In these types of races you always line up with the bike off and start the bike when the flag drops. I found it interesting that David Knight usually uses the electric starter AND the kick starter to start the bike. This time, however he just used the electric start which simplified things and gave him a better start. He also said that during the first minutes of the race he was hit with a rock in the throat and thought he was out of the race because he couldn't breathe. He pulled back and caught his breathe then continued on to win the event!
