretty good magazine that is not expensive (magazines are getting so expensive these days). I substituted my own raspberry freezer jam for store bought r
Necessity really is the mother of invention. What people fail to mention is that mothers usually are the ones that have the necessity since they are always so busy so actually in the end it is really mothers that are the mother of invention.James and I were shopping the other day and he saw this salad dressing. I enjoy the limited edition Hershey’s Kisses so much that I bestowed the silver medal to them on my Top 10 Best Spinoff Candy list. The varieties they release aren’t always amazing, but when they are, they are.
Lately, there haven’t been too many releases since the 100th Anniversary passed, but every now and then [...]
Back in 2000 we were relocated again, this time about 1 1/2 hours from my parents. This meant we saw them a little more often, but it was also just 3 months before my Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. When that happened I ended up spending even a little more time there of course and since reading is something I love to do I passed some of the time reading everything I could get my hands o
Gazpacho is definitely a summer favorite of mine – light and cooling, it's the perfect introduction to an outdoor meal served on the patio. Traditionally it’s based around mostly tomatoes and bread (of all things!) – but I wanted something more fruity, showcasing fresh raspberries, so I came up with this little ditty! :) I think the contrast of the acidic onions and peppers with the sweet, t

One of the challenges of having a food blog—or any blog—is coming up with new content relevant to the blog’s focus. With the site being nearly 2 years old, I’ve kind of used up most of the recipes that I have been making for a decade or longer (I’ve still got a couple left for [...]
A little less than a year ago, I left my last office job (ever, I hope). I haven't really kept in touch with my old co-workers, but oddly, I am still good friends with the office that was down the hall. The small boutique office of Signature Bank was just the coolest little group that I really enjoyed eating lunch with almost daily. I went back to visit them yesterday, had lunch with Anthony, but
I love Nigella’s Quadruple chocolate and make it on a regular basis, both on request of friends or to take to friends, but this time I decided to modify the recipe slightly by replacing the cocoa with raspberries and the chocolate chips with white chocolate. The result - a beautiful tangy and sweet cake. [...]
The easiest way to enjoy fresh fruits as a simple yet delicious dessert is by baking them into pies and crumbles! This lovely Raspberry Almond Crumble made with wholegrain flour is proof enough, don't you think! Crips, Crumbles, Cobblers and Pies all belong to the same family, but technically, they are slightly different. A Crumble is a british dessert containing stewed fruit topped with a crumbly
Trek Nitro Energy Drink is one of the most unique offerings I have seen from a beverage producer. The drink is actually called Nitro by Trek and is produced by Leading Brands, the team behind other stellar energy drinks like Stoked and Die Hard. Apparently Trek Nitro has been discontinued, which is a shame because it is a very different offering. The product speaks the global traveler as well as

"Growing Raspberry and Blackberry Plants" The home garden is not complete unless it contains such small fruits as the raspberry and blackberry plants. Thanks for all the great comments. I am feeling better, although I’ll admit that this cold is just hanging on and tormenting me. But enough of that because despite the silly cold I’m as busy as ever and I’ve got something special to share with you today. I know it’s just a salad but I [...]
I've always preferred crepes over omelettes, especially for breakfasts, but after watching Alton Brown's Good Eats episode featuring Crepes, I have to say I've become a fan! These Nutella Crepes are particularly special as they have hazelnut-flavored Nutella, one of my favorite indulgences! Seriously, there's no way someone could refuse a helping of Nutella; creamy, chocalatey, nutty, gooey, velve

It uses fresh raspberries... which I saw are on sale this week at my local grocer
I’m about to reveal a little-known Candy Addict secret about myself, something that only my three non-judgmental roommates have become privy to over the course of our mulit-year cohabitation. Many visitors to this review site ask why I have never reviewed Mountain Dew before especially since I have done one for Vault. The difference between Vault and Mountain Dew is that Vault is an energy soda, while Mountain Dew is simply a soda having nothing else, but caffeine. Still I have always loved the Mountain Dew flavor and always found it good for a pick me up before energy drinks came

The new Hydrive, Hydrive S Strength Energy Drink really set my expectations high. Not only is this a new Hydrive

Normally I leave the sweets to my sweet. But every once in a while I venture down the avenue toward a dessert. This one turned out pretty tasty. I was sort of flying by the seat of my pants, as I often do, and I managed to turn out a tart-like crisp that I could be proud of. I had planned to make this for the Royal Foodie Joust, but I had not been feeling very well over the past few weeks and

Last week we witnessed temperatures peaking at 90, and my gym is suddenly so full of people trying to get into shape for the beach that there's no doubt in my mind that summer is definitely here! And that means more sun, more barbecues and more cool and refreshing drinks. We celebrated the onset of summer with the luscious Rasperry Lassi, which is a fancy name for a smoothie or yoghurt cooler. Lassi is a traditional Indian yogurt drink which originated from the state of Punjab. Its more like a thick-shake, but with yoghurt and milk. Over time, the basic recipe underwent a makeover with addition of fruits and other flavors. Everyone is familiar with the Mango Lassi, which you must have seen on several restaurant menus. But this Raspberry Lassi is a class apart, because the tartness of the r
When you think about making desserts, fruits are one of the main ingredients most of the times. One of the easiest and most satisfying way of eating seasonal fruits is by making coulis, compote or preserves out of them, without giving up their nutritional value. Raspberry Coulis is one of the preferred toppings for many desserts. Coulis, traditionally a french recipe, is a form of thick sauce made from puréed and strained vegetables or fruits, and used as a base for other sauces or as toppings for other dishes. I have used it as a primary ingredient in my recipe for an easy Layered Dessert with Raspberry Coulis and Creme Fraiche; I also used some crushed orange biscuits to give it that cheesecake-like appeal. The recipe below can be easily modified to suit availability of seasonal fruits l

Never had a beard before!Last fall my father and stepmother decided that as part of their retired life they wanted to relocate...to Hawaii! Now this was not some decision made in haste. He had already been retired for almost two years and had spent the middle of January until the beginning of April in Hawaii for those previous two years. They had fallen in love with the islands and announced to my siblings and I after returning from their second trip that they were selling their house (and most of their belongings) and moving to Hawaii! By August of 2007, their house was sold (it was actually only on the market for 48 hours before they had a contract), many of their belongings were sold, shipped, donated, or in storage. In a five month period, they had gone from grounded and rooted in a b

As you might know, my big weakness is blush. If you make it bright and it goes on my cheeks (the ones on my face mind you), I'll probably be making a beeline for the blush. So it comes as no surprise that I absolutely adore Bobbi Brown's semi-new pot rouge in Raspberry. This is a gorgeous, wearable deep raspberry colour with blue undertones. The texture feels creamier than the other pot rouges, but that might just be my imagination. I find that the texture of Bobbi's pot rouges are different than my other cream blushes as I find the consistency thicker somehow. A really good tip for applying pot rouges or cream blushes in general is to dot it on to the apple of your cheeks and buff it in with a brush like the MAC 109. This gives me an amazing, lit from within, natural glow.As for how the co

I know I am still stuck in raspberry-chocolate mode. But hey, at least it’s not a cupcake. These are mini turnovers filled with raspberry jam and dark chocolate. The recipe is from Gourmet magazine and is super easy to put together. The recipe calls for a package of puff pastry. That’s right, from the store but you could make yours if you like. I’ll still like you. I used raspberry jam and dark chocolate, but I believe Gourmet used milk chocolate and strawberry jam? My point is you can use anything you like. Heck, you could even leave out the jam. But if you leave out the chocolate, we’re done. Ah, just kidding.I dusted the turnovers with powder sugar and served them with espresso. Yeah, I can get fancy. Oh, before I forget, you can make them any size, just make sure you
The second month of this New Year has kicked in, and we all know that February is the month to celebrate love, as people all around the world have begun to plan for the Valentine's Day. Love and chocolate go hand in hand, so its natural that I decided to practise my hand at some chocolate art to prepare for my valentine. I always wanted to make Molten Cupcakes, those sweet delights with a gooey chocalatey center that melts in your mouth! But as I was ready to go all out, I went for combining some raspberry sauce alongwith the chocolate sauce, and also try a hand at making some patterns with white chocolate. The result was this decadent dessert where the sweet chocolate was balanced perfectly by the tartness of the raspberries, giving a spoonful of heaven in every bite!Ingredients3/4 cup se

Its only December, but Bobbi Brown’s Spring 2008 collection is already generating lots of interest with its Raspberry Pink theme. I got this picture of the model off cosmoty.de which is a German site.
I love the way the pink looks on the cheeks. It looks so fresh and bright on the model. I’m not quite sure how it’ll look on me though, but its definitely got my interest, seeing as to how I really love blushes.
The eyes look quite normal Bobbi Brown neutral colours, which is usual but the lips look nice too. I don’t usually go for Bobbi Brown’s palettes because I’m not much into palettes that have lip products in them, but this new Raspberry Pink palette is definitely stoking a lot of interest in my book! It goes on sale in the USA after Christmas but I suppose we should only expect it here in Malaysia some time in February.
Here is a picture of some of the products courtesy of makeupbag.net.

Even though you have probably already gone through this exercise in the self-evaluation phase of your career planning, it’s important to go through it one more time: know how you measure up against your competition. And this time take very specific note of your competitive differences. Don’t go along with the mistaken impression that you can sell based only on your own personal value—remember our discussion of product-driven marketing versus customer-driven marketing. Know what your specific advantage is for each specific employer. Be ready to articulate that advantage in very precise language.Success in interviewing involves being fully prepared. But it’s more than that—you must stand out in a world of plain vanilla job candidates. What particular strengths make you uncommon? What makes you unique? What is your competitive differentiation? What is your unique value proposition? Be ready to differentiate yourself. Be ready to show your “competitive advantage.” And be read

We all know that everyone loves ice cream. We all have our own preference when it comes to brand and flavor. Strauss Ice Cream is a known brand and among their promotion right now is going the organically green way.
We all have apprehensions and question in mind when it comes to green implications on products we purchase. But considering that this ice cream brand is a good one, it is worth giving it a try.
One good thing about “reviewing” organic, natural, etc items is that there is definitely no shortage of choices! I try to choose items that “average” people might actually use or consume, not going for the $100 “organic cotton sheets“, but things you might see at your grocery store or that are worth purchasing online but are not too expensive.
Today I came across Straus Family Creamery Super Premium Ice Cream in Raspberry, which states “I’m Organic” rather boldly on the package. This product is not only USDA Certified Organic, b
