Wahida Rahman songs.By: Supriya Chatterji.Wahida Rahman, the dynamic actress of the golden age of bollywood films had given elegant lips on legendary songs during the 50s, 60s and 70s. She had given lips in mostly the songs sung by Geeta Dutt and Lata Mangeshkar as they contributed the most in her films. The songs in the film Pyaasa, titled “jane kya maine kaha” composed by SD Burman and sung by Geeta Dutt is worth mentioning. Similarly Geeta Dutt’s legendary song “waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam” in the film Kagaz Ka Phool, composed by SD Burman became a landmark hit. The lyric of the song was also very meaningful. The song and the film conveyed the eternal message that performers in films are remembered as long as their films become hits, but after a period of time their contribu

A report in a section of the press stating that Amitabh Bachchan would be playing the role of Bangladesh’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has the mega-star completely stumped, puzzled, and amused."I’ve no idea what all this is about. Lots of media persons have been calling since yesterday. I can’t say where and how this report originated from. But it is not true," said the Big B from London on Saturday morning just before he boarded his flight back to Mumbai. Not only does the report state with absolute authority that the Big B plays Mujbir Rahman, it also quotes the film’s producer as saying that the rest of the Bachchan clan, Abhishek and Aishwarya, will also feature in this bio-pic. Continues the Big B, "I’ve no clue about this. There&

It has been named "Global Music" and is the first homegrown orchestra."I kept hearing someone is setting up an orchestra and waited for seven long years for someone else to set up an orchestra like the New York, London or Budapest Philharmonic in India. But it did not happen", Rahman, whose recent works include music for "Guru" and "Jodhaa Akbar", told the media here."Whenever I want to compose for an orchestra, I have to go to London or Budapest," he complained. The music maestro announced setting up of the orchestra along with the launch of his KM Conservatory, a music school for professional
There must be something about this Nasi Kandar stall, but everytime I come by, it won't disappoint me unless they are closed la. It was just that I had brought a client over to check out this place, since they can't accompany me to eat at Kin Kin, I sold him the idea of eating at Kudu's.I remember the last time I posted a review about this place, I was assured by someone , that the food is priced reasonably. After my experience at Pelita KLCC, Rm110 for an unedible Fish head, I am scared liao. Anyways, not to be side tracked, I picked up a Duck Varuval dish, one fried fish and some bean sprouts and some lady's finger. As usual I'd drench my rice with mixed gravy. My friend on the other hand, went for a squid Curry, a fish and some lady's fingers. Its nice, and its a must try place.

I never knew this place is called Nasi Kandar Abdul bin Kudu, but I knew all my life that this place serves great Nasi Kandar. My first visit over here was probably , when I was in secondary school, and my uncle was the one person who brought me here. And this time around, I brought two of my colleagues to come eat. One Malay fler, from Kelantan, who usually very reluctantly touch Indian food , and a chinese fler who eat almost anything. This restaurant is no looker, but I must say, since Abdul Kudu's daughters took over, the place has looked much brighter and noticeably much cleaner than before. Business is not as brisk as before. I remembered long lines, people queuing up to get their nasi kandar.Having been going round eating, quite a bit of mutton and beef, this time I opted for fried chicken and vegetables. I also asked for kuah campur. Its really a good mix of kuah they give, but the server is careful not to drench the rice, unlike some of those guys in Pelita KLCC do.I find
In time for my return from India, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to explore world music, starting with Indian music. When I was leaving to India, a friend of mine asked me to get some instrumental Indian music. Granted, this type of oriental music can be really soothing at times.
One of my training instructors was a music lover. He used to play music on his laptop until everybody gathered in the morning. I asked him once if he could recommend any such type of music. I was looking specifically for instrumental music, because as far as Indian singing is concerned:
I don’t understand a word of it.
It annoys the hell out of me (I’m talking specifically about those high-pitched female Indian vocalists).
So in the last day of training, the trainer played a beautiful composition that took my breath away. I asked him about the artist and he said it was A. R. Rahman, an Indian internationally renowned musician, best known for composing film scores and soundtracks.
The RAHMAN Theory, a theory that supposedly predicts who will be the next Prime Minister of Malaysia. This theory, according to some sources started to brew around the time when Tun Mahathir went into office in the 80's. Basically, the word R.A.H.M.A.N is the acronym of the Malaysian Prime Minister's name.R - Abdul RahmanA - Abdul RazakH - Hussein OnnM - Mahathir MohamadA - Abdullah Ahmad BadawiEveryone thought it was Anwar Ibrahim that will succeed Mahathir. When Mahathir sack Anwar Ibrahim, he managed to get someone else with the initial 'A' to replace him - Spooky!N - Najib Tun Razak? If we are to believe the RAHMAN Theory - is Najib Tun Razak the next Malaysian Prime Minister? I guess time will tell

Hyderabad, June 13 (IANS) This week composer Mani Sharma’s songs are doing better than A.R. Rahman’s tracks for “Sivaji”.
The top five Telugu albums are:
1. “Dubai Seenu” - Director: Srinu Vytla. Top composer Mani Sharma’s “Kol kol” and “Kanya raasi” are very popular this week. But in the long run the album’s success will largely depend on box-office performance of the film.
2. “Sivaji” - Director: Shankar. The album sale is banking on pre-release hype and A.R. Rahman’s album is yet to top the audio charts. “Style style” and “Sahara” are catchy numbers.
3. “Aduvari Matalaku Arthale Verule” - Director: Sri Raghavan. Composer Yuvan Shankar Raj’s songs “Naa manasuki” and “O baby” have turned this otherwise comedy into a touching love story.
4. “Sathyabhama”- Director: Sri Hari Nanu. After the record-breaking hit “Des
Once upon a time, in a mystical land called India, a mughal emperor called Shah Jahan lived with his beloved beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. Shahbuddin Mohammed Shah Jahan (also spelled Shah Jehan, Shahjehan. Persian: شاه جهان), January 5, 1592 – January 22, 1666) was the ruler of the Mughal Empire in the Indian Subcontinent from 1628 until 1658. The name Shah Jahan comes from Persian meaning “King of the World.” He was the fifth Mughal ruler after Babur, Humayun, Akbar, and Jahangir. The Mugal King did not marry his queen just for her beauty. She was intelligent and clever too. A smart choice by the king who had other wives too, most of them who were just “dumb gals”. There was no insurance that their wedding would last - after all, he was Emperor of India. For kings like these marriages were just another entertainment. No favours could be expected just by the wedding ring on her finger. But the bond was strong - the love and passion was stronger than what we see in t

Does a potential bout with Wladimir Klitschko (48-3, 43 KO’s), the IBF heavyweight champion, and the often troubled Hasim Rahman (41-6-2, 33 KO’s) intrigue you? If so, that’s what’s being bandied about in the latest boxing news grapevine, coming from Dan Rafael from ESPN. Apparently, reps from the Klitschko brothers have spoken to Top Rank, Rahman’s promotional outfit, about a potential fight in the fall. Ideally, Wladimir Klitschko would prefer to fight for more…
