Is the brick and mortar Antique shop on its way out? I've been seeing very few large buildings out there specializing in store front sales retail Antiques. These shops are moving into private land barns, basements, garages, or smaller shops tied in with an auction hall or Flea Market. We're constantly faced with the question these days: Why are we leasing a building for what usually amounts to about 10% of overall business? Is the store front necessary anymore? I'm pretty much a spring chicken when it comes to the antique market. But, through research and our own experience we've seen the uselessness of the shop. The only thing we're afraid of is whether or not having a shop provides our consignment customers with the reassurance that we are a legitimate business. Comments anyone?

"American Gangster" is a pretentious name for a movie. I suppose the creators intended the film to be a genre reference point like the Brandenburg concertos are the template for Baroque orchestral music, American Gothic is the basic representation of American rural life, and Renault Le Car is the touchstone of French automotive engineering (just kidding). The ultimate gangster film is still Godfather- nobody will repeat lines from American Gangster five years hence- but AG certainly doesn’t disgrace the field.
AG chronicles the life of Frank Lucas, a crime figure who revolutionized drug distribution as much as Walmart revolutionized retail. A foreshadowing of events makes this connection when Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson, Lucas’ boss and mentor, admires the then-novel middleman-less business model of a just-opened discount store. A crime epiphany occurs to Lucas, and he decides to brave the jungles of Cambodia to deal directly with the growers of poppy plants,

It’s July 4th and the height of summer. The weather is warm, humid and occasionally thundery, the peak of flower season in the garden has come and mostly gone and the foods of summer are swelling in the markets at an alarming rate. Alarming because it just seems like there is simply not enough time in the world to enjoy them all before they are gone.
Berries have been falling out of my fridge recently. Two packages of Strawberries for one price and they nearly leap into my cart in their lush, rich red, seed speckled goodness to be sliced and dropped in glee over a bowl of cereal, a scoop of yogurt or best yet, dangled happily over one’s gaping maw, like a baby bird instinctively reacting to the presence of sustenance. Cherries are deep crimson red temptations; I could eat them by handfuls, lips purpled with juice, my fingers stained dark as if I have just been booked for a crime. It is criminal almost, the delight and sweetness of those shiny orbs, so good and perfect f
When I first listened to an entire Led Zeppelin album it was during my grunge rock period when I had become obsessed with the Smashing Pumpkins, especially their heaviest songs. Craving more gut wrenching, fuzzed out guitars I sought what many consider the quintessential heavy metal band: Led Zeppelin.
The only album I could get my hands on was Led Zeppelin IV and although it is considered by some to be their best work, amazingly when I first heard it, I thought it was “too light” for my tastes at the time. Looking back on it now I think my first reactions were kind of funny, especially because Led Zeppelin has since become probably my second favorite band of all time after the Beatles. Their unique hard rock blues and early heavy metal stays with me and I often find myself comparing new bands to the juggernaut that is Led Zeppelin.
Although definitely appreciated for their hard rock work and considered by many to by the grandfathers of heavy metal, Led Zeppelin has a signif
