I’m a big fan of Formula 1. However, I haven’t placed a single bet on it in my life! Trading or betting on motor sports wasn’t in my plans, so I thought to look into this weekend’s race. There is great free info in the internet which helps in our betting. For instance, Lewis Hamilton dominated during the Hockenheim tests, while Kimi Raikkonen holds the lap record since 2004

The Monaco Grand Prix is famous for springing surprise results and Sunday’s race promised to do just that for Force India driver Adrian Sutil. Kimi Raikkonen is convinced Ferrari and McLaren will not have it all their own way this season. The Ferrari driver and reigning world champion thinks there are three teams and six drivers in the running for the two championships. "It's much too early to make any kind of conclusion as to who is who," said Raikkonen. "We will have to wait a few more races to get the picture as to who are the main contenders for the title, but its going to be as tight as it was last year." Lewis Hamilton and Raikkonen have shared the spoils in the first two races this season but the 29-year-old is aware that BMW Sauber are hot on their heels. If Australia was a nightmare for Ferrari, Malaysia was a dream. Kimi Raikkonen toyed initially with polesitting team mate Felipe Massa, took the lead after their first pit stops, and sauntered into the distance to a victory that puts him back into contention for a second world title.Massa blotted his copybook by spinning out of an easy second place on the 31st lap, leaving Robert Kubica to take an excellent runner-up result for BMW Sauber. In the closing laps, though 22 seconds adrift, the Pole set a similar pace to Raikkonen.Heikki Kovalainen was McLaren’s leading runner in a distant third place, a similar distance in arrears. For Lewis Hamilton, it was a race spent playing catch-up. This quote from Kimi Raikkonen, turning up innocuously on the BBC’s motorsport site on the day that was supposed to mark Michael Schumacher’s triumphant return to Jerez, made us smile rather broadly:
“Ferrari will be my last team, I’m not interested in going anywhere else. It suits me. I have two years on my contract and it may not be the last.”
Is it just us - or do you read it and see written on the end, as if in invisible ink: “…so piss off back to Switzerland and stay there, Schumi.”
Perhaps it’s the great big fat dig he gets in further down that encourages this view: “If there is focus on Lewis getting prizes and Michael Schumacher testing with us, or where Fernando Alonso is going, I’m happy. I have a nice quiet life.
“I’ve got the trophy they probably all wanted. I’d rather take the world title than any other prize.”

These were the words that the Ferrari lawyer Nigel Tozzi told a hearing of the governing FIA's independent International Court of Appeal.Would McLaren have appealed if the two drivers' (Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica) disqualification had not been a title decider? I don't think so. Therefore, McLaren does not care at all whether the fuel in Nico's and Robert's tanks were cool or not.I have repeated many times that we, Formula One fans, want to see the battle on the race track and not in courtrooms. It's far more interesting to observe a battle between McLaren and Ferrari drivers rather than the battle between their lawyers.I don't think Hamilton deserves the title. How is he supposed to take the title when for one thing his team has sabotaged Fernando Alonso and now pushes it hard with legal tricks to get the title? Even if the title goes to Hamilton (which in my opinion is very unlikely) it will have worse impact on his future career. Hamilton (as he has once mentioned) is youn

Kimi Raikkonen is known as “The Iceman,” and he more than kept his cool Sunday, winning the Brazilian Grand Prix and capturing the Formula One title in the tightest race for the championship in 21 years.

The Ferrari driver took the lead with 21 laps to go, rallying from third in the drivers’ standings to win the closest title race since 1986. Teammate Felipe Massa was second in Sunday’s race.

Earlier today, Kimi Raikkonen arrived in Tokyo, ready for the Japanese GP, the first of the last three races of the 2007 season. After 30 years the Japanese Grand Prix return to the renovated track at Fuji, a circuit on which few of today’s F1 stars have any experience."Honestly, I’ve seen the track only in the papers," said the Finn. "I read that our car would not adapt perfectly to this kind of track, but I know that our team has worked very hard, so we can be competitive more…

Kimi Raikkonen says he can’t wait to race in front of the tifosi for the first time as he approaches his maiden Italian Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver. In a rare expression of sporting emotion, the Finn has admitted that it will mean a great deal to him personally if he could win his first home grand prix for the Scuderia in front of the raucous Monza crowd. “For me it will be the first time in Monza as a Ferrarista: I have to say that I really feel the difference to the past, I’d also like to more…
(more…)
(more…)
(more…)
Like most of his rivals, Kimi Raikkonen has been making the most of the ’summer holiday’ between the Hungarian and Turkish Grands Prix. However, now, with just six races remaining, comes the serious business of the fight for the 2007 World Championship title(s)"The holidays were as I hoped them to be," said the Ferrari star, currently third in the championship, 20 points adrift of Lewis Hamilton. "I enjoyed the Finnish summer with my family and my best friends. We went to the more…
(more…)
Kimi Raikkonen admitted he was unhappy with the handling of his Ferrari after setting only the sixth fastest time on the opening day of practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Finn wasn’t too concerned at this early stage, however – although he said the team has a lot of work to do overnight.“I am not very happy with the handling of my car in these two sessions and obviously we have a lot to do in order to improve,” he said.“But this is only Friday and there is no point in making a drama out of it as far as qualifying and the race are concerned.“I wasn’t able to get a really clear picture of the performance of the two types of tyre, especially on the first lap, firstly because of traffic and secondly because of that quick short shower.”By contrast, team-mate Felipe Massa was much more upbeat about Ferrari’s competitiveness, despite lapping slightly slower than Raikkonen and going off-course in the closing stages of the afternoon session.“Overall, I am happy with t

RAIKKONEN EXCLUSIVE Kimi Raikkonen's winning streak came to an end at the Nurburgring with another technical failure where we think he should have won quite easily after looking at the fuel loads and the pace at which he was catching alonso mid-stint before the hydraulic problem started to slow him down. But as Ferrari's flying Finn told ITV Sport's Ted Kravitz, he expects to put that all behind him this weekend...Ted Kravitz: The championship is still on, you dropped a load of points at the Nurburgring but you could have won that race couldn't you?Kimi Raikkonen: I am not that pleased, but we didn't lose any more points. It's one race less and we didn't get the points that we wanted but anyhow we a
(more…)
(more…)

Raikkonen's victory on Sunday was typical of modern F1'Formula One sucks' says Tom Ford in his blog on the Top Gear website. He makes an excellent case as to why the rough-and-tumble of touring cars and wild unpredictability of rallying should be preferred to the overly clinical, stage-managed show that is modern F1. Last Sunday's British Grand Prix was a good example. Clearly faster than Hamilton in the opening stages, Raikkonen had no need to make any wild passing maneouvres on the young Brit - just wait until he pitted and then bang in a few fast laps in clear air, emerging comfortably in front of him after his own stop several laps later. It was a scenario that had no doubt been cooked up in the Ferrari motorhome the night before, not in the heat of the moment out on the track. Alonso's brief charge to the front of the field was conducted in a similar manner. And all this on one of the few modern F1 tracks that's actually conducive to passing. Just ask Rubens Barrichello, cir
For a while McLaren looked good, as first polesitter Lewis Hamilton and then world champion Fernando Alonso had spells in the lead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix, but when Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen ran longer than Alonso in the second stint it was all over bar the shouting.By the time the Finn refuelled for the second and last time, on lap 43, he was able to retain the lead with ease and head Alonso home by 2.4 seconds after backing off in the final lap.It was not a great day for Lewis Hamilton in the other McLaren, who struggled throughout to match his main rivals’ pace, and had Felipe Massa not had to start from the pit lane after his Ferrari stalled on the grid in the original start, he would arguably not have been able to maintain his record of finishing on the podium in every Grand Prix he has driven. As it was the Englishman maintained his championship lead by taking a distant third place, and his aspirations were helped a little when Massa, after a strong recovery drive, was
Ferrari's successful start in this season of Formula 1 World Championship was followed by a series of failures. As a Scuderia Ferrari's passionate fan, I was extremely disappointed by this. But Kimi Raikkonen's success at Magny-Cours last week, followed by today's magnificent victory made me happy :) Ferrari showed that it's way too early to consider this season's fate decided. Both last week and this week, Ferrari showed that their cars were equally fast, if not faster than those of the rival McLaren-Mercedes.It was extremely unfortunate that Kimi's teammate Felipe Massa had to start from the last position because of his Ferrari stalling on the grid in the original start. But Massa did a little miracle and finished the 5th. Had he not had to start from the pit lane, Hamilton's podium would have been under a question. All in all, the British driver continues his record by "renting" a place on the podium. While the gap between McLaren and Ferrari is considerable (25 points), the
