A woman who had found a stray resembling Willi’s photograph called and invited me over to see the cat. He wasn’t Willi but he was exceptional. Johnson, Quinn and Thomas is amazing combination
Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen did something that he hasn't done, well...in like two years. He drafted a wide receiver in the first round with Calvin Johnson. Yes, we all know Johnson is the best player in the draft. Eh. Yes, we know Johnson has everything you need (6’ 5” and 235 pounds with the speed to run a 4.35 40 yard dash, and a vertical leap of 42 ½ inches) to be the best wide receiver in the NFL for the next ten years. Eh. We also know this is the Lions. No offensive line. No quarterback. The Lions took the best player available, exactly did what they are supposed to be doing, but when there are two glaring needs starting them right in the face (quarterback and offensive line), you need to take one of them. Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn were right there to make them a better team next year. Guess what? Lions aren't moving up until they get a QB and a better offensive line.

This should not be much of a shock, as the team has had a history of #1 picks holding out for a moderate amount of time since their return to the league in 1999. Dolphins Miss the Boat on Taking Ginn over Quinn
It is easy to second guess when it comes to the NFL Draft, but I don’t think that many people are really on the fence when it comes to talking about the Miami Dolphins. The tone of talking about their draft usually comes down to the same theory - what were they thinking? The Dolphins, in dire need of a quarterback, passed on Notre Dame signal caller Brady Quinn, and instead pulled off the shocker of the draft by taking injured Ohio State speedy wide out Ted Ginn Jr. Ginn, who injured his foot in the National Title game vs Florida, was a first round pick on many boards, but for sure not at number 9. The decision to take Ginn did not sit well with the Dolphins faithful, as shock and outrage quickly overtook the teams draft party. When new head coach Cam Cameron came to the mic to tell the fans the news about taking Ginn, he was met with a chorus of boos, and you could tell that he cut his speech short due to the catcalls he was getting from the crowd. Quinn at #1? More draft drama
According to Profootballtalk.com, the Raiders are talking to the agents for JaMarcus Russell, Calvin Johnson, and Brady Quinn. No surprise here, its common for the team with the #1 pick to try to get a deal done before the draft. Rumor has it, that the Raiders have made a "low ball" offer to Quinn, since he is the least likely of the 3 to go #1. If true, the dilemma for Quinn is to decide if he wants to get paid on the low side as a #1, or get paid a "normal" amount for being drafted at some lower position--possible very low if both the Lions and Browns pass on him.Normally you would think that the players agent, having their clients best interests in mind, would never advise the player to take a "low ball" offer. Here's where things get interesting. Quinn is represented by CAA sports agenty who also represents Adrian Peterson. So in theory, it would be in CAA's best interest to have Quinn take the offer and go at #1, so that Peterson might get picked by the Browns at #3. Othe

      Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
If the Browns decide to choose a QB (and I hope they don't), then my choice would be Brady Quinn. While JaMarcus Russell is a tremendously gifted athlete with a cannon for an arm, Brady Quinn is a more polished passer who is more prepared to step into a pro offense.Sentiment has shifted from Quinn to Russell over the past few months, in part due to LSU's bowl win over Notre Dame, but overall Quinn has a longer track record of quality play with a mediocre supporting cast, than Russell has with a better supporting cast. Russell is raw and probably has more upside, but also more potential downside and therefore is the riskier pick.

      Larry Quinn on Bass Pro
Larry Quinn’s over-reaching defense of the current Bass Pro plans ignores reality and leaves many questions unanswered.  And here is the opportunity: Remake downtown as the true retail and business center of the region. The first step requires the presence of a major destination retailer that will attract millions of people downtown and truly activate the lake and river with water-related activity. Bass Pro’s commitment to reconstruct the historic Central Wharf fills the bill. After reading Quinn’s opinion, I have questions and concerns. Stating that this will lead to Buffalo becoming the retail center of the region is ludicrous.  That is not to say a viable retail center can’t be developed. The 100,000 square foot Bass Pro currently on the table is a shadow of the 250,000 square foot retail magnet originally planned. Daniel Quinn
Daniel Quinn: Of all the author's out there that I have discovered Daniel Quinn has had the most profound effect on me. Profound in how I view the world, our hsitory and who we are. Many of his books repeat themselves - over and over he is telling the same message. What is scary is that this is needed. We have become so brainwashed and so "asleep" that it is nearly impossible for us to see the truth of what our culture has created - and destroyed.A quote: "We've got to find our way back into the community. We've got to stop living like outlaws. When we begin to do that--when we begin to acknowledge that the world needs us and that we belong to it, not it to us--I think our feelings of desperate loneliness and neediness will begin to evaporate, all by themselves."

Brady Quinn States His Case To Be #1 ... Sort Of
Brady Quinn really wants to be the number one pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. No one really thinks that's going to happen though. And he's not helping himself with his mouth either. From the AP: Seven weeks since JaMarcus Russell shot up the draft chart after beating Quinn in the Sugar Bowl, Quinn delivered his first major rebuttal in the competition to be selected first overall in April.
