False Reports of Jihadists "Quitting" or Abandoning Islamic Supremacism
Another strategic error in the failure to address the ideological basis of Jihad in Islamic supremacism is that the lack of such a strategic debate allows a series of false and misleading reports about Jihadists allegedly "renouncing" jihad or abandoning Islamism. The point of these media reports are to suggest that either (a) there is no jihadist threat, or (b) what threat does exist is diminishi

Quitting smoking and the effects it has on your body
Quitting smoking represents a very important and hard decision in any smoker's life. It isn't an event but a process which implies a number of physical and emotional reactions, as it represents giving up a strong drug such as nicotine. The hardness of the physical symptom depends on the level of addiction the smoker has towards this drug. For example if a smoker lights the cigar before he climbs

      Need Help Quitting Smoking?
Smoking is a pleasurable habit, I use to smoke for many years, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I could quite happily pick a cigarette up right now and it would feel like it's been hand rolled by an angel. Unfortunately we need to think of the greater good and our health, not to mention finances, cigarette's are painfully expensive. I'm going to discuss why it's more of a habit than an addiction and how my experiences will help you overcome your undesired habit.I remember when I started a new job, it was completely different to where I had worked before. The whole day I didn't crave a cigarette. Why? because I hadn't yet developed the connection between an event and smoking. Many people have a smoke with a cup of coffee in the morning, so what happens when they wake up and just have a coffee by it

For the record, I have not quit my job. Things are actually going pretty well there right now so no complaints here. I'm actually writing this post to give a friend of mine a boost. She's unhappy in her job right now so I want to give her a preview of the euphoric joy she'll be feeling soon enough when she's outta there.I've only been "fired" from a job once, and even then they told me the news, it was more of them "letting me go" because it was clear both parties were not happy. When they first said, "today is your last day," I thought I was going to faint. I am a planner, I always have a Plan B. They broke up with me before I could meet someone better and end it with them. So I had a good cry, was escorted out by security and drove home (still crying) to an empty house and a full liquor

However, this is usually not successful. Basically, cold turkey means that you stop smoking cigarettes one day and never have another one. Cold turkey does work for some people, but most people start smoking again within a few days.Unfortunately, part of the addiction is the habit of smoking its

Quitting smoking, then, isn't about smoking -- it's about ourselves. The Trouble With Negative GoalsYour ability to visualize the completion of a goal has a powerful effect on your ability to actually succeed at that goal. The theory is that if you can picture something in your mind with great clarity, you are already more than halfway there. It's like the difference between driving to Seattle with a map in your hand and a red line drawn on the roads you will be using versus simply hopping in the car, driving west and hoping for the best. But what about negative goals? The support was tremendous, and in August I got the nerve to cancel cable and buy an AppleTV. I still wanted to catch a handful of my favorite shows. To my dismay, my TV does not have component video jacks to support AppleTV! I searched for a solution and found a converter that would allow AppleTV to work with RCA jacks, but that added another $150 to the solution. Needless to say, the solution died. Quitting While You’re Ahead
The shelf life of a certain brand of musician is almost absurdly long these days. The number of 60s and 70s era musicians planning “reunions” and playing sold-out arena concerts to baby-boomer audiences is steadily rising. Just this year we’ve seen new large tours from The Police, Led Zeppelin, and Cream along with the usual suspects like The Rolling Stones and Billy Joel. Now, a lot of these concerts are worth the triple-digit ticket prices they command. The Who and Paul McCartney brought the house down when I saw them, and the tours The Rolling Stones put on year after year consitently weigh in as the top-grossing tours in the music industry. Clearly, someone is buying these tickets and getting their money’s worth. However, some reunion tours should simply never happen, mostly because the artists - who may have been great back in the day - are no longer up to the task. The recent “concert” given by Sly Stone in New York is one such example: Then,

      Quitting Journal - 12 Hours
Over the last couple of months I’ve been increasingly distressed over the amount of control my 30 year cigarette habit has had over my life.  I’m not stealing car radios or snatching old ladies’ purses to pay for  my habit, but I have been doing things I’d rather not be doing and thinking about my next smoke way too much.  So when I saw a RiteAid ad yesterday showing they had a Buy One Get One Free deal on nicotine patches, gums and lozenges I jumped all over it.  A quick walk down to the store and $80 later I had a month’s worth of 21mg patches and a gross of 4mg nictotine “mints”. Knowing that the first day is the hardest I continued to smoke throughout the evening and put on my first patch about 9:30pm right before going to bed.  Between the overwhelming nicotine smell, the mental craving to smoke, and the hot flashes I always get when I start with the patch I couldn’t sleep.  But I managed to get a solid 4 hours or so before wa

Take heart, despite how we may feel at the time, it might be the best thing that ever happened to us. So many successful people have the rock bottom story that changed their lives. Whether it is when the creditors started calling, the death of someone close, a sunken business, failed college course, or even the loss of a close friend to a huge mistake; they all hold opportunities for growth. Here are a few ways to that you can benefit and deal with ‘giving up’: Realize that we all make mistakes. Sure some are bigger than others, but it doesn’t matter how we got there. Karl Rove Quitting
So the big news story this morning when I flipped on MSNBC was that Karl Rove is stepping down and will be leaving his position within the Bush administration. The usual “wants to spend more time with his family” was repeated over and over by the anchor person as his reason for leaving. I will be honest; I don’t buy it. I think the Bush administration has done some pretty shady shit during their two terms in the White House. Most of it will probably never see the light of day and we the American public will never know about it. Rove was implicated in the scandal of a CIA operative’s name being leaked and recently he used executive privilege to avoid testifying in front of Congress. This seems like a well timed move to get out before the next scandal hits and allow Rove access to a Presidential pardon for over a year. Quitting on Impulse May Be Smokers' Best Bet
Smokers are often told the best way to nix their habit is to have a game plan, including a quit day and a quit strategy. But could that advice be counterproductive? In a recent study putting that question to the test, smokers who quit spontaneously -- without advance planning -- had a greater chance of succeeding than those who planned ahead. The results, published in the British Medical Journal, seem to flout traditional smoking-cessation guidance. Dr. Michael Siegel, a professor of social and behavioral sciences at Boston University who examines tobacco control policies and smoking behavior, said the findings make a lot of sense."Planned quit attempts are implemented gradually and thus the level of motivation is probably rather low," he said. "But these unplanned, sudden attempts probably reflect some sentinel event or great tension that precipitates a very high level of motivation to quit. And thus these attempts are more successful," he reasoned. Study authors Robert West and Taj S

      That’s It — I’m Quitting
I’ve put a lot of thought into this decision, and I know it’s the right thing to do for myself and for my family. I just can’t take it anymore. I’m not satisfied with what I’m doing and the path I’m going down. This is just something I have to do. It saddens me to say that today will be my last day… at my day job, that is. Had you going there, didn’t I? You thought I was going to quit blogging. It’s funny, because The Strobist made a similar announcement yesterday that he would be taking a one year leave of absence from his day job. But the difference between he and I is that I’ll actually be starting a new job in two weeks. Unfortunately I’m not at a point where I can blog full time, but who knows, maybe some time down the road. I currently work for Ethicon as a medical device engineer in Research and Development here in New Jersey. On July 16th, I’ll be working for Quartus Engineering in San Diego as a mechanica

Thinking of quitting blogging for good?
Let’s face it; despite the enormous number of bloggers in the blogosphere, many abandoned their blogs after some time. Bloggers would normally feel disappointed after realizing that they are not getting the results that they were hoping for after spending so much time on them for 3 continuous months. This is especially true for those who blogs for nothing else but money.I knew about this problem well before I got into blogging in the first place. As someone who has spent years managing eStores to help finance my livelihood, I knew just how difficult it is to market something online. This is what most bloggers failed to understand. Blogging is essentially a part of online marketing. Blogging gives you the opportunity to market yourself and your blogs to the whole wide world. It is not entirely about publishing your thoughts and views on whatever niche topics alone. There is more to blogging than meets the eye.I tried to learn as much as I can about blogging by reading hundreds of How-

      Quitting Smoking
Quitting smoking is considered to be one of the most difficult things to achieve. Many people try to give up a few times before succeeding completely. Smokers generally have both physical and psychological dependencies on cigarettes. The physical attribute can be related to the nicotine cravings that many people have when they have not had a cigarette for a certain period of time. This amount of time differs between various people and how much they smoke. The psychological part can have many influences such as peer pressure or simply the enjoyment of lighting up.If you are thinking about quitting the habit but still have some doubts in your mind then it may be worth considering the effects of smoking cigarettes. Smokers face a greatly increased risk of heart disease, and cancers of lungs, mouth, throat, stomach and pancreas. About half of smokers die of the habit. As well as all of this smoking causes bad smell of clothes and breath and the yellowing of teeth and nails. Smoking is also

      Quitting is not easy
But to actually quit smoking is not easy, because it is an addiction. However there are very many ways and methods that help us to quit smoking for instance we can opt for acupuncture therapy or aromatherapy. We can also opt for non-nicotine cigarettes or go for precise prescription by a doctor. But first and foremost we need to decide in our heart to stop smoking and should also fix a day for the same. Inform your family about your decision and seek for their help and assistance. Throw away all the cigarette packets, ashtrays and lighters. Stop buying any more cigarettes. Rather think of the more useful and better things that you can buy with the money thus saved. Ask the other family members also, who smoke, to stop smoking. Keep yourself busy. Exercise regularly and meditate occasionally. Eat healthy food. After doing all this you may still feel severe urges to smoke. You may also actua

Chris Sligh Considered Quitting Idols Earlier
Its amazing to hear Chris Sligh confessing to wanting to leave the competition prior to his elimination last week. According to the curly haired guy from South Carolina, he only wanted to make it to the Top 10 in order to participate in the American Idol Summer Tour and NOT I quote "winning it"!This similar reason have been given by Mario Vazquez on Season 4 as well but he decided to leave right when he made it to the Top 12. I guess getting tied down to the marketing company is a big deciding factor to these two gentlemen and that in itself says a lot about the competition. I wonder what Kelly Clarkson have to say about all this?

      Panthers are not quitting
So let me get this straight: The hottest team in the East right now is the Florida Panthers?! They are quietly sneaking up on the rest of the mid-lower Eastern Conference pack and are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games and trail the 8th place Hurricanes by 4 points. Ever since the trade deadline on February 24, the Panthers have won 6 and lost 1. What is it about losing the likes of Gary Roberts and Todd Bertuzzi that struck a chord with this team and turned them into winners again? Was it just the awakening in the aftermath? Is it because they now have their backs against the wall and have 'nothing' to lose?In their past 7 games:- Olli Jokinen has 7 goals and 3 assists.- Martin Gelinas has 1 goal and 7 assists.- Chris Gratton has 3 goals and 4 assists.- Stephen Weiss has 3 goals and 4 assists.- Nathan Horton has 4 goals and 1 assist.- In the month of March, Eddie 'The Fossil' Belfour is 3-1, has a 1.99 GAA and a .935 save percentage.Where the hell were these guys all year?
