On Care 2 Petition Site (Read my post about it), I recently found a great video and petition. It is a fun little video by Ranger Rick the Raccoon on how you can do something about climate change. Sign the very popular petition as well. The petition is for a vote on a bipartisan bill which the U.S. Senate will cote on early this June. The Climate Security Act would be the biggest step ever taken

So I’m sitting on my back porch laying back chilling with one hell of a buzz going… I feel something furry rub up against my right leg so I figure it’s one of the neighbors cats, I reach down and start petting it while I smoke my cigarette… A good 5 minutes went by while [...]

Don and I were able to go 77 miles, but then called it for a variety of reasons, namely the six-inch steps we were reduced to taking weren't going to get us across the finish line in the required 30 hours. So at the last aid station, prior to the start/finish area, we turned in our chips and got a ride back in. Bummer.Prior week strata-ma-gizingThe weekend prior to the race was an easy run weekend with only a short jog on Saturday morning. Just enough of a run to keep us from stiffening up, but not so much as to use up much energy. The taper was in full effect. By this time, it's far too late to make any inroads into gre

Around 2:30 a.m. Monday, I woke to a loud scraping noise outside my window. The sound was followed by a loud hissing. I jumped from the bed and peeled back the blinds. Nothing. I almost returned to bed when I heard the sound repeat … only this time louder.

It seems everything on campus that had food was closed. I kept missing the caf and the Knights Court was closed all weekend. What the check is up with that? Christine’s is always closed on weekends.
Cristina and I ended up having to go out to eat.
Oh and I went to see Beowulf with Eric in 3D. It was awsome! I loved it. We saw raccoons! There was a family of them and the baby was behind me peaking out from behind a box curious about me and Eric who were equally as curious. There was like three or four. It was so cool. They were hanging out around the green center.
Lynn is perfect for nature lovers. You might have to look for it but its there. Fish, birds, raccoons, turtles, etc. Just open your eyes and look around Lynn.
Being a biology major helps. Professor Villa makes it easy to see all the natural wonders around Lynn and Boca.
Ok, so today has been really yucky outside... blowing wind, rain, ick ick ick! No one in their right mind wants to venture out today and that means no customers. So it has been really slow here in the shop. I was at a loss for things to include in todays blog. Then I started thinking about weather and animals that like to come in from the cold. This thought sparked some wonderful stories and memories and well I just figured I would talk about those.
First of all comes the raccoons. Raccoons are fascinating characters. They have hands just like us and they use them to pick up bowls of water and food and to catch things. They love cats (very edible you know) and they are curious! Troublesome and can be quite expensive(as my mom found out!) Let me explain that my mom is the original cat woman. She feeds every stray cat that comes visiting and then takes them to the vet for shots and spaying or neutering. She now feeds about 20 cats. She does not house them since many are somewhat fer
This is really amusing. A raccoon sneaks inside your house, steals the carpet and sneaks out. After watching this video I remembered a funny FRIENDS episode where Joey keeps mentioning Raccoon whenever he needs to give an excuse. That was truly hilarious. Joey: Somebody opened the door to the coffee house and a raccoon camerunning in, went straight for your muffin and I said "Hey don't eatthat-that's Phoebe's" and he said.. He said.. "Joey you stink atlying." What am I going to do? :)

Paris Hilton has revealed her father Rick sparked her interest in odd animals - he grew up with a raccoon as a pet! Hilton owns a menagerie of bizarre pets - including a chinchilla and a raccoon-like kinkajou - and she suggests her love of zoo-life comes from her dad.She says, "My dad has got a pet raccoon. He found it when it was a little baby in his ranch and he raised it."If you get to find them when they're in the nest and still as babies they'll open their eyes to you at first and they'll think you're their mother".Her raccoon knowledge came in handy on the set of Hilton's new film, Repo! A Genetic Opera, when the set was overrun by the creatures.Director Darren Lynn Bousman explains, "We had a family of raccoons on the set. We came back from lunch and they were sitting on chairs and on the actual monitors."I wanted to hug them but Paris pointed out they had rabies, so I ran away".Meanwhile, Paris' pet collection keeps growing and growing - because her randy tea cup chihuahu
I was driving in my car and listening to the local evangelical radio station. Someone was interviewing a Muslim, a foreign born Arab, who had converted to Christianity. This fellow had been responsible for running a prison mosque and apparently had quite a dramatic conversion experience.
He talked of a vision in which he saw all the world’s sin and suffering. This image drove him to tears and drove him to Christ as well. I am ashamed to say that at this point I became skeptical. His story sounded so melodramatic that I suspected that it was contrived. Besides, his vision seemed exaggerated - the sort one reserved for Christ or the saints.
Rounding a bend I confronted a grisly sight. Strewn across the middle of the road lay a gruesome mess, a small animal cut exactly in two, the double yellow lines of the highway running perfectly between the bloody red halves of the poor creature. It was, or had been , a raccoon, the distinctive striped tail and masked eyes quite visible

Coming home from work last night I saw a raccoon on Ocean Parkway between church and caton. It was on the lawn of one the buildings. It was squeezing through a gate when I first saw it and I thought 'man that's a chubby cat'. Then it started walking on the grass, it was 3 in the morning and I was tired so at first I thought it was a skunk cause the dark eye area of the raccoon was throwing me off while I was trying to recognize which cat around the building this was. It took about 2 seconds to realize this was actually a raccoon. The raccoon walked the building lawn and then climbed the tree.I blame the kensington hipsters for attracting raccoons.
I have a new enemy on the island. He’s furry, masked and smelly. No, not my husband! He doesn’t have a mask.
I have only myself to blame. I stupidly put out suet by our bird feeder hanging off the deck. Why? Well, it was during that cold spell, and I thought the birds could use the extra fat. Guess who got the extra fat? Not a bird. Ever since, a raccoon or two or three has been snacking at the bird feeder. Flexible bugger, adding millet and sunflower seeds to the rib bones and fruit roll-up wrappers menu originating from our trash cans. How do we get rid of them? Who are their natural predators and where do we get one? And would it be wrong to shoot them with a pistol?
Added concern: a generation of raccoons acquiring new skills as a result of eating from bird feeders. One morning that pole was bent waaay down, and I can only assume that raccoon attempted a trapeze act off our second story deck as a finale to dinner. Just what we need, circus raccoons.
