      Metal Gear Awesome: A Retrospective
With the imminent release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots tomorrow, I thought it would be interesting to provide a retrospective (and reminiscence) for those of you geeks out there who are unfamiliar with this long-standing video game franchise.

      MGS Retrospective: Part 3
As has been pointed out to me, there are several main characters in the Metal Gear saga that are pretty damn important that I haven’t discussed yet, and since next week has the plot as the focus, it would appear that they would fall by the wayside.... Right up to launching Sons of Liberty in North America, Solid Snake was billed as the star once more, with Konami even going so far as to air comm

The Star Wars Retrospective: Episode II
Filed under: Culture If you've got 23 minutes to kill and a hankering for some Star Wars video game adaptation history this Sunday morning, we highly suggest securely fastening your lookin' balls onto the second installment in GameTrailers' Star Wars Retrospective. After the first episode's focus on the primitive origins of the franchise, it's nice to see some games that we've actually played -- including JVC's punishing SNES adaptations of the original trilogy, a LEGO title, and the legendary Star Wars Trilogy Arcade from Sega. It's also nice to see a little more Lando -- considering the next episode's progression to the games based on the newer films, it'll probably be the last we see of him for a while.Read | Permalink | Email this | Co

So, the Ron Dennis rumours have finally hardened up enough that the BBC feels it’s safe to report them. It’s just a shame it reads so much like an obituary.

      Thanksgiving Retrospective Monday
Oh, my lovelies, it is positively wonderful to be back! I hope those of you that celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday had a great one. I got to see the nieces and nephews on both sides of my family (ranging from age 4 to 21), and it warmed the cockles of my heart to see what compassionate, kind-hearted people they were becoming. I had nothing to do with it, but it still made my heart swell with joy. I love each and every one of 'em as if they were my own.But enough of that. Here's a picture of Pa Kent tossing a photo of his adopted son into a blazing fire:I love the unnecessary exposition taking place here with Pa Kent. My nephew, Freddy Kent, is coming tomorrow, Martha! He 's the boy we're adopting! I realize this is for our benefit, but what an awkward recap. Then again, old people talk strangely sometimes. Hand me my sweater! That's the sweater I wear when I'm cold! I bought it at Montgomery Ward's! They used to have a soda fountain where you could get a green river fizz!______

And an evil organization hell-bent on encompassing the creatures’ power. This… is the universe of Metroid!” The story of Samus, from her Chozo upbringing to her battles across the universe all fused together in a timeline and showing spinoffs.

History of Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 4. Franchise landmark Final Fantasy VI tells one of the greatest stories in gaming history
Final Fantasy VI is highly regarded by many gamers to be not only one of the best games of all time, but the greatest entry in the long-running Final Fantasy franchise. FFIV was released in Japan on April 2nd 1994 and was released in the U.S. as Final Fantasy III on October 11th that same year for the Super NES. Final Fantasy VI has appeared on many “Greatest Games of All Time” lists and received high praise from almost all publications that reviewed the title. It was re-released in 1999 as part of the Final Fantasy Anthology Collector’s Package on Playstation, which also included Final Fantasy V on the same disc (FFIV in PAL countries). And most recently it was released on the Game Boy Advance on Feb. 5 earlier this year with enhancements and additions. There are many fun facts about Final Fantasy VI, such as the fact that it was the first game in the series not to be directed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who directed all the previous games. And

History of Metroid retrospective (Part 2). Samus enters 16-bits with Super Metroid and the story continues in Metroid Fusion
Super Metroid is considered by many, myself included (as my Super Metroid review accounts), as one of the greatest games of all time. Doing everything right, it expanded on the first game in an infinite number of ways, just as Super Mario Bros. 3 expanded on the original Super Mario Bros. in ways that, up until it’s release, couldn’t have been dreamed of. In GameTrailer’s Metroid Retrospective Part 2, they take an in-depth look at Samus’ finest hour, and then dive into her most obscure modern adventure, the Game Boy Advance Metroid Fusion.

History of Final Fantasy retrospective (part 3). The Final Fantasy series goes 16-bit
Two of the biggest 16-bit titles of all time were Final Fantasy IV, which came to the U.S. as Final Fantasy III on the Super Nintendo, and Final Fantasy V. Unfortunately for us, FFV didn’t come to the US until 1999, when Square repackaged Final Fantasy V with Final Fantasy VI as “Final Fantasy Anthology” for the PS1. While the series was already a big hit in the States and around the world, Final Fantasy didn’t explode until it’s seventh installment, so many people never got to play these older Final Fantasy’s until their re-releases came on the Playstation and later the Game Boy Advance. In Part 3 of GameTrailer’s Final Fantasy Retrospective (Check out the Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 2 if you missed it), they take an in-depth look at the two 16 bit installments, Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy V, both for the Japanese Super Famicon.

G.I. Joe A Real American Hero Turns 25: A Retrospective
For many, the name G.I. Joe conjures up memories of Kung-Fu Grip, big bearded action figures, and even bigger adventures. For another generation, the name G.I. Joe brings up an entirely different set of memories involving much smaller scale G.I. Joes and their vile enemy, the terrorist organization known as Cobra. One might also fondly remember the cartoons, comic books, videogames, or maybe even the G.I. Joe themed cereal. This second generation of G.I. Joe is commonly referred to as A Real American Hero and it’s marking its twenty-fifth anniversary. As Hasbro commemorates the Joes and their silver anniversary, let’s take a look back G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The 1960s saw the birth of the first G.I. Joe. Joe was a twelve inch tough-as-nails action figure (not a doll) that was the first of its kind. When the line finally died out in 1978 after a highly successful run, Joe was missing in action from store shelves. It wasn’t until the early 80s that G.I. Joe wo

      The Bloodbath: A Retrospective
Right or wrong, I earned my bullish moniker today. Every step of the way during one of the worst trading days of my life, I never stopped wanting to buy stocks. Even with my day trades, I didn't even think about going with the overwhelming flow and shorting a stock. I should have, but I didn't. Instead I kept looking for blow off bottoms for a chance to go long. I did this twice with QLD as the horror raged on, ultimately getting stopped out for manageable, but infuriating losses. I was stopped out of Apple at $85.50 for a 2.3% gain early in the day and then bought it back later at $84.40 just to have it slide even further before the day finally ended. As I wrote earlier, I did the same thing with BLUD but that one rose a bit after I bought it back.I was stopped out of two positions- WLP and WAG- in my core portfolio during the day as well. Long story short, these sales at least freed up some cash to add to my blog portfolio account on March 1st. Overall, like almost everybo
