Xtreme Terrain Festival 2008 - Sprint Duathlon - Race Report
It is all over again ... On Saturday I participated in my first Duathlon with a Mountain Bike (my old yellow banger). I opted in to take part in the Sprint Duathlon which is a 5K run, 12K MTB and another 2K run. The event is held near the Gibraltar barracks in Hawley lake in Camberley. The course track is hilly, muddy, wet and with overgrowing branches. This made the course track Xtreme and for me

Big Cow - Emberton County Park Sprint Triathlon - Race Report
We just returned from the Big Cow Sprint triathlon in Olney and I'm pleased with the results. At this moment I'm feeling a little bit too tired to write up a whole race report but I will in the next 24 hours. In summary I ended up 3 minutes worse then expected in 1:28, the official times are not published yet and I'm fearing that my bike and run results are not recorded.  I was out of course on

Nokia Royal Windsor Triathlon 2008 -Race Report
Well the Nokia Royal Windosor triathlon was the first Sprint Triathlon for me and hopefully many to follow. The build up to the event went along with some nerves days before, the nerves were mainly caused because of the problems I have been having with my left leg. The race was in a great race venue, beautiful scenery along the biking track and running next to the castle of the Queen of England,

FW Komen Race, Part II: Race report
This is the elevation chart for the race I ran yesterday, the Fort Worth Komen 5K Race for the Cure. You can see the big hill I blogged about. At about 2.5 miles in, this thing hits you. You turn off of Forest Park Boulevard onto Weatherford Street. At this point in the race yesterday, I was averaging a 6:45 mile pace. Well on my way to setting a 5K pr.Then I hit this hill. It was .58 miles. Elevation, according to my Garmin Forerunner 305, was 68 feet. So basically, I had to climb a five-story building. (Didn't Batman need to pull himself up a rope to do this kind of thing?)It took me 4:21 to get up this hill, a 7:48 pace. My heart rate soared from 90 to 95 percent max. My total minute-per-mile pace slowed from 6:45 to 7:04.I sprinted the rest of the way in to shave a few seconds off my to

Komen 5K Race for the Cure: Race Report
My time: 21:56Not a pr, but with the last 3/4 of a mile uphill, I feel pretty good about what I did. And the time is better than the last three 5ks I've done, and those were all flat courses.I'll write a more detailed report later, but here are the splits...1: 6:45 (was feeling good)2: 6:55 (pacing myself for the hill to come)3: 7:31 (ok. this hill _ on Weatherford Street _ is ridiculous)3.13 :45 (Sprinted in and tried not to throw up on the slow person cutting the chip off my shoe).More later....

Race Report - Felipe stakes his claim
In the overall scheme of things, the Turkish Grand Prix was not a great race and it will not be remembered fondly by anyone (except perhaps the Massa Family). The crowd was small and the action sparse and while Felipe Massa drove a perfect race, most of the attention was still centred on the rivalry [...]

      25K Bulldog Trail Race Report
This local trail race was really easy to get to, it turned out to be about 1hr15min drive from my house. The race started in Malibu Creek State Park, the course offered great views of the ocean, and some interesting rock formation. I was also told parts of the TV Series M*A*S*H where filmed here... Although that Hit TV show series was before my time, I took their word for it.I had a fantastic time with my race running partner Kim French. We have not ran together since Lake Hodges. She has been plagued with some foot problems and took several months off. But we pretty much picked up where we left off... I feel real fortunate to have running partner like Kim, I think we are a great team, it really felt like we were in synch... our breathing patterns were the same, and other aches and pains. I officially signed up for the 25K, and Kim registered for the 50K, which is a second loop of the first loop. Months ago when I signed up I knew Aug was typically a very Hot month, so I wimped out a

Race Report - Rolling the dice in Monte Carlo
Gambling will only get you so far. It is nice to win but a lot of the time luck has nothing to do with it. You win by working at it, doing the homework and not because the cards fell in your favour. Monaco is a city built on a casino, on the foundation that [...]

      Los Angeles 5K Race Report
Recap: LA 5K March 4, 2007 Leading up to the race, was an interesting week. First the whole family had the flu, leading up to the race I was in my third day of recovery. Nonetheless I still felt like it was in my chest. On Friday March 2nd, I was invited to attend a group dinner at Lucianos in Dana Point. The guest speaker was Dave Scott. Dave Scott is a 6 time Ironman Champion, he is an engaging speaker. He had a little talk on Success in sports, I found it to be very informative and motivating. Dave was in down for the weekend for a triathlon clinic for the Orange County Triathlon Club. On Saturday March 3rd, I participated in a group trail run with my fellow Orange County Trail Runners. The run was located in Aliso Woods which included a 11mile loop. We had a great turn out, 17 trail runners were in attendance. The purpose of the trail run for me was to get a good idea of how the legs felt. The leg turnover was not there, and my coughing persisted turning the run. On Sunda

Race Report Card 2006: D- (Maybe)
Well it’s officially the end of Black History Month, a contrived attempt at helping white folk realize that the world doesn’t revolve around them. I doubt we were any more successful at it this past year than when they got rid of slavery. I’m a fan of Black History Month, because I’m a fan of being intentional. I say this a lot in the community we live in, that we need to intentionally carve out time and space for things to occur, until they become a natural part of what we do. Until the integration and celebration of Black History is as much a part of the education of every student as any sort of euro-centric history, until that is true, there will be a need for Black History Month. It was suggested on a podcast I was listening to recently that Black History Month should serve as an assessment time, as a chance to give our society a report card on how we’ve done in the past year as it relates to racial integration and race relations, in our current and h
