A quartet of laptops at Fry's
Fry's Electronics has a quarter of laptops in their Sunday paper ads, three of which are WinDoze, and one of them a fingerpainting computer ;-)We start with the lowest price, at $450, where we find the Toshiba Satellite A215-S5829, which featurs an AMD Athlon 64 X2 DC TK-57 processor, 1gb of ddr2 memory, 160gb had disk drive, 15.4" widescreen display, dvd burner, wireless and the usual assortment of features, Vista Premium included. No rebates, but no rainchecks, and one per customer, and while supplies last. Keep that wig and moustache in the car if you need more than one ;-)Next up at $700, we find the HP dv2810us, after a $50 mail-in rebate. This is for the more mobile users as it has a 14.1" widescreen display, but it's no slouch as it is powered by the AMD Turion 64 X2 DC TL-60 proces

Samulnori - Percussion Quartet Band Music
Listen to Samples Samulnori ("samul" means "four things" and "nori" means "to play") is a percussion quartet comprised of a buk (barrel drum), a janggu (hourglass-shaped drum), a jing (gong), and a kkwaenggwari (small gong). Its rhythmic patterns are derived from pungmulgut (folk and religious music) or nongak (farmers' band music) which are performed outdoors with acrobatic and dance movements. Samulnori was created by extracting dynamical and elaborated rhythmic patterns from pungmulgut for indoor performance in 1978. The principle of samulnori is the alternation of tension and relaxation. While improvising rhythms based on several rhythmic patterns, the performers seek to achieve a perfect integration of the four percussion instruments.Samulnori has performed all over the world and has

The things people come up with. I can't even begin to describe this, so I will give you some of the description and hopefully it makes sense. As seen in the beginning of the video, the visitor to the site enters a melody on their computer keyboard. The machine then uses this melody to generate an original and unique 2 1/2 minute piece of music. The web visitor also receives a link to a webcam video of their piece being played. There is a website associated with the video but it is sponsored by Absolut vodka so if you are under the age of majority (kids that means you) you need your parents. It does not work for me on my Linux computer becuase I have an older version of flash. I am going to give it a try with my Windows machine and see what it is all about. The Absolut Quartet is a multi-instrumental music-making installation combining art and technology to create the equivalent of a classic human quartet. It is an 'automated multi-instrumental orchestral machine, a large-scale electromechanical sculpture consisting of three instruments and thousands of parts, working together to create one piece of music. The main timbre is a marimba played by balls shot from a robotic cannon. Other components include a series of wineglasses played by little robotic fingers and an array of robotic percussive instruments'.Prepare to be amazed > check the video! The musical installation is on display at New York and you can get the chance to interact with the machine by logging in to absolutmachines.com. Corpus Quartet
The Corpus Trombone Quartet was founded in 2001 by young students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, with the assistance of their teacher, Tivadar Sztán.Their most important aim was to get acquainted with the repertoire for trombone quartet and to popularise it among professionals of music and the public at large. The members of the ensemble are recognized soloists at the same time. They have been prizewinners of important national music competitions. However, they started working on the development of teamwork and of a homogeneous sound with great pleasure. During the first year of their collective career they complied with a great number of invitations, such as exhibition openings, celebrations, festivals and they played in prestigious concert halls of Budapest, for example in the Hungarian Radio, in the National Museum, in the great hall of the Liszt Music Academy, etc.The Quartet had a concert with Steven Mead in 2004.In 2005 they had a lot great concerts and courses in Slovaki

A quartet of nice ones for the weekend: Division ...
A quartet of nice ones for the weekend:Division Day - ColorguardA brilliant song from the forthcoming debut album Beartrap Island by LA band Division Day. Influences are multiple, but doesn't this sound a bit like Grandaddy? The Boyfriends - Once Upon A TimeWith their own words they sound like "4 men in a room. There is only one place to sit". The music is not as chaotic as this may sound, but this song rocks pretty nicely.Like Honey - AirportA new day and another band from Sweden pops up!Elefant - LolitaThis is the new and very good single by Elefant.
