Who could forget the greatness of Randy Johnson in baseball? His four Cy Young, his 300-plus wins, his 3000-plus strikeouts, his fastball, and his performance in the most thrilling Game Seven World Series against the New York Yankees in 2001.
His pitches say it all especially his fastball that’s unhittable

Randy Johnson threw 60 pitches in four innings in a Triple-A Tuscon Sidewinders minor league camp game on Tuesday. Here's a paragraph from the AP release:It's the third time Johnson has thrown in a game this spring. He is tentatively scheduled to pitch April 8 for Class-A Visalia and then April 13 for Tucson before joining the Diamondbacks in mid-April.How fast Johnson recovers will determine if he will skip any minor league outings.Arizona Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said that Johnson, despite [Johnson] having high expectations for himself, does not expect him to throw 100 mph. However, he will likely throw around 95 mph when healthy again. It's a shame that things didn't work out for Johnson in New York. He was always one of my favorite pitchers, even before he was a Yankee. Even in his "bad" season, Johnson had 17 wins with 172 strike outs. For the full AP release, click here. For Johnson's season-by-season stats, click here.
According to Peter Abraham of the Journal News, the deal between the New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks could be picking up majoring steam as the Diamondbacks have reportedly asked for a 72 hour negotiating window with Johnson. The D’backs want to settle his contract status for 2008 and also work on the $40 million dollars in deferred money the D’backs already owe him from his previous stint in Arizona.
This deal could be great for Johnson because he lives about 14 miles from the ballpark. Also, he never seemed to really fit into the New York market especially with the media hounding his every move. It remains to be seen what else New York will be giving the Diamondbacks. We can only wait til this becomes official to find out.
This brings up an interesting question. What does this do to the availability of Rogers Clemens? Rumors are Randy Johnson and him never got along. So were the Yankees getting rid of Johnson as a good faith move to show Clemens they were interes
The New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks have apparently come to an agreement and it looks like Randy Johnson is heading back to Arizona.Though nothing is finalized yet, it looks like the Yankees will receive relief pitcher Luis Vizcaino and minor league right-handers Ross Ohlendorf and Steven Jackson, and shortstop Alberto Gonzalez, a baseball official said, speaking on condition of anonymity, according to the AP article. The Yankees would also only have to pay $2 million of Johnson's $16 million contract. The deal has to be finalized Sunday by 5 p.m. EST. Talks will begin tomorrow, according to Alan Nero, one of Johnson's representatives. As of now, it looks as though the Yankees' starting rotation will include Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina, Andy Pettitte and Kei Igawa.Roger Clemens has not announced whether or not he wishes to return to the Yankees once again. Hopefully, he stays in Texas! For the AP article on the trade, click here.
I don't mean to be so negative but for the last twenty years there has not been a single good thing I could say about Randy Johnson. I think the only thing he has ever done to endear himself (aside from the whole 4,000 K's thing) is scare the hell ...
