So I spend an inordinate time on this blog reporting Entertainment news which I find interesting, but I realize many of you probably do not find it nearly as interesting. That's why I'm starting my weekly "Random Sh*t" feature. This week we're going to take a look at probably the funniest tour rider I've ever read. For those that don't know, a rider is basically a list of stuff a band needs from
I spied with my naked (is that the right part of this saying?) eye...a budding leaf on the hedge in front of my house. It is a glorious day in hedge land...The hedge! It regroweth. In other news...last week I went out on two dates with two different people. Both lovely. Both times I left with a "let's do it again" ending. And, several days later...Neither have called.Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. In oth
I believe someone used the term “gorg” to describe Angelina Jolie in this photo. I just like the fact they all wear black.

Yesterday was gorgeous here. Today promises to be even prettier. The trees are changing every time I look out the window! The boys are changing every time I look at them.
We are on a push to finish things up & tie up loose ends so the boys will be able to take a short break (hopefully they will get two weeks off) from school. I will be on a cleaning & decluttering roll, hopefully. We have
The English Courtesan is all of a flutter today because she’s been tagged by the Delectable Dolly Mopp of London! ‘Oh the honour, the honour!’ wept the English Courtesan lying prostrate before the Deliciousness of Dolly ‘The English Courtesan is not worthy!’.Dolly Mopp mopped the English Courtesan’s fevered brow. With a saucy and secretive smile and a brush of her bountiful bosoms, she whispered in the English Courtesan’s ear…no, sorry, that’s a story for another day isn’t it?Those of the readers who have yet to become acquainted with the Mistress of Moppery should hurry over to Dolly Mopp's online lair at once. She has an online Venetian boudoir and even a Victorian boudoir for the English Courtesan to read Victorian novels in! She wears shorts with a double breasted s
So, the tour is over. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to go. :( I heard nothing but good things from everyone that attended. I'm glad everything went smoothly and that there was no BOBW drama. I observed a a few searches in my metadata stats for a shell based random generator. I know Korn, Bash, and Z Shell shells support a RANDOM variable. One thing I haven't done much of lately is out and out writing, and I kind of miss it. The main reason I started doing this blog was to write down what ever crazy thought I may have as well to talk about the music I've been posting. I was always about quality over quantity and in some ways I've turned this into one of things I was against. Since starting this new job, 11 of my daily hours is

Today we have a quickie for SQL jockies working in MS Access land: how to select a result set of random records. Disclaimer The meaning of the word quickie in this article is two-fold. First, this is a small article — a quick tip. Second, this is not mean to be used for large or frequently-called queries. ORDER BY RAND() is very inefficient. The table I am working with contains only a few hundred records, and I need to generate the result set just once. How not to do it Thinking in MySQL terms, my first instinct was to use the following query to produce a small result set of random records. SELECT * FROM [MyTable]ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT nThis does not work in Microsoft Access — instead, you need to call the Rnd function.Querying Random Records in MS AccessThe following query
How stimulating! Comical yet tragic, sort of like global politics. I watch this and I just picture military leaders thinking out loud, and it goes a little something like this: “go my precious little minions, you may not be of the highest intellectual caliber, but you sure take a bullet like a trooper, and with the right tools boy can you mow down them civilians, that’ll put the fear of democracy into their blackened hearts, and hey if I happen to get a ‘lil summin summin’ out of it then what the heck why not! Time never moves slower than when you are watching a progress bar when you're downloading something or installing a program on your computer. "XSketch is a new Ajax/javascript game that lets up to seven users play pictionary with each other. One person gets a word and starts drawing, the other users guess. If someone gets it right, both the drawer and the guesser get points. This is the third game created by Ryan Dewsbury on the Google Web Toolkit (he also wrote a book on the subject). His first effort was a Texas Holdem poker game called gpokr. He then created kdice, a Risk-like online game which was nominated for a Crunchies award last January."[via tech crunch]

*Sigh*I just finished reading 13 lectures on Complementary Medicine in 13 hours. Not straight 13 hours non-stop la. I not bit-cho-so... yet. Started yesterday night, all the way till tonight.I learnt to late that I can't just cover everything in that module the day before the paper itself, as I initially planned to do. After looking at the module guide yesterday night, I began panicking - this module has 28 (or is it 27?) lectures - the most among all the modules. T-THence the motivation and energy to study them lectures as completely and as quickly as possible. At first, it was just some recalls on certain topics. Then it was memory re-inforcing. And later on, struggles to imprint all information in my almost bursting brain. And then I came to this :(excerpt from Traditional Chinese Medici

One of the things Vinyl, CD and even ye olde Cassette Tape have over the less traditional media like mp3 is that they normally come fitted with a smidgeon of information about the band in question. The problem with these bitrate ridden objects is that their ID Tags are more often than not as barren as a Samantha Mumba gig. So from time to time I'll happen across a tune that offers little in the way of clues. 'Dream' by Random (!) is one such orphaned ditty. Normally I couldn't give two hoots about a family-free-mptree but this particular effort is too good to be senselessly deleted and promptly forgotten about. The issue is exasperated by the fact that Google has failed Random completely and if Google can't find it (and Poirot, Marple and Holmes are all dead - Fletcher doesn't really count

As a commemoration of my 300th blog entry today, I have removed several potentially libelous blog entries I’ve posted in the last couple of months in regards to the recently passed controversial Internet and Electronic bill, which had the support of less than 1% of Indonesian bloggers . No wonder. Most of us bloggers couldn’t speak out very much for ourselves these days, which is exactly the reason why I’ve been circulating out protests by using a list of e-mails that a top blogger has provided. Our works have kinda become semi-underground now, and let's just hope there won’t be any neo-Che Guevara suddenly springing up of nowhere. There are also two blog entries I have removed in order to save myself from embarrassment. When dogma enters the brain, all intellectual activity ceases -- Robert Anton WilsonA great wave of oppressive tyranny isn't going to strike, but rather a slow seepage of oppressive laws and regulations from within will sink the American dream of liberty --George BaumlerThe means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home -- James Madison: US fourth president, 1751-1836This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector -- Plato: Ancient Greek philosopher (428/427-348/347 B.C.)The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience -- Albert Camus: French novelist
Pictures of hot chicks going to night clubs hardly qualifies as 'newsworthy'. But let's face it, that's the type of hard-hititng journalism this site is build on. Case in point, reality TV star turned quasi-celebrity Chantelle Houghton. She appeared in the British Big Brother beating out fellow bombshell Jodie Marsh. It's that kind of star power that makes the grade for us. Well, that and an enormous rack.

We were blessed with the most perfect last 'full' day here we could have asked for. From 9:30 am - 3:00 pm I never left the cabana except to dip my toes in the ocean or take pictures of my husband and kids. The sun, breeze and surf were perfect. So perfect that twice, tears came to my eyes. I love the ocean so.
As Jody stated in a comment below... "but you just got there!" - so it seems...
David Beckham could be praying the Lakers win, or that Victoria gets an ass.
Emmy Rossum looks amazing and almost got the top spot. But, you know. David Beckham/Emmy Rossum. It is kind of like who would go first on a talk show. As much as I love Emmy, for some reason I don’t think [...]
My best friend sent me a text message today from 42nd and Eighth:"Just witnessed a heart warming NY moment-this high society looking old white lady just tripped over the curb and this gritty, obviously manual labor type young black dude was the first to rush to her rescue. Looked like he was making sure she was ok for a while too. Good stuff."It reminded me of this and made me proud to be living among the best people in the world."Things I Love" Thursdays are inspired by "I Love New York" (BNY, February 14, 2007).

I visited the Ad-Tech show in San Francisco to see what the fuss was about. There was a used car salesman atmosphere permeating the place that’s for sure. To give you a feel for the atmosphere I took one of my random walks [...]
I'm working on dinner, browning ground beef preparatory to making tacos.I love tacos.Michael is sitting in his booster chair at the table, which is directly behind the stove where I'm working. My wife is standing next to me, deciding which kitchen mess to attack first.I'm vaguely aware of the fact that he's counting."...26...27...28...29...30!" he finishes up."He can count to 30? When did that happen?" My wife asks me.I look up at him. He has his fingers laced behind his head, and is repeatedly bending over at the waist, restarting his count. "1...2...3...""He can do sit-ups? Who taught him that?" I ask her back.Sometimes, I wonder what they're doing over at Ms K's.
