My new White classmates told me that the Brown on the back of my hands was dirt. I ran home after school eager to wash the dirt away. I was confused and disappointed that my dirt could not wash away. 45 years later my Brown still has not washed away. The Brown is no longer conf

One of the arguments I frequently hear against secession is that the Constitution never mentions this right, so the right must not exist. Assuming for a moment that the rules of a political system control whether a group of citizens may cease participating in that system (a notion that contradicts the Declaration [...]

Wow, it’s been over a week since I last posted…
I don’t like to go this long without writing something, but I’ve been a little under the weather (still am), plus I’ve got a few things stressing me just a little at work (good stress though). I simply haven’t taken the time to post updates to [...]
Here are some thoughts that are bouncing around inside my head this week:I love my students.I'm stoked about what God has been doing in our church and the people He's been bringing in!I really enjoyed preaching on Sunday. It was kind of a last minute thing... as in, I got the "for sure" text on Sunday at 5am. :) I just posted the audio file of the message. You can find it here: 'm looking forward
These days I have been listening to the speeches on Peace TV a lot. Peace TV is a television station that is run by some Islamic Foundation. Dr. Zakir Naik, an Indian by nationality, and a Muslim by religion, seems to be the founder and the chief of this organization, and also the speaker of most of the shows hosted on the channel.
Though named Peace TV, the channel mission seems to be spreading
I got tagged by Jenty to do Cath’s Random Thoughts Meme, so here we go!

-Is there a general stereotype that all plus sized people just wish to wear goth, renaissance or muu muu-like clothing? Herein lies my gripe: I go onto eBay to look for plus sized dresses and about 85% of the search is usually in those categories. Do we really all fit in that category? What about the working plus sized woman? Or the person who happens to be looking for a dress she can wear to a ho
These are just some random thoughts I've had recently. There are probably a few errors in my thinking below, but I still consider it worth thinking about and posting. A previous post on the subject can be found here.Companies can be categorized in all sorts of ways, like small caps, consumer discretionary, industrials, etc. Two general categories are dividend paying companies and non-dividend payi
From JonathanI have been viewing the posts on this site for a couple of months now. I feel very connected to the people and the stories that I read on here. I would say that I am a spiritual person that leans towards humanitarian thinking (I have not studied it much) and more agnostic than atheist. I was going to a United Church of Christ church and loved the spiritualism there, but not the push
Finally, those horrid five days are over, at least for an year. The days collectively miscalled a festival. Of crowds pushing, jostling, shoving, digging, cursing, groping, stomping throughout the night.Strutting, shrieking, belching, spitting and shitting, mobbing their ways through the city. All to catch a glimpse of a few decorated earthen straw-filled idols of the Hindoo mother-goddess propped w
I was clearing my things again, it’s all messed up… I throw the papers and whatever it is that I don’t need any more. Then I saw this piece of paper and read its content… Here it is… “From the first time I saw you, my heart keeps saying it’s you. And every time I see you, I stop and watch you, thinking and dreaming of you. Wondering if you truly know how special you are to me. To me
My stock portfolio, like probably everybody else’s, is at a new low. Let’s not talk about it. I promise I believe things will work out, and it’s not like I’m checking my numbers every day; it’s just Mint.com likes to e-mail me status updates at the end of each week. So I’m just saying.

We (don’t) like Ike!
Family commitments and other things kept me away from blogging last week, and I didn’t want to miss two weeks in a row, so today will be a “random thoughts” day with a couple of odds and ends that I hope you find interesting and/or useful.
I’m writing this from a hotel room. We [...]
Ethan has not been sleeping well. This is causing much dishevel in our world as we are so interconnected. I *think* it is his eye teeth torturing him. The other night he was so worked up, he vomited. Not fun for anyone.

The more time goes by with reporters outnumbering moose in Alaska and no breathless reporting of scandal on Sarah Palin the more likely it seems there is none.Interesting the hypocrisy of both the left and the right on this. For decades the feminist left has argued that women should have the same opportunities as men and men should take up more of the childcare responsibilities. Now we have a case
* We went to Borders today as a family, just to hang out and check out new books there. My daughter said "this family thing is fun!". I think so too. I just wish we have more of this. Seems like families nowadays are always on the run.* I bought a book on McCain and a book on Obama. Both are 4th grade level books. I'll read it with the kids, then we can discuss. I still am undecided who to vo
Every blogger needs a random thoughts post every once in a while. So now it’s my turn for some serious randomness.

I ran across an episode of Million Dollar Listing on Bravo flipping through channels the other night and of course being a real estate agent, I had to tune in. While there’s an interesting cast of characters on the show, I’ve got to say I’ve never come across any agents like these guys.
Most real estate [...]
I wanted to write some more about routine. I talked about it last week, and got some interesting feedback on that post. I wanted to talk about it on a very practical level. It’s another way that routine could be a bad thing. Remember last week I said there are some situations in life where [...]
No particular topic in my mind but will try to pen down my thoughts (in random order). In the process will try to build some logic and some direction to my thoughts.1. If worship is about God and not about us, why do we hold back when we get together as a body? Doesn’t it make sense that we’d want to give everything we have over to God and do whatever it is that He asks us to do? Doesn’t it make sense that we’d respond to [...]

Boy it's been awhile. Let's see if I still remember how to do this. I spend most of June catching up on things that didn't get done in April or May. I had the chicken pox and pneumonia. However, life didn't stop moving by quickly. I have finished one more course towards my degree, leaving me on my last one. Eight years to do, yet through it all I kept going. It might not sound like much, but
No, Capitol Annex did not get credentials to blog the Republican Party of Texas 2008 Convention. In fact, we didn’t bother to apply. Even if we got them (perhaps in return for a right-leaning site getting credentialed at the TDP Convention?), there isn’t enough anti-nausea medication in the would that would have kept us from repeatedly vomiting all over the convention floor.
We found n
Sadly, I wasn’t able to blog much of the TDP convention on Saturday. Unlike last year when I blogged non-stop, pressing business as one of the seemingly 9.5 million delegates roaming around the Austin Convention Center (motto: “Function in no way inhibits form!”) kept me from the laptop on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. when I was serving as one of the convention chair’s
In yet another sad loss, the Orioles were bested by the Evil Empire 1A, the Boston Red Sox, 9-4. Simply put, Brian Burres got shelled as he was attacked by the Red Sox offense early and often on Sunday. Although Luke Scott homered, Baltimore was undone by J.D. Drew, Manny Ramirez's 501st homer, and the return of rotund Bartolo Colon -- who seemingly was left for dead -- until the Red Sox picked hi

The Red Devils aren't worse than Barcelona but to think that they are better is wrong. We were blessed with the most perfect last 'full' day here we could have asked for. From 9:30 am - 3:00 pm I never left the cabana except to dip my toes in the ocean or take pictures of my husband and kids. The sun, breeze and surf were perfect. So perfect that twice, tears came to my eyes. I love the ocean so.

1. I finally got around to posting a little explanation of the whole "Smeddling Kiss" thing. If you click the "Velma" link in the about me section, it'll take you to the story. I realize that no one will probably notice that up there, but all the changes I'd like to make to this blog are time consuming and I have no time these days. So I whipped up a quickie post and linked to it in a vague and half-assed fashion. Hopefully I'll get to a real re-vamp soon.2. I have a wicked headache tonight. Probably too much pie. Or too much Twitter. Twitter has completely taken over my life. It's scary, but I'm still in the first blush of infatuation, so I'm helpless in the face of all the tweeting going on. Hoops...daaaaammmnnnnn! How did we lose? What happened to my boys? Why UNC...why??? I feel sick to my stomach right now...which is why it took me a couple of days to get my courage up to post this. But anyway...it looks like I was wrong in both games because UCLA is headed to the house too. I had it pictured in my mind...I looked in my crystal ball last week and just knew UNC would face UCLA in NCAA Championship. Instead, we have Kansas and Memphis squaring off. I'm gonna be bold and make ANOTHER prediction and say that Memphis will take this one. I just hope that it doesn't come down to the last seconds and they need free throws to win it. Well, it looks like Candace Parker is my only hope left. Let's see if she can't repeat and lead the Vols to another title. The New 5 Dollar BillIs it ju
I was at a major league basket ball game last night and I began to wonder how much money some of the stadium people made for their work. The jobs were varied from dancers, to cheerleaders, to the girls who squeegee the floor after a throw in.I would think some people would do the work for free where other would definitely want pay. But how much pay?As we were leaving my 17 year old daughter told me that she knows one of the girls who squeegee the floor. The girls make $200 per game and work three games a week. So 4-5 hours work and $200. Hmm, I have over 15 years of business experience, a university degree, advanced post secondary, and a professional designation and the squeegee girl makes $200 a day. Granted she probably has no benefits and the growth potential is limited but that would b

It's been quite a week so far. Some personal updates....My Grandmother passed away peacefully around midnight on Easter Sunday. So, instead of joining any family get-togethers or big dinners... it was a low-key day. We went to visit my Mom and Dad who were just soooo tired (they went to the hospital right after they got the call and never went to bed Sunday). We looked at old pictures of my Grandmother that are going to be used at the service this week, and just talked. The viewing is Wednesday evening, and the funeral on Thursday. I don't look forward to events such as this at all, the whole "open casket" thing is mystifying to me. I can remember every person I ever saw lying in a casket, and it's not a memory that I think of fondly. It's unnerving, and for that reason I have a
I love Rita Hayworth. She embodies the ineluctable allure, fragility and tragedy of mythical figures. Behind the indelible, flaming-haired beauty, there was the customary compromise of Old Hollywood, a complex life and enormous sadness. That's not her singing above, btw - it's China Forbes of Pink Martini, who performed in Massey Hall last week.Rita Hayworth is the mother of Princess Yasmine Aly Agha Khan, President of the Alzheimer's Disease International foundation, and a board member of the Aga Khan Foundation. On a dreary, wet afternoon in Ras-Beirut - the spiritual Manhattan of Lebanon - I found a small exhibit of one (European? American?) artist's hommage to Hayworth. This was more decorative art than anything else, a series of huge paintings of her stunning face, à la Warhol. I tend

I’m not going to bore you with a bunch of statements about what a low-life, pompous ass this jerk is… it seems everyone already knew that. But now that he has resigned from office, I thought I throw out there a few random thoughts on this issue, most of which I haven’t heard much [...]
If I line it all up it's plain as day. Exhausting, but clear.I'm sick of thinking about it.The house is coming along. The studio is almost completely empty, with all the parts for a kitchen sitting in the kitchen space. There is talk of tiling the floor. We don't know what the rental market will produce, but we're going to find out.The main house kitchen is organized, which is no small matter given that the pantry has had to be absorbed. I got rid of things, rearranged, and actually managed to produce some counter space.I know, all of this is fascinating. Fine.Open sail potluck was awesome. Today's FRIDAY! I adore this day. I have some plans for this afternoon, but I need to get some stuff done first, so here are some random thoughts for today - oh, and a couple of new pictures.* I have a clear-cut winner new TV show for this year: Cashmere Mafia. This show is great! I can't even bring myself to watch Lipstick Jungle, which is the same basic show premise. CM is so good that there's no need.* Why do a lot of people (yours truly, included) start off a moderate-to-long story with "So," (So, I was sitting... -- So, I went to...) I catch myself all the time.* A lot of people are what I call "lazy readers." They read the beginning, a bit of the center, and some of the end. This, sometimes, causes problems because you can miss an important and message-changing detail.

Sitting outside Mac’s Brewery on a Monday afternoon enjoying a brew - watching the clouds quickly drift by - “Stand By Me” playing over the stereo - winds whipped up - I’m the luckiest son of a gun - feeling like I pulled off The Great Rock ‘n Roll Swindle (a la The Sex Pistols). Living a dream is absurdly beautiful. Unbelievable. Fantastic. Amazing. “Sweet as” (New Zealand slang). Every day is an adventure - new scenes, sights, characters, emotions. I feel truly alive. Young skateboarders build their skills like I use to do.
Te Papa museum is a stunning architectural sight - with sections of roof echoing the curves of clouds above and waves below. Looks like I’ll finish that pint after all. Brilliant!

The winds of change, they are a blowin’ at Tennessee. And, it’s not the change that many fans were hoping for following a blowout loss at Alabama that left Tennessee with four wins in seven games and in a player’s only meeting. No matter where you come down on the future direction of the program, these coaches and players deserve respect for coming together and finishing the season strong and for ending up in Atlanta. Granted, this team saw three make-able field goals from opposing kicker’s fail to pass through the uprights giving them the opportunity to play for an SEC Title. If South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kentucky all hit game winning field goals Tennessee finishes 6-6. It's a fine line. But, it's a fine line the head coach walked along confidently.
So now Phillip Fulmer will be in a position to drastically change his program and has a chance to be there to see it through. This is a great opportunity for CPF to reinvigorate his program while
A canopy of street signs
Here are various observations on Hong Kong that are probably too short to justify their own posts:
Street signage in Hong Kong for stores are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. They not only extend into the road, but often will cross the meridian and overlap signs from the other side of the street. The effect it to almost cover some streets. At night almost makes Nathan Street (the main shopping street in Kowloon) look like downtown Las Vegas.
There was a great deal of concern over what would happen to Hong Kong after the hand over from the British to China back in 1997. With the exception of a PRC flag flying over a few governmental buildings, I can see nothing that would indicate that this is part of the PRC. In fact, I was very surprised yesterday to see an informational table set up by members of Falun Gong. I saw a similar table in Taiwan, but that’s Taiwan.
Hong Kong has a separate currency from China and Macau. The Hong Kong dollar is pegged
A few quick site notes before we get into today's blog. I an effort to re-establish my dominance over the Internet Sports Scene, I'll be pimping my columns to as many outlets as possible over the next few months. There will still be exclusive Boston Sports Rants material posted here (like this soon-to-be-classic), but we're going to be trying to drive traffic here by getting published in other places. Our primary partner in this endeavor is going to be Bleacher Report. I'll be posting at least 2 or 3 of my blogs there a week, depending on the content. As you may or may not know, our RSS feed is also published on Zimbio and every once in a while I repost something on My Fox Boston. If you're looking for the Week 15 NFL Picks you can either scroll down past the end of this entry or click here.Random thoughts while wondering if the Patriots can score 70 points in a blizzard:Frank Gore is one of my favorite NFL players. If you're reading this column you probably agree with me and most educated college football fans that the S.E.C. is the best conference in college football. With four coaches who have National Championships and one who shamefully did not get a shot though his 2004 Auburn team was unbeaten, this league is turning into a dog eat dog atmosphere. And no, there is no Mike Vick joke coming. Although, Mike Vick's absurd behavior and the consequences brought forth from those wicked decisions have helped change the conference landscape for the better yet again. The S.E.C. has traded Ed Orgeron for Bobby Petrino. I think Coach O would agree that the conference has improved with that swap.
Bobby Petrino jumps ship again and makes more promises:

Heisman Decision 2007:
The 2007 Heisman Trophy will be awarded to an SEC superstar Saturday at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York. Will it be Arkansas running back Darren McFadden or Florida superman quarterback and cult hero Tim Tebow? Do you go with the best pro prospect or the player with the most productive season in SEC history?
The Heisman Trophy is famous for being awarded to football players who are not the best pro prospect. I’d be willing to wager that as you read that sentence many names popped through your head. Names such as: Jason White, Eric Crouch, Gino Toretta and Andre Ware just to name a few perhaps. There are many more. Darren McFadden is the most explosive player in the country and could be the number one pick in the 2008 NFL Draft depending on the needs of the team picking first. Many NFL teams will undoubtedly be looking for the next Adrian Peterson. It is a copy-cat league after all and running backs tend to have more of an immediate impact than qua
As far as the internets go, the Internet Movie Database is one of the most credible non-news sites (not that those sites are credible - heyo!). However, aside from housing a mini-encyclopedia of every film you never wanted to know that much about, it's also home to probably the most comprehensive ranking system for films.I like their Top 250 (and it's sub-lists) for a number of reasons, chief of which is probably related to my age (31) and the average age of internet denizens (and therefore voters on IMDb). I'm not sure what that average age is, but I'm fairly certain it's significantly less than the average age of an American Film Institute member. The IMDb list, taken as a whole, is both critically and commercially minded, with all of the standards that you might expect to see on a typical critics' Top 10 Best Ever list, but it also includes films that go beyond mere critical success, ones that have had a cultural impact - in short, ones that are loved. Here's their Top 10:1. T
I was just thinking about our family trip to Germany and went back to look at some of the photos we took. When I say we, I mean my wife. I realize, upon reflection, that she is the one always taking the pictures. She is only in about 1 in 50 pictures. Most of the pictures are, understandably, of the farty pants twins. When I discussed this fact with my wife she said it’s fine.
I know it’s not fine. She needs to be documented as much as the rest of us. She is a part of our lives. When I told her this, she specifically told me not to publish ANY pictures of her on “That blog of yours”. My wife is not a reader of my blog.
Does your spouse read your blog if you have one? While I am supported by my wife in my writing endeavors, she is not a follower. She tells me that she doesn’t need to read about what she lives day to day. I have to agree. But I remind her that my blog is just like pictures, only with words. A reminder of little moments in time. Snippets of
As the season has ended, and we are now into November, this portion of the year is when all the ‘hot stove” and free agent talk begins. Right now, from the looks of things, the Orioles are officially into the rebuilding phase. Over the past few weeks, the turnover has been absolutely amazing, and all the activity right now is pointing to not only rebuilding, but a complete makeover and culture change. There has already been sweeping change with the number of coaches and members of the front office staff have been let go or have decided to pursue opportunities with other organizations. This week, Sam Snider and Rudy Arias were let go, probably as further indication that Trembley is cleaning house as well as MacPhail. Listening to various talk shows and doing some light reading, the Orioles are expected to not delve into the free agent market, but rather improve the team by trades. Thus, the next week will be very important as the Orioles head to sunny Orlando, Florida fo

(people who offend just to offend - which really offends me).Aw.aken.us continues to grow in to a larger project the more I work on it. It's coming along well, but slow. The next 3 weeks are going to be ultra-busy. Looking forward to the fruit, but not the amount of work and energy we'll have to expend. In 5 days, I get 2 days off with my bride, Hannah, to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary. Can't wait.I enjoying Twittering. I'm trying to come up with "10 fun ways to use Twitter". We'll see if I ever make it.I've dreamed for quite some time about writing a book... I have a couple of ideas... however, since I'm a nobody... I don't know how I might get it published...And to be political for just split second... this video of Mike Huckabee answering a question concerning Evolution/Creationism is gr
My blogger friend Andi has posted this video clip on her blog. It has nothing to do with art, but everything to do with beauty - more accurately, the contemporary twisted perception of it.http://thethinksithink.blogspot.com/2007/10/real-beauty.htmlWhether you are a mother or a father with young girls, a young woman yourself, or neither, don't think that the crassness of the beauty/fashion/diet industry doesn't affect you personally. It does, if only because it reflects the desperation of a society gone mad with the obscenity of greed and the perversion of reality. More on this subject later. Maybe.
Well, good afternoon everyone! It’s unseasonably warm out and baseball is still in the air in light of the Orioles being out of the hunt. As this week is near a conclusion, it is no surprise to anyone that the team is heading into a new day with the departures of Tom Treblehorn and Jim Duquette. A lot should happen in the next few months, and the course of the team’s future depends on the moves of Andy MacPhail, and if Peter Angelos can somehow change his legacy of a meddling owner to a winning one. In an article on Press Box Online, Craig Heist states the obvious – the Orioles need a new direction. As Trembley and MacPhail move forward, Craig comes up with ideas and states facts we all know with quotes from the staff and officials. He also names Nick Markakis team MVP and gets thoughts from a few players. Stan “the Fan” Charles laments on the end of the season, and succinctly writes what happened this season and the changes that will seemingly by on the way. Alle
I swear, she says my name over and over just to say it. Just to feel the syllables in her mouth. Because every time she says, “Mom!” and I answer:
“Yes?”
I wait and wait for a reply or a question.

Life mostly is about enjoying the journey, not the destination. In fact, there are no destinations. There are just starting points for the next journey.(c) Hal Westhead 2007
3:33 - that's the time I woke up this morning4:15 - that's the time I got out of bed9:30 - that's the time I went to bed last night6 hours of sleep. I don't think this is enough but my eyes just blinks open and my mind won't go back to sleep. I tried - see, I stayed in bed til 4:15 hoping I'd doze back to sleep, but I couldn't. Oh well, I heard Einstein (or Edison) only sleeps for 4 hours. I don't remember where I read that, but maybe some people just don't need much sleep. But then again, I know I am not one of "those" people because I used to have an 8 hour sleep at night and I know that's how much hours of sleep I need. Well, since I am awake, might as well stop talking about sleep and move on...Reading the Bible. I have decided to stop reading some of the books that I am randomly reading and focus on reading the Bible. I have not read the Bible like I used to and I know that's not good. Last night I read through I and II Timothy and thought - wow, it's been ages
Last night we attended a wedding reception. It's a Maui reception of a our dear friend Mikey and her lovely wife Shae. They got married in Oregon, and here on Maui for their honeymoon. Since they have tons of friends here, we had a Maui wedding reception. We've known Mikey since he was a tiny little kid we've seen him grown into a wonderful man of God. I was a bit teary eyed watching their slide show. It's amazing how time flies fast. There was an open "mic" during the reception, open for greeting, encouragement and advice to the couple. I love giving advice and encouragement to young couples. And speaking in front of a large crowd does not intimidate me. But last night, I held back. Maybe it's because I was trying to be considerate and let others do the "talking", others who are closer to the couple than I am.And so I was thinking, what would have I said had I stood out there and grab the microphone to speak to the new and young couple? Last night, my thoughts were these:
I have a meme about using US$1 million and sexy tutor, Miss Loi has done it. I’m still waiting for the rest. So, I should go and place a comment then. I’m so lazy, huh? Jian, you promised to do after you get well.
Understandably, this is a new blog site and .info sites have been used for splogs which means trouble for myself. There are some sites where my comments go through, some just got caught in spam. While I very much wished to link to Wikipedia, with the latest notice about this guy going around editing the information about Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore dollar, and other sites due to the rising fares, perhaps (?) to vent his frustrations, I link to other sites that are less prone to being defaced.
While it’s unfortunate that my site seems to be identified as a spam, I did try to get another domain but it’s been in use for quite some time, I can’t just point a gun at the owner to demand that it be sold to me. I had to settle for this.

At Rosh Hashanah services this evening, something -- I'm not sure what -- caused me to think about whether a native Hebrew speaker reads the prayers in Hebrew or English. Lucky for me, I was sitting next to such a person, and I got to ask. This progressed to me asking whether she translated from one to the other in her head, which language she thinks in, which language she dreams in, and whether she feels herself shifting between languages. It was an interesting conversation, although maybe we should have been concentrating on the praying, all things considered.
As usual, I feel bored today so I snagged this tag from Chikai's blog. This Moment: Bored...Your Shoes: My black sandals. It's comfortable to wear as of now!Craving:...
1. The other day I stopped by Ben Franklin to pick-up something. Guess what? They already have their Christmas items out! What? Christmas already? It's just August! We still have Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving to come ...2. Family Night. Why is it so hard to have a consistent "family night"? After the Tweens Camp several months ago, we started doing family nights on Mondays. It was fun - the kids look forward to it. We only lasted 3 weeks though. The busyness crept. Schedule got messed up. Oh, we really need to get this family time back.3. The H Word. You know how for a kid swear words are a no no, so they use the initial to refer to it when they need to use it in a sentence? Like "s" word for sh*t, and "f" word for "f*ck"? Well, my son just added to the taboo words and have elevated (actually degraded) "homework" into the "h" word. The H word is bad. It's evil. It's the enemy. He does not like the word homework. It's the H word.4. There are about four (4) bo
Kudos of the day go to Raven at Skin Prayers for her flights of fancy. Yum.
Also, Eva (from Nothing Random) is having weight-loss surgery imminently. Please follow her excitement if you can.

So Chris and I are going to the ShadowLane party in September. I hope it's lots of fun... I'm looking forward to seeing people I know, spending time with them, meeting more people. But me, I've
This meme has been spreading around all over multiply and livejournal. And because I feel like I need to have some form of venting out once again, I present you with my own version of this meme.
I modified in such a way that instead of having 20 thoughts or sentiments for 20 different people, I wrote 20 ‘anonymous’ thoughts that can be directed to less that 20 people. Two or three statements there can be directed to a single person, while some are sole statements for one person. It’s up to you guys if you think it’s for you or not.
I miss our childhood days. I miss having our own worlds devoid of bitterness, heartbreak, and sadness. Let’s try to relive those someday.
I wish you could be less stubborn, and that you’ll have it in you to finally trust me wholeheartedly.
You have always been an inspiring pillar of strength all my life. Thank you.
Let go of your insecurities. You’re only making yourself uglier. Please.
I hope you’ll final
Ron Paul recently appeared on the Mike Gallagher radio show, during which Mr. Gallagher asked him whether he thought most of his support was coming from those who believe the assertion that 9/11 was a government conspiracy. It's an absurd claim that Paul has never come close to making, so the latent insinuation embedded in the question is very strange. Paul isn't accusing anyone of wanting attacks to happen or of actually "staging" them. What he has said in essence is that there is a propensity for politicians and military leaders to see what they want to see and to capitalize on incidents - real or perceived - after the fact to ratchet up to larger goals. Giuliani didn't stage 9-11 but "America's Mayor" has certainly taken advantage of it to the fullest extent.I was among those who, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, found some currency in the idea that we should go into Iraq if they had a bomb and could be dealing with al-Qaeda. Neither turned out to be true, and senior official
Julia let me paint her fingernails today! I mean, ! and ! I painted them pink and shimmery. There was a whole lot of squealing and giggling. I love having a little girl!
Immediately after having her dainty little hands carefully and lovingly painted, she went and did this:
And ended up looking like this:
She’s also begun to dress herself and insists on choosing her own outfits. More on this later. Maybe.
Yesterday, as I stood in the cheese section of the IGA discussing the advantages of the four cheese blend versus regular mozarella with myself, I was overcome by the song “I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again” wafting gently from the loudspeaker. I declared, “Damn, that Dionne Warwick can sing,” and was just beginning to belt out the chorus with my psychic friend when I turned and made eye contact with a woman who appeared absolutely terrified.
She diverted her eyes, blurted out, “I’m sorry” and hauled ass out of
Parenting - this is such a hard task. Because each child is unique, because we cannot totally control our environment, and because we parents are imperfect (really?) - good parenting is a "scary" thing - I mean it's an enormous responsibility, it's an incredible task. Time - why does time fly so quickly? I was looking through old photos to find some "Sowers Photos" to put in the scrapbook I was making for them. It's amazing how our kids have grown as I looked over the photos.More About Time - Why do I always feel like there's so much to do with so little time? I guess I need a crash course to Time Management (really? really!)
I'm still getting a kick out of the Ducks signing Bertuzzi. Especially when Teemu Selanne has not made up his mind about retirement yet. Even so, is Bertuzzi a worthy replacement for the Finnish Flash? Nope. Bert is more like the "Crippled Canadian" in my books. But at the same time I anticipate seeing how he pans out in Anaheim. Hopefully about as good as he did in Detroit. Then we have seen the
