I'd just like to have, say, a general half hour range that she might be arriving, at least most days.So yesterday, with El Jefe's help, we had a long discussion in which he assured her that we would never dock her pay if she was here waiting for us and that La Gringa didn't sleep in just to teach her a lesson. After much talk, finally we pinned her down and Nora said 8:00 a.m. would be good for her and how late would she have to work to get the full pay if she came at 8:00? I said she would need to work until 4:30 p.m. with half an hour for lunch.

Happy December 1st! We had a super festive day for the first of December. We packed up the kids and went to my twin club’s Christmas party (awfully early in the season, but it got people in a Christmassey mood!) It was a fun afternoon. After that, we picked up Paul’s mom, since we were in the neighborhood, and we all went out and ate Chinese food. Buuuuurp. Been a long time since I’ve had Mongolian barbecue! For the record I didn’t get to bed before midnight last night even though I had planned to. It is not too often that an album comes along this late in the year and reminds me why I have yet to compile my best of 2007 list yet. But that is just what happened with the debut album from Frightened Rabbit. In some ways, the album is not new at all, it did see a release overseas over a year ago and even got a bit of praise here in the states early in 2007 though it was available only as an import. I got the good word about Frightened Rabbit from a fellow music blogger, at Catbirdseat. (who was 1 year ahead on these dudes) At the time, I only accessed a song or two from their album, The Greys, but really enjoyed it and added it to an ever growing list of albums on import that I would like to own, but figured would never make their way to the states. Well that all changed recently when Frightened Rabbit was signed to FatCat Records here in the US and their album saw a release this fall. So, the fresh sounds of this album and the consistent overall flavor are really impressive.

This sadly looking rabbit is named Mesousa - he has a serious case of depression (Prozac anyone?) and comes from the Japanese series Pani Poni Dash! (ぱにぽにだっしゅ!), which focuses on parodies, satires, and comedy with regards to both Japanese and American pop-culture (internet, anime, gaming). The story centers around "Becky", an 11 year-old child prodigy / mathematics teacher and the antics of her class. Mesousa is Becky's companion and is there primarily as a sacrificial victim to the series' slapstick comedy. The series started out as a manga and later on as anime, it was published by Square Enix and created by Hekiru Hikawa. Hey, it’s my mom’s birthday. Happy birthday, mom! (She doesn’t read this. She wouldn’t even have a clue how to find the internet.) My mom was actually born on Halloween night, just a few minutes past midnight. When I was little, she and my dad threw CRAZY elaborate Halloween parties in their totally 70s basement rec room, complete with whiskey barrel furniture and smoked glass mirrors and pachinko machine. This is a chocolate rabbit sculpture which my second brother had made. He gave it to the children to eat last month when he sent Valerie and Vanessa to my house for tuition. I did not eat it. But the four children in the house broke it up and they shared it. Valerie is the eldest and I asked her to cut for the children. But in the end, everything broke into pieces. It was hollow inside. The children thought it was solid inside. They have a good time eating the chocolate. My brother is so clever!

Previously featured in three short films (two of which won Oscars), Curse was their major motion picture debut. This time the duo of nutty inventor and trusty sidekick dog get involved in their biggest adventure yet when they go against a supernatural bunny and the swath of destruction he creates in a small town.There is so much to love about this movie that was one of my favorites from two years ago. The characters are great and well-drawn, the animation is crisp and the script is very funny. I bet the title of this post excites you!? Well calm down... The 2010 Rabbit seems to be no different from the 2006 models. Of course except some minor design changes, a sligh "make-up" if you will. Front end might be a little different and things like the size of the doors... It will most likely keep carrying the 5 cylinder 2.5L engine or even more popular 4 cylinder engine for fuel economy reasons - which might be a downgdrade for allready very modest 150hp (170 in 2007 models). If 2009 Diesel Jetta will sell on North American market, the new 2010 Rabbit MIGHT get a Diesel engine as an option - but non of it has been confirmed be Volkswagen AG.
