When my boyfriend, Jerrid, was here visiting me we went to Rapids Waterpark in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was a Sunday and the weather was beautiful. We had so much fun! Some of the slides were actually pretty scary. After going down 2 of them, Alexis (black swimsuit) called it a day and spent the rest of the time tanning by the wave pool. Rosie, Jerrid, and I kept going on the rides.
Last week Patty and I jumped in the Jeep and headed South and didn’t stop till we reached Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Someday I’ll have to traverse the midwest to create a more comprehensive guide of restaurants serving the hearty foods from the British Isles. But this time I was headed to West Michigan for the wedding of two friends, which as expected was even more festive and delightful than my Thursday night excursion to Chicago’s Duke of Perth.
By coincidence we continued the theme and Saturday night wound up at Graydon’s Crossing, which rivaled Duke of Perth in flavor and ambiance. Graydon’s Crossing is located just north of downtown Grand Rapids about - Wait come back! Don’t stop reading. So you never plan to visit Grand Rapids, however I’m sure my insider’s guide from earlier this year will convince at least someone (maybe under 60) to consider adding it to their “100 places” list.

With short planning time and limited budget, we decided to stay in Manila for the 5 day holiday. Not wanting to do nothing for these rare vacation moments, we decided to do a day trip in Pagsanjan Falls. I’ve been hearing about this place since I was a kid but I’ve never really had the chance to go so its pretty exciting to see what this place is all about.
Pagsanjan is about 2 hours away from Makati. We left Makati at 730 am on a Good Friday so there were almost no cars on the road. To get there, take the South Super Highway all the way down to the last exit — Calamba, Laguna. Follow the road that leads to Los Banos, Laguna. Take the main road and you’ll get to Pagsanjan, Laguna. You’ll be passing the municipalities of Los Banos, Pila and Sta. Cruz. Enjoy the ride! To be sure, this all happened last Saturday. But it’s taken me that long to catch up at work, decompress and unravel everything that happened during last weekend’s outing in the Canadian city of lights. Surprisingly enough, the world back home did not in fact stop while we were gone.
I bolted out of bed around 8:30a. Oddly enough, K did the same. We were after all in Montreal - our home away from home. Le maison away de le maison. Or something like that.
Were the Delta Montreal a reputable five-star hotel like say, Howard Johnson’s, they would provide complimentary wifi. Alas, their guaranteed affluent clientèle with guaranteed expense accounts guaranteed us that if we wanted net access, we would indeed be coughing up the $19.99 daily fee. My response to that was “no” which I’m pretty sure is the same in French as in English. Thus, I was reduced to committing all my memories to an offline Word file two to three days after they actually happ
The sun was out today which was great since we were on our way to Pagsanjan, Laguna to check out the famous waterfalls. After having to deal with a drizzle yesterday morning, this was good news. The drive down south wasn't much of a hassle since we left after rush hour. It surprised me that the traffic in Calamba and Los Banos wasn't as heavy as I expected in to be.We could have passed by the town of Pila on the way to Pagsanjan but we didn't have much time since it was nearing lunch. As we got into town, we saw large tarpaulin billboards from the LGU announcing that there was a standard rate for boat rides to the falls which was PHP660 per head. It also warned people to book their rides with resorts and inns. There were actually a lot of boatmen along the road pointing us towards the resorts.
