A Monroe weight clinic has been shut down and the head doctor accused of overprescribing a popular weight loss drug. Patients say it's hard to believe. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - FBI agents have seized nearly $2 million in cash from a Las Vegas warehouse owned by illusionist David Copperfield, local media reports said on Thursday.The agents also took a computer hard drive and a memory chip from a digital camera system during Wednesday's late-night operation. The reports said the raid stems from an investigation in Seattle."We understand there is an investigation, are in touch with the investigators, and are respecting the confidentiality of the investigation," Copperfield's attorney David Chesnoff said in a statement cited by Las Vegas broadcasters.The local CBS affiliate KLAS-TV quoted a source as saying the cash was stashed in a safe and that agents took the cash.Copperfield, 51, whose real name is David Kotkin, is famed for stunts such as making the Statue of Liberty disappear and walking through the Great Wall of China. The FBI raided the Alaska home of Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). The Anchorage Daily News reports agents were at the home for over 10 hours and took away "undisclosed items from inside" as well as "pictures and videos." The raid is part of a widening corruption investigation on whether or not Stevens took bribes from an oil services company CEO who admitted to bribing Alaska politicians.Stevens is the longest serving Republican Senator ever, having represented Alaska in the US Senate since 1968. He was President pro tempore in the Republican majority, making him third in line for the Presidency between 2003 and 2007. Appointed to the Senate upon the death of Bob Bartlet (D-Alaska), he was first elected in a special election in 1970 and reelected ever since, never gaining less than 67% of the vote. He's up for reelection next year and has indicted he plans to run.

The Orange County Register reports that dozens of investigators from the Orange police and the county DA’s office raided a local Nissan dealership on Monday. According to the report, Douglas Nissan stands accused of using stolen pay stubs, driver licenses and social security numbers to secure car loans. “There may have been thousands of fraudulent loans processed with the stolen identities of thousands of unsuspecting people," the Chief prosecutor explained at a press conference held in front of the dealership.
