According to Wikipedia by 1968 all forms of segregation had declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court . That's great, now everyone can go to the same schools, stores, drinking fountains and restaurants to name a few. The coloreds and the whites are finally united as one big happy family and the color of your skin doesn't determine who you will become and what you can do with your life.
Prior to those times the United States Constitution openly declared We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Both black and white parents said other factors – the quality of a school, a school’s proximity to their home and the ability of siblings to attend school together – are more important than racial diversity.
The Times polled 604 Pinellas parents this week as the School Board prepares to put the finishing touches on a new student assignment plan. The plan gives families the chance to attend their neighborhood schools, and will result in some schools being predominantly black for the first time in more than three decades.

A teacher in the Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) District has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against the elementary school where she works. This comes right after a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision involving the same school district over similar charges.

A study co-authored by Professor of Community Health Vincent Mor found evidence of widespread racial segregation among U.S. nursing homes and a correlation between segregation and disparities in quality of care, particularly for blacks.Published in the latest issue of Health Affairs, the study found segregation was most acute in Midwest nursing home facilities and generally reflected patterns of residential segregation. Mor, chair of the community health department, served as the study's principal investigator."This study is one of the first to draw from inter-facility databases of resident information to address questions of disparity of care between nursing homes in a given metropolitan area," Mor said. I am a bleeding heart liberal, a Bobby Kennedy, George McGovern Democrat. I believe in affirmative action. I truly feel that African Americans got a raw deal in this country until the mid 1960’s and that affirmative action was a necessity to make the playing field a little more even. I am pro-busing, I was aghast a few weeks ago when the United States Supreme Court basically overruled Brown vs The Board of Education. I think without forced integration our school systems would be even worse than they currently are, especially for people of color. I grew up in a multi-ethnic, multi-racial neighborhood as a child, and truly see people as individuals not as Black, Brown, Yellow, or White.

Parents want meatless menu for Muslim child
MONTREAL (CP) — The ongoing debate in Quebec over accommodating religious minorities has flared up again over a day-care lunch menu.
A day-care centre in the east end of Montreal is taking issue with a human rights commission ruling suggesting it not serve meat to a Muslim child, in accordance with Islamic dietary rules.
The mother of a Lakota student said she wants the white Independence Elementary principal fired after he acknowledged that her African-American son suffered discrimination from white classmates, and that his own racial attitude led to a too-lenient punishment.In the March 30 letter obtained Monday by The Enquirer, Principal Greg Finke apologized to Toshimi Scott and took "full responsibility" for the punishment.Finke, in his letter, stated that he was "embarrassed" after reflecting "on my personal beliefs and attitudes toward race and race relations" and his "blatant ignorance" regarding racial discrimination.This from the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Harold Ford Jr., former Rep. and a friend of Senator Barack Obama, told Obama that no matter what the racial politics, he should not be afraid take his campaign anywhere he wants to in this country. Last fall Harold Ford lost a close race to be the first black senator in the Tennessee. Some say the reason for the loss was due to racial politics, but Ford said that the reason was because his rival spent his own money and other factors is what contributed to his loss.

Who would've thought Kramer was racist? The things he said during his comedy show are RIDIC & his apology leaves alot to be desired. During his Letterman Apology when asked what he would've said if the heckler would have been Caucasian or another race....he creatively danced around the question. He repeatedly referred to African Americans as as Afro-Americans.
